View Full Version : My look at notable WWE developmental talent

Occasionally I like to see what's cooking down in the developmental leagues, as this is where the WWE usually likes to get their stars from, as they are considered "homegrown," and generally get better treatment than someone who comes into the WWE from somewhere else. John Cena, Batista and Randy Orton have all been talent that have gotten their first real starts in the WWE's developmental leagues.

Anyway, here are some of the WWE's developmental talent that I think should be getting looked at by the WWE, and the ones I think that have the best chance of getting called up. There have been quite a lot of injuries recently, and the there are rumours that ECW is looking to recruit. So without further ado, here we are.

1. Michael W. Kruel and Roucka
These two would make a great pair to bring up to either of the three brands, in my opinion. Michael Washington Kruel loves America...and is hated for it. It's refreshing to see a patriotic gimmick used for a heel. Kurt Angle was almost the same thing, but initially he was a babyface, and the whole "Olympic" thing was kind of built in to him. Michael W. Kruel could be a great mid-card heel act.

Roucka was of course discovered by the WWE during an annual cunt hunt. I can't remember which one, but she's actually turned into a pretty decent performer, by the sounds of it. She's currently OVW's Women's Champion, over some talented female workers, so I assume she can at least string a match together. She and Mike Kruel would make a great heel duo, and I think SmackDown! might be the place for them. I get the feeling they are considering a Women's Division there, and Roucka could help establish that. Mike Kruel as WWE United States Champion would be something too great to not happen down the line.

Drew Galloway
I often jump the gun with my proclaimation that a developmental guy has potential. I mean, they do, but the WWE finds a way to fuck it up. One guy I can't see the WWE fucking up with is Drew Galloway. He is their wet dream. Originally from Scotland, Drew Galloway is a 6'5, 250lbs pretty boy, with the kind of elegence that could be easy to either like, or dislike. He has a similar training background as Paul Burchill, and while it would be unreasonable to compare the two (as Paul Burchill is pretty fucking phenomenally gifted), I think Galloway would be able to move around the place quite well for a man his size.

"Thee" Drew Galloway just oozes the charisma of a guy you want to see get sliced up, and if he were allowed to be likeable, the guy you want to see slice someone up. I can just see this guy working.

Kofi Kingston
This is a guy that got on wrestling news reports because the WWE were apparently high on his progress. Basically he plays a plucky babyface from Jamaica. If that does not get over, I don't know what will. With the WWE not having many face characters to call up, Kofi Kingston is one of those guys who could just show up and instantly be likeable.

I'd give this a guy a good start on ECW, where a lot of developmental talent is expected to start showing up.

There is a larger pool of talent I want to explore, but I will stop at these four for now.

Looking at that pic, Kofi Kingston is already on ECW wrestling under the moniker "Elijah Burke".

I swear I've seen Galloway wrestle. If it was him, he was entertaining indeed. But u mentioning Burchill made me want to see him back NOW. I've really missed seeing him on TV (OVW doesn't air here! - well, I can't get it!) and he could always cut it on ECW / SD for a few years with ease anyway.

That PTW belt looks like it's made from recycled Samsung U600's too. Not the biggest fan of that belt at all.

Alienoid, so u know anywhere where they show OVW on the web?

I honestly don't have any clue as to where you can watch OVW. I wish I could check it out because often OVW put on a better show than the WWE. Well, they used to when Paul Heyman was writing.

I was planning to take a look at Paul Burchill, and he will be coming. Another returning star I want to see get called back is Johnny Jeter.

Michael W. Kruel lost to Funaki and Milena Roucka was one of the finalists in the Diva search.

No, I just couldn't sit through hours of indy and developmental wrestling week after week, I can barely get through an hour of RAW on Mondays.

Plus you can only watch much wrestling.

None of them will make anything of themselves.

