Seriously
Never inspired nor disgusted me, there are a thousand metal bands better and a hell of a lot worse too.

Corey Taylor seriously needs to come back to the bottle, either that or needs to slit his wrists, whic ever comes first.
I will admit, I was an big Slipknot mark back when I got into metal back in 2000

Can't fucking stand them. I get so pissed off at one of my friends who thinks they're the greatest thing ever. I always had to listen to it (and other shitty music that he likes) when driving with him, and since I can't fucking stand it to the point of wanting to stab my ear drums, I stopped letting him drive anywhere. Didn't even care about the gas.

I solved that problem.
The guy who loved Slipknot was an uptight Christian. When he heard the line "If you're 555 then I'm 666" or something like that, he immediately hated them.
Yay!

LOL Wish it would have been that easy, but this kid was probably the least religious friend I had (not friends with him anymore for other reasons), so that wouldn't have worked. He once lost a couple CDs though and since I hated all of them, even though I had seen them not 15 minutes earlier I didn't tell him where they were. He didn't have them for a good two weeks.

and a couple of others from that album(i'm not massive on track names) where the ones I really enjoy.

They dress like they should rock, but then their music sounds like backstreet boys or something. They are the least heavy band on the face of the earth. Jewel rocks harder than Slipknot.

When they first came out it was pretty heavy. I'd occasionally put in their cd and enjoy it. But I think they're just rediculous with how they dress and shit like that. Goes to show how far their talent can take them.
People here are really overstating the case, forget the fact that they're a bunch of fucknuts, with fucknut fans and a fucknut image, the music isn't THAT bad, its very very average, but like I said before there is some truly diabolical metal out there on some pretty major labels and a shitload on well known underground ones.

Just being heavy isn't enough, though. They're heavy, but they're pretty sub-par.
If you want heavy, there are a thousand industrial acts that will sell you canned beats.

Well it depends how you look at it. As a normal listern of music, you'd probably get the "eh" like any of the other idiots that have posted above me.
However as a lover of music and of musicianship myself, I find them quite good and intriguing. Name one other band that has twin guitars and THREE drummers/procussionists and they make it WORK.
That's right...you can't.

You kidding? There was another band that used multiple percussionists on the same LABEL as Slipknot. Someone help me with the name.
And that's just in metal. On the same label.

You may be thinking of Mushroomhead but they never had 3 drummers.
They did have two singers.

Yes, I can see how you'd think I confused two singers for three drummers.

Having 3 drummers is just stupid. One talented drummer should be able to make music sound good by himself without needing the help of another (and TWO others in this case) to play.
Jordison isn't that great of a drummer to begin with though, so I'm not surprised he needs help.

I agree it's stupid in this case, but there are only four limbs one can realistically use to manipulate percussion. Multiple percussionists isn't really bad. Just that Slipknot doesn't really do much to merit that kind of thing.

You have Joey doing the main stuff with the other two coming in over the top and in the background just to round it out nicely.
And Req, I'd LOVE to see who you think is a great drummer.
Wait..lemme guess, Nick Cannon because he was in that one drummer movie you jerk it to nightly?

I need three assholes so that when I fart the sound is rounded out nicely.

He shouldn't need it. It's been a while since I listened to anything by Slipnknot, but I can't remember a single instance in which one talented drummer couldn't have pulled it off.

Dominic Howard, Danny Carey, Taylor Hawkins, Dave Grohl (while I hate Nirvana with a passion, Grohl is extremely talented), and Sebastien Grainger just to name a few who I think are better.
And I didn't list them just because I like the bands, but because they represent a wide spectrum of styles, all of which are better than Jordison.

They're ok. But nothing special. I own all their albums but only like the odd song. I wouldn't be bothered if they split up tomorrow.
And to be honest I never really liked them when they first come around and everyone was ejaculating to their music. I've always been an old-skool guy... I only gave them a chance after hearing Stone Sour (who aren't bad, but still nothing special there either... better than fucking Murderdolls mind you).

Rammstein indirectly made me think:
With three drummers, you'd think one of them would be able to play in relative time.
Stone Sour was too bland for me to like, but they at least weren't shitty enough for me to dislike.

I thought it was a fucking joke that they released Bother as their first single, making people who had never heard them think that they had a completely different style. The rest of that CD was a slap in the face to anyone willing to give them a chance.

Wasn't Bother released without Stone Sour's name attached to it?

How so? My radio stations announced it as Stone Sour - Bother
And it was on the CD, so it's not like it was a stand alone track.

Bother was originally released as a solo track by Corey Taylor on the Spider-Man movie soudtrack. It was then included on Stone Sour's debut album and credited to them.
