So it's come down to you guys!

I'm still trying to work out whether to go PS3 or XBOX360. Thus I need the good people of TPWW to help me.

Let's base it on the following things...

1) I don't get too much time to play anymore
2) My main games collection consists of SmackDown vs Raw and the latest Pro Evolution Soccer (Winning Eleven over in the States, or is that just Japan?)

Basically, the custom themes for SDvRAW for the 360 is a big swaying factor.

The only thing I could do with knowing is this...

For the last 3 or 4 Pro Evo games I've managed to download updates to give the official kits. Now granted it doesn't add anything to the gameplay but it gives a much better overall look IMO.

So...is there any chance this will be doable on either system?

DISCLAIMER: No one replying in this thread is to chastise me for the lack of breadth in my games collection. As I said I have little time with which to play. Hey, I'm doing my best over here! Gimme a break!

Or Mass Effect for the 360.

Or we could read what he said, and reply to what he wants instead of responding like total fuckwads.

Unfortunately, I don't know about these "kits."

On the other hand...

Never played MSG tbh!

Oh, kits = jerseys I guess.

So you're talking about downloadable content, yes?

I don't know anything about Winning 11, and The next Smackdown Vs Raw has custom soundtracks on the 360.

Essentially, I'd say check out the exclusives list for each system, and see which one interests you more. The PS3 has more potential, and has BluRay, which is a plus, IMO. If you don't have any preferences on the exclusives though, you don't care about Blu-Ray, and you want to save money, the 360 would probably be your best bet.

Both systems will have downloadable content for the most part. They may get different content though... So it's hard to gauge that way.

The 360, at least at the moment, has the superior multi-system games, including SvR (from what I've read). It could change, but like WWKD said, unless you NEED the exclusives or the Blu-Ray player (I know there are cheaper ones, but it's a plus to the system nonetheless) I'd go 360.

Yeah, since the games themselves are not the same, and some games have platform specific DLC exclusives, it's hard to say who will get what.

Take, for example, Smackdown v Raw. There's no guarantee that the DLC will be the same. Say they add some new wrestlers. Who's to say one platform won't get Chris Jericho (assuming he comes back) and the other won't get Val Venis?

I think this actually hurts the market, because fans of a game are going to be annoyed if they can't get all the content and such (Especially for games like SVR...), but it makes it hard to predict.

But yeah. Hard to know where this shit will go.

Another thing with DLC, is god knows hw much each system will charge for shit in the long run. I don't think there have been any glaring cost differences yet, but you never know.

Although Sony is doing piss-poor right now, they do learn quick. Dual Shock 3 is coming soon, and MGS4 and Square Enix titles will dazzle. I predict PS3 will get its act together by 2009. But aside from that slight chance to improve, look around these boards... we all have a 360. Go back 2 years and look around... we all dumped on its development and arrival. The most circulated threads around here is 360 and Wii discussions, with one PS2 thread (DBZ). The only PS3 thread is the one asking what its doing wrong.

If you're wagering on DLC, I'd wager on 360 getting the better stuff. As the dominant system between the two, it's already the flagship version of most games, and so it's likely to get the attention unless Sony swings it or actually buys superior exclusives.

Not as such, no!

Lemme explain. For those that are not familiar with Pro Evolution Soccer / Winning 11, it is a soccer game, beyond a doubt the best soccer game available. As in waaaaaaaaaay better than FIFA.

Now the only thing that turns people away from PES is the licensing. Basically, FIFA has all the proper jerseys, team names and emblems.

So, PES you could have Trafford Reds instead of Manchester Utd. And they would be wearing a basic red shirt with a dodgy badge.

For the last few enstallments on PS2 I have been able to d/l an option file (via a MaxDrive device) where some super talented guy has updated the team names, player names, pefected the emblems and given the teams the right jersey.

As I said, this does not improve the gameplay but the visual aspect is improved about 1,000 fold.

Basically I'm asking if anyone knows where you would be able to do this on 360 / PS3!?

I don't think you could do it on the last PES on xbox.

But all the guys at Game told me that the 360 is the better console and their the experts.

Is this an option native to the game, or are you talking about hacking it?

I used to work at Game, and we all thought we were the experts....we were not.

But anyway, 360 > PS3

It's a hack.

I don't know much about the game mod (as opposed to mods in terms of hardware) community on either system, but it seems VERY small. Perhaps because it's new, or because it's harder. Don't care.

Either way, I wouldn't much count on it for either system, XL.

If you don't have that much time to play, seeing as how much of the PS3 game roster that is going to be coming out will demand some time (GT5, MGS4, FFXIII), you might be more inclined on the 360 (and if the custom themes are what you desire, there you go). Also don't forget about the Wii, either (I'm being biased right now because it's the only one of the new systems I own right now, though that will probably change soon). It's got a few good games, even though developers are just NOW starting to work out the Wii controller.

Your best bet if you want some hardcore gaming that won't take you long to do would be the 360, I think.

You can hook up a 360 HD to a PC and transfer files over using either xport or xsata (about £30 for either). Then you just transfer the files over and jobs a goodun.

So yeah, go with 360, custom themes, most current games having better performance and some stunning looking exclusives.

Wrong.

Here's something that may tip it in 360s favor. Not sure if the PS3 has this but you can scan in logos/sponsers using the camera and put them on the strips.
