View Full Version : How credible is the ECW title?
Does it have as much credibility as the other two heavyweight belts, or would you put it more on the level of the IC title?

I'd put it above the IC title, but below the US title.

Well it was the opening match on unforgiven, for the top title in ECW its kinda suprising (but not really) that it wasn't on later in the show, whens the last time the wwe title was the opening match on a ppv?
exactly.

It isn't very credible, just a developmental title these days. The last decent person to hold it was RVD or Big Show.
I have a feeling when the sci fi contract runs out later this year, the talent will just be merged into the Smackdown roster and the title will be abandoned.

I have a feeling that once the Sci Fi contract runs out, it will be renewed.
As far as credibility, that is a tough one. If CM Punk had a match with MVP right now, who would be expected to go over?

I dont know, John Morrison was getting some of the biggest pops of the I've heard in years. ECW Title may have even ecslipsed the WHC.

To be fair, the last match of the card was a throw away 'Taker v Henry. I mean at Summerslam neither of the comeback matches were the mainevent and they had way better works.
Any how it is an uppermid card title.

It'll never headline a PPV.
Although if you look at the rosters and the contenders going for it, it should.
World - Batista, Great Khali, Undertaker, Mark Henry, Rey Mysterio
WWE - John Cena, Randy Orton, Triple H (sooner or later)
ECW - CM Punk, Elijah Burke, John Morrison
I know what I'd rather see.

I rather see a triple threat or 3 way dance with CM Punk, Burke and Nitro than any of the other matches.

That’s what pissed me off about last night. You see, BDC, I too was at the local BWW scene near me, and I told everyone at my table when they decided to not have the WWE title match as the Main Event as usual, I said pretty much, “Just watch. They’re swerving the fans into thinking Orton will win the belt, but it’ll probably just end with Orton or Cena getting DQ’d or counted-out, or something cheap, to be able to give them a rubber match.” And obviously, we all knew Taker was getting the “*YAWN* Match of The Night”...surprise, surprise. They don’t pull this crap often, but when it does it pisses me off, like the last time they did it, I believe @ SSlam ’05, the main event was HBK/Hogan, and we all remember Hogan’s old, slow ass winning with his weak-ass leg drop...Oh, well...I’m guessing/hoping No Mercy is a different story for Orton.

It's a fake title on a shitty wrestling program nobody watches. I'd put it on par with the TNA Heavyweight strap. Slightly above, because it gets like .2 points more in the ratings, but nobody ggives a shit except a few internet smarks.

Personally I don't understand why people are so pissy about the leaked plan of Morrison getting the title back after he come back. It just means he is going to be back to being king of the c-show and has no hope of moving up for a while longer.

I think the ECW Championship is above the IC and US Titles, for sure. If CM Punk were put in matches against Jeff Hardy and MVP, I think the WWE would put him over in both matches. Against Batista? He would be jobbed out. Against John Cena? Jobbed. So yeah, I think the ladder looks something like this:
WWE Championship
World Heavyweight Championship
ECW Championship
United States Championship
Intercontinental Championship
WWE Tag Team Championship
Women's Championship
World Tag Team Championship
Cruiserweight Championship

Very sad that you pot anything higher then Woman's. That don't mean no women is good, but that is all fake boobs and candycanes.

I think it's below the WHC by a large margin, but also above the US title by a pretty large margin.

Simple answer is that none of the titles are credible at the moment. There problem is that there's too many for each show which begs the old argument that the tag straps need to be allocated to one of the brands and the cruiserweight and womens to another.
The US and IC titles are fairly pointless and nothing more than a joke. They haven't been used the way the should be (i.e. as a stepping stone to the big time) since the late 90's and there's not been anything resembling a feud centred around ownership of the belts in a good few years.
