View Full Version : WWE "Power Rankings"

I actually bought the WWE Fall Preview magazine which contains the rankings for every superstar on the roster, and a few that aren't.
They rate them in 8 categories, Strategy, Mat Skills, Strength, Speed, Agility, Charisma, Sportsmanship, and Aerials. Some rating are absolutely ridiculous, but they nailed some.
Tag Teams are counted as a unit, as is Exteme Expose.
If anyone wants to know anyones stats for laughs, let me know and I'll post then.

How did Khali get a 3 in Aerials? Are we counting the big boot as an aerial?

How did Khali just not get straight 1's across the board (with the exception of strength, because he did make Rey's head bleed internally)

Does anyone have a 10 in sportsmanship?

The highest in Sportsmanship is 9.5 and that belong to Matt Hardy. Hacksaw gets a 9.

Thanks for posting that. I think they went too kayfabe with Val Venis, and should have put his mat skills higher. They could probably take one point from his strength, and add it to his agility. His sportsmanship should probably be a bit higher (Todd Grisham and Jonathan Coachman constantly put it over as a weakness on Heat), and it should be noted as a weakness.
London & Kendrick's strategy should not be so low, even though that the point seems to be that they put their bodies on the line too much. They actually use a fair bit of psychology in their matches, going after the arm of the opponents with a bombardment of flying double axe handles and mushroom stomps. I think their strategy should maybe be a 2. Their mat skills are a little underestimated here, and could probably borrow a point from their strength. Their agility could probably be a little higher, too. I think aerials is being pumped up by kayfabe a little too much. It could be a 10, but considering they aren't allowed to do much, it's a bit of a courtesy.
I just went over Santino's scores, and I love the guy, and constantly talk up his ring skills, but how did he get within 0.5 of Shawn Michaels?
I think it would be interesting to compare wrestlers with this, and play out some fantasy matches. Let's start comparing some guys.
Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels
The Undertaker vs. Kane
It'd be interesting to see how the WWE measures them up.
Mr. Nerfect

Looking at how they measure up, Shawn Michaels actually beats Triple H by a whole ten points. Interesting.
Here's an overall accumulative rankings for the guys, and how many points they obtained. Granted, high points in one area and low points in another leaves an unbalanced Superstar, but it gives you a pretty good kayfabe idea of who the excelling stars are.
Shawn Michaels: 60
Matt Hardy: 59.5
CM Punk: 53
John Cena and Jeff Hardy: 51
Triple H: 50
Paul London & Brian Kendrick: 48
The Miz: 47
Val Venis: 44
Santino Marella: 43.5
Extreme Expose: 41
Dave Taylor: 36
Mark Henry and Balls Mahoney: 33
The Great Khali: 31
It makes it quite interesting to look at. If one was writing a kayfabe article on the findings, it could argue that strength is an effective quality to have, as Mark Henry and Khali suck in pretty much everything but the power side of things. You can also point out the effectiveness of strategy, which has made Triple H more successful than Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy and CM Punk, who are more well-rounded, but only got a 4 for strategy, and don't nearly have the same success rate.

Holy shit! What the fuck is up with Kane getting so low in some areas? His strategy is really not that bad. I mean, he's a big guy who uses power moves and intimidation. I can guess how a big guy taking the time to go for a flying clothesline may not be brilliant, but Kane's strategy should at least be near-average. Both Kane and Taker also share a low charisma rating, which I am not sure is correct. I guess neither is "Mr. Personality" beyond their initial gimmicks, but hmm.
Also, The Undertaker's mat skills are a little overrated. Shawn Michaels is on an 8.5. The Undertaker should not be able to match up with HBK. I could buy maybe an 8...max. 7 sounds even better.
So The Undertaker closes with 48 points, which ties him with Paul London & Brian Kendrick, and puts him just behind Triple H. Kane closes with just 35.5 points, behind Dave Taylor. Ah well, at least Kane beats Mark Henry, Balls Mahoney & The Great Khali.
