I've been hoping for years that someone would do a decent portrayal of some of the Harlem kingpins from the mid 20th century that wasn't saturated in glitz and glamour, attempting to be a comedy or just generally tongue in cheek, hopefully this is it.

Also if this film doesn't have a ridiculously good soundtrack I'll be highly disappointed, hopefully its all stuff from the 1970's too.

Pretty ridiculous ensemble, no idea how big all of the above's roles will be, would be cool to see Polito and Elba get some decent airtime though

Armand Assante... Christ, when i think of him all that comes to mind is bloody Judge Dredd, and his bad acting. I hope he has improved since then.

It was amazing imo. Denzel was the perfect role for this. Crowe had an awesome role too. Some of the statstics they gave at the end of the movie were amazing too.

Quite possibly my favorite movie of the year. This is going to be one of my top picks for a long time to come. One of Denzel's best performances. Probably one of Crowe's better ones (not quite best, but very good).

One thing I didn't get, and no it's not a spoiler. But there was a 30 second scene where he buys a grand piano. Maybe I missed something but wtf was the point of that scene.

Very good but not great. Good story, uniformly good performances, but it was just missing that extra thing to make me call it great.

You know who I am really realizing I dig is Chiwetel Ejiofor. Gotta go hunt down some more of his work.

Yeah Ejiofor is a great actor, check out Dirty Pretty Things, pretty cool film with him and the chick from Amelie as illegal immigrants in London.
