Velvet Revolver with Alice in Chains on Tuesday. I've seen VR quite a few times but I've never seen Alice in Chains. I'm kinda more hyped to see them than VR actually. I've heard the new singer sounds fairly like Layne but I haven't heard anything. Gunna go visit YouTube right now to see if he does.

Anyone else seen em live?

The new singer is pretty awful tbh

Layne is 70 times better

Dunno, just saw him do Dam That River on youtube. Sounded alright. I'll give him a chance.

Didn't know he was black.

AiC really shouldn't be carrying on without Layne. Sure, if the other members wish to play and record together, thats great, but atleast do it under another name.

Dear Skip,

You could not have been more wrong.

Signed,
Joey

Fucking AIC was fucking amazing. FUCK. Their set list, if I remember correctly:

Again
Grind
Dam That River
Rain When I Die
Them Bones
Angry Chair
No Excuses
Down in a Hole
Would
Man in the Box
Rooster

So after the 3rd song we (friends I went with, one was a hardcore AIC fan, other two were more than average) all nodded our heads in agreement. Then, when he fucking nailed the Rain When I Die chorus, I think the whole crowd just started to love the guy. The place was packed and going fucking nuts for this guy. I'm telling you, he was spot on.

So, the place was packed I think I said. And right after AIC were done with their set, about half the arena left and only about half of that came back when VR started. People (like me) were more gidded to see AIC than VR.

Which they should have been because VR was horrible. Slash was amazing (isn't he always?) but with that particular band, only Scott Weiland has decent stage presence and if he isnt on track then...yeesh. And he sounded awful. You can tell he's been touring all summer. Only good parts of that set were Interstate Love Song, Patience, and Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. Slash put a nice touch to it.

So yeah, VR wasn't good. AIC was fucking amazing.

Well most of what I've heard him do is either awful or pretty good

depends on the concert really

I always thought that Jerry Cantrell wrote most of their songs not really sure though

It's weird, I was listening to AiC at work the other day and someone mentioned they still tour and whatnot.. I was like "oh really??" and they said the new singer wrote alot of AiC's stuff so when Lane died they just picked him up as the singer..

:dunno:

I never heard anything about that. Don't think it's true.

Alittle research and found out that Staley and Jerry Cantrell wrote most of their original shit.. This new guy wrote for a band called Comes With the Fall..

:-\

I was actually going to make a whole topic in casual about how lazy I've been getting and instead of explaining to people what the problem is or if I know the answer to their question, I'd just nod my head instead.

But you can guess the dilemma that I had with that.

Havnt seen Velvet Revolver...(not really a big fan of them anyways)

Seen Alice in Chains at Buzzfest like 2 years ago. They were alright...I sat through half their performance and then headed to the sidestage where most of the bands I wanted to hear were performing.
