Play games you've never played before!

Ever since Nintendo announced Virtual Console fans have been asking whether games that were never released in the UK would be made available. Well now it's finally happening!

Today marks the beginning of what Nintendo are calling the Hanabi Festival. Lasting three weeks it sees the release of classic Japanese and American games that never came out over here. This week it's Mario week as Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels and Mario's Super Picross are ready for download.

Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels is the hardest Mario game of all time. This is the true sequel to Super Mario Bros but while it was released in 1985 in Japan it was very similar to the original and was considered too difficult to be considered for release in the UK. Well, now's your chance to see if you can handle it. Yet if you want to play The Lost Levels you had better download it soon as it's only available until 30 September. Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels will set you back 600 Wii Points.

The second game is Mario's Super Picross. However while Mario makes an appearance on the box and on the menu screen this isn't the Mariofied version of the classic that you might expect. Underneath it's just Picross - you won't be trying to create pictures of Mario using the tiles or anything like that. Mario's Super Picross is available for 900 Wii points.

So that's all for this week as far as the Hanabi Festival is concerned but it will continue until the end of the month with rare retro treats being released such as the US version of Ninja Gaiden on NES, Gradius III for SNES and the cult N64 blaster Sin and Punishment.

Aside from the Hanabi Festival, there is one more release thsi week. It's the Turbografx adventure Neutopia II. If you like the first Neutopia this isn't a bad sequel. It sees Jazeta taking up arms once again to save his father and defeat Dirth. Neutopia II is available for 600 Wii Points.

With this being a 1 time deal, I was wondering how the whole "redownloading what you've already purchased" method would be, since you just click on the normal download link in the shop.