This Scottish guy will be obviously given the Pirate gimmick that didn't work. Either that or a proper Highlander gimmick where his catchphrase is 'there can be only one' while being Tag Champs with Birchall - he'll be called The Kuurgan. As for 'pretty boy', well I'm no expert on the beauty of the male form, but from that photo he looks like a fucking alien with a wig.

This Kingston guy will be 'Kingston B.Ware' and carry a parrot around. Then he'll change his gimmick to Ali G - down wiv tha kids innit (i refer to the original UK version). That'll get him over. The IWC will call him a 'Blacker Cena'.

As for the other two, the woman will be in custard bowl matches and Playboy - while the guy will make as much of a mark as Mike Knox. Michael Kruel is a ridiculous name as well. She's hot......but aren't they all these days?

P.S. I love the way the Noid bigs up the Development talent by saying Cena, Dancing Dave and Orton got their starts there.

Woah, they must have learned what - 4 moves between them? Go OVW!

During the Attitude Era I was watching at least 7 hours a week. Other people were doing 10+ (counting RAW, Nitro, SmackDown!, Thunder, and the lesser shows). If it's worth watching I can't get enough of it.

Two words.

COLT...CABANA.

Although he's not exactly 'homegrown', nobody could come in and be more awesome, more quickly, than Cabana. Booked even half correctly, he should get over big time.

As for Galloway, he plays 'cocky heel' very well. Even though he's 6'5, 250lbs, he doesn't really look it (I'm sure that will change in the Land of the Gas) His accent could be a stumbling block too.

Nothing exceptional stands out about Mike Kruel imo :-\

Not seen any of Kofi Kingston but the premise of an underdog, Cool Runnings-esque babyface sounds like something that could work, especially if he has 'likeability'.

That belt is soooo cheap. It looks like it was made of plastic (the belt itself), and the letters and globe look like they came from those packs of stickers you can buy in bulk that have letters numbers symbols and sometimes pictures as well. LOL.

No way. I took my ideas to Vince and then got fired so now I write for TNA. Reverse Battle Royal Gauntlet Chamber of Blood Match at Genesis. Believe it.

I wasn't referring to their skills being taught in the WWE. I was referring to the hard-on the WWE has for them. It's possible for an OVW guy to become something other than a jobber.

If I wanted to point out OVW wrestlers with some talent to them: Nick Dinsmore, Rob Conway, Doug Basham, The Damaja, Brent Albright, Johnny Jeter, Matt Cappotelli, Ken Doane, etc. Randy Orton, Prototype and even Matt fucking Morgan weren't too bad in OVW, either. There's nothing wrong with the teachings there, it's what the WWE chooses to do with them.

Also, I'm not exactly suggesting everyone watches the developmental leagues. I mean, sometimes you'll get a better written show than the WWE, but I'm just pointing out some of the guys that we could see on WWE TV soon. They'll probably be completely different and jobbing, but still.

Colt Cabana is someone that goes without saying. Cabana getting called up to the WWE will be a great day. For some reason, I really want to see him work a program with William Regal, with Regal being the straight man in the feud, with them both working the European style. Cabana would have been the perfect choice for Vince McMahon's illegitimate son.

I couldn't find a great picture of Mike Kruel. I'll admit he seems underwhelming, but apparently in his new gimmick he is pretty fucking awesome. I assume he decks it out in the red, white and blue and such.

I haven't seen too much from Kofi Kingston, but from what I have, he has the likeability needed for a solid babyface run.

Galloway deserves all the success in the world, he’s a really nice down to earth bloke, worked with him in a few rumbles and Alex Steele (who used to post on here are King Jericho) had a decent match with him. Underneath that shirt is a great looking body.

The only problem he may have is his accent, he might need to soften it for working on TV if he’s doing mic work.

Other guys:

SOS Shemus O Shuasseny (sp?)

I’m not a huge fan of his work, but it’s a fit for a WWE ring and the guy is totally built like a brick shithouse

I can’t see Hade Vansen getting anywhere fast to be honest, he seems a bit too small IMO
