Greg Oden (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4243/;_ylt=AoCIBbyQVPSYdENjyktXsZbTjdIF) , the Portland Trail Blazers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/por/;_ylt=AqvRjugpk.qK32HzOir94YHTjdIF)' No. 1 pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, will miss the 2007-2008 season after knee surgery on Thursday, two league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Oden, the 7-footer out of Ohio State, underwent exploratory surgery on his right knee on Thursday in Vancouver. The extent of the damage was not immediately clear, but Oden, one of the most celebrated young players in years, will be lost for the season.
The Blazers are expected to make an announcement shortly.
Rofl thats not a good sign when the next Bill Russell is having serious knee issues before he even plays his first game.

Actually no what is really gonna happen is Portland will have a similar season and still wind up with the #1 pick again even though 5 teams will have worse records...then they will draft somebody sick again and be really good

It's not really that funny at all really wanted to see him play.
Now the Pistons picking Darko over Carmello Anthony, Chris Bosh, and Dwayne Wade is funny.
Also getting 6 game swept by the Cavilers is just plain hilarious.

That's too bad. I was watching the sports news last night. You know, this sounds real bad, like not just bad for this season, but fractures on the knee bone means a huge possibility of giving him serious troubles in the future too. Guy sounded really classy from the tidbits I have heard. Wish him well.

How many titles have Melo and Bosh won?
That's the beauty of being a great team. You can take chances on a prospect. They already had their starting five set after the previous season, so why disrupt the chemistry by replacing one of them with a rookie?
Sure, the Darko experiment didn't work out, but the Pistons are no better or worse for having taken him than they would be if they'd taken Melo, Bosh, or Wade.
