View Full Version : When was The Rock at his best?

I'd say Corporate Rock when he feuded with Mick Foley and Stone Cold leading to Wrestlemania XV

I would say he was at his best in his days as a face.
I would say right before/during/and after the Rock 'n' Sock Connection angle.

He's best right now.
RB and his Rock loving ways hehehe ;)
I say Hollywood Rock. Never was a fan of him wrestling wise, when he came back in Feb 2003 I hated him with a passion, by the time April 2003 came around. I was sad he would be leaving once again (ugh and leaving by putting over Dumberg) :n:

I would say that Rock would without a doubt be at his best if he was full time now, because he was always improving....
but since he's not full time now, I can't see giving Hollywood Rock the vote for best.
He's just all around badass though...

By far, the People's Champ. He cut some AWESOME promos.
Ditto... People's Champ was hilarious IMO! And his promos were great, like Corky said...

Corporate Rock... the "cool asshole" he mentions in his book.
As if HollyRock is even an option.

I was a fan of Rock when he was heel so I think I might have to go with the Corporate Rock

Rocky Maivia :y: :wtf:
Yeah sure, he was best then, with that ring attire. Back then I thought he was a stupid fool like Orton last year, where the whole angle is, "I'm so cool, my daddy was a wrassler too!".

Corporate Rock. He cut his best promos during this turn, IMO.

Peoples' Champ, because that's when he peaked and he played the role of "Hero"
Hollywood Rock. I thought that the People's Champ Rock was great, but his "I'm a famous Hollywood celebrity now" attitude was addicting. I think I re-watched his first Rock Concert atleast 10 times. And his taunts in the ring were priceless. I loved when he would suplex someone and then sit there and applaud for himself, and when he would duck a clothesline and throw someone over the top rope and then laugh and point at his brain.
God I miss Hollywood Rock. (goes to watch No Way Out 03 vs. Hogan)

Hollywood Rock was a heel I know, but goddamn he was made to look like a coward and a pussy.
I practically shook my head when he got scared of Goldberg. That's why I don't like Rock as a heel. Scared of Hogan too? **** that! He puts over others way too much to the point where it makes him look bad yet at the same time doesn't do much for the guy he's putting over (except maybe Hurricane)
Him as a face is the best, and when he puts someone over as a face, it REALLY makes his heel opponent look good (Lesnar and soon Orton) unlike vice versa

so in my opinion, he should only put people over as a face. If he puts someone over as a heel, it's pointless and hurts Rock's credibility

Rocky had his good points in every era. Nowadays he's got charisma shooting out of every pore. I loved it last monday when while beating down Evolution he starts to dance for a second then goes back to beating them down. Unfortunately everytime he comes back they have a new catch phrase for him. (Remember "Nice Lips"?) The people's champ saw his funniest promos, but the writers tried so badly to get him over that I couldn't help but hate the guy. My favorite, though, would have to be Corporate Rock. While everyone was chanting "Rocky Sucks" I was the one guy in the croud who yelled "Rocky doesn't suck!" when the arena got quiet. Sure he was an a**hole, but it didn't take a blind man to see that he was still good.

Soon Orton? What are you talking about? After Wrestlemania, Rocky is unfortunately gone probably. He's got at least 4 movies lined up that will keep him busy for the next couple of years probably. I don't think Rock is gonna be around long enough to actually get anyone over. He might make the occasional appearance like right now. But as much as I hate to admit it, he's not coming back anytime soon?

Corporate Rock by far, his best feuds were with Foley (Royal Rumble 99, Valentine's Day Massacre) and then his match at Wrestlemania XIV with Austin was great. He was such a cocky guy back then it was the best. People's Champ Rock gets so god damn old

I voted for "Corporate Rock." There was nothing better than watching the audience "sing along" with his catchphrases while he insisted them not to. Also, he used a lower voice which set him apart from the stereotypical wrestler who just yells alot.

The match against Austin was at WMXV not XIV. And his match against Austin at WM17 was the best out of all their matches IMO. (when he was peoples champ by the way)
People's champ did get a little stale after a long time, but the only reason that Corporate Rock didn't get stale was because it lasted for like 6 months maybe? Rock definately did his best stuff and stepped up during his time as People's Champ.

lol, you put not one, but TWO rolling eyes at me to get the upper hand. Loser.
I hope Foley is the one that puts Orton over, because I'd hate to see Rock lose credibility at a time where he needs to look good if he plans on having a successful acting career. Smarts know why he jobs. But the casual marks will see him constantly losing then they will think of him as a loser. Sad but true. He can't be always losing, because it will just make him look like "The People's Jobber"

Hollywood Rock
Hes better as a heel imo. His segments where the best ever, anybody got any good downloads? Even his guitar songs were the best.
"The Rock is bigger than Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks. But yet hes got to deal with these, long island scanks!
He'll wip Austins ass you know, and thats the bottom line cuz The Rock said so!"

I think they meant that they want Foley, instead of the Rock, to take the fall at 'Mania and put Orton over.
I say Corporate Rock because that was one of the only times I liked the Rock.

Coming from a guy who thinks Heyman is a good poster, you don't give yourself much credibility to throw insults at people, especially stupid ones like what you just posted.

They just had The Rock come out to his older theme. The remake of the one they changed it to AFTER corporate Rock/Original "The Rock proceeding NoD character."
Eh.
Ok.
They rolled back Rock's music, is what I'm saying. Wonder if it means anything. I actually liked the Hollywood theme 20x better than the other ones. I think Hollywood Rock is the best - not for the Hollywood thing, but beause that's the cockiness of The Rock that I miss. His 'evolved heel' type persona. It was nice and fresh. But still vintage Rock.
