View Full Version : The Office Season 4

Season premiere was last night. It was pretty ROFL just like I expected it to be.

The best part was when Pam walked in on Michael changing in his office. Can't believe they acutally showed that scene and blurred out his penis. Also LOL at Dwight putting Angela's cat in the freezer.

PS - Don't use this thread to tell us how much funnier the UK version is.

Still, probably the best all around comedy on television right now.

Dwight and Creed are so awesome.

One of the best episodes yet. For some reason, I was laughing hysterically when Dwight went to visit Kate at the hospital and he was telling the doctor that she was supposed to have had a hysterectomy but it wasn't listed on her chart and the doctor just looked in the camera with a grin and went "so that's where her uterus went..."

Just the way he was playing to the camera when he said it.

I liked it, but I also think the show should stick to 21-minute episodes except maybe the season finales. I think it's much more effective when the plot is to the point. Drawing out this type of comedy kind of delutes it.

You can't blame the writer's guild for going on strike. Apple and other companies post episodes of shows like The Office online for download for a fee. The writers never see a dime because the companies and network pocket the revenue. Since there are no new episodes of virtually any current TV show, these companies are eventually going to have to give the writers a share of the profit if they ever want to make money off downloading TV shows again.

Kris P Lettus
11-24-2007, 02:18 PM
Were a good thing.

They just want to be paid fairly for their hard work.. Corp execs get all the profit for their hard work and creative input.. I'm pissed that my favorite shows aren't coming on, specially around sweeps week, but, I completely see why it's going down..

I've told you this before but, you come off a an utter asshole in like 75% of your posts..

MVP

Krispy is right. Just think, if there were no labor unions using the power of collective bargaining for fair wages and benefits, teachers among others would be making even less than the meager salaries they are paid now.

Stickman
11-26-2007, 12:47 PM
Why do shelf stockers at a grocery store with a union get paid $20+ an hour?

Kris P Lettus
11-26-2007, 01:00 PM
They don't..

My fiance managed a Starbucks inside a grocery store and had to work under their union, she only made like $12 an hour plus benefits..

Have you ever been in a union??

Yeah, how about knowing what your talking about before opening your mouth..

Stickman
11-26-2007, 01:59 PM
My aunt stocks shelves at Safeway for a living. She makes $48k a year doing so. She laughs at how much money she makes for doing nothing.

Unions have done good for people, but at times they're quite rediculous.

Kris P Lettus
11-26-2007, 05:41 PM
Yeah but writers and creators of shows should see a share of profits when a show succeeds.. Some studio exec makes hundreds of million dollars a year in ad revenue alone based solely on the fact that the show is popular because it is a good show.. 9 times outta 10, it is a good show because of the actors and writers.. On a show like the Office, who's main writers are actors, they are getting boned.. Watch that video I posted.. They talk about how the studio got them to write "webisodes" that were outside of their contracts.. The "webisodes" have ads embedded into them that couldn't be fast fowarded online.. The companies paying for the ads pretty muched paid for the episodes to be made, but the writers got no bump for them..

Look at it this way, what if you bartended at a bar that was closed on sundays.. Would you go in a work a private party on a sunday for free, just so the owner of the bar could make extra money??

Your first point makes a lot of sense. The bartending one, not so much.

Kris P Lettus
11-26-2007, 05:55 PM
How does it not make sense??

They (the writers of the Office) were asked to do extra work, which their bosses profited from, while they didn't..

I think it was something along the lines of the fact that Toby doesn't report to Michael, he reports to corporate, so he doesn't feel that he's part of the 'family'

Also, I think they wrote this episode just for Stanley to go off ALA "Bring your kid to work day" in season two..

Steve Carrell says in some commentary that sometime during the first season he just felt a hatred for Toby all of a sudden.. Like this deep seeded hatred for no reason but yeah, it's def spun into a "Michael's family Vs. Corp" thing..

It's a mystery just like why half way through season two Kelly changed from a quite nerdy Indian girl into a cast member from the Hills..

If anyone here works in an office, who do you work with that would make a good character on the show?

Where I work, we got a guy who really can't see too well; so he has a bad habit into backing into things all the time. He's backed into trucks at work, and his car is full of small dents. He's really intelligent though, in regard to figuring numbers and whatnot.

We also have a guy who talks way too much, and everyone has clever ways to avoid him. Customer Service has a thing going to where if he's talking to one of them, they will call each other and pretend to be customers so he'll eventually leave. My boss is the best though, because he basically just says "Shut up, get to the point, you talk too much."

Then there's the guy that falls to sleep in his chair for about 20 minutes every day.

I haven't been watching the Office too long, but I've loved every episode that I've seen.

The Season finale was good, but I'm a little worried about next season because of all the drama.

1. Pam is moving to New York, which is where BJ Penn's character resides. So that will probably cause conflict in her relationship with Jim.

2. Michael fell for the new lady (who is great), but ran into his ex who is now pregnant; and he'll most likely be caught between the 2 next season.

3. Then there's the drama between Dwight and Angela.

It seems like next season is going to revolve around potential relationships, which I'm not too excited about.
