I mean, i know it was BIG on Gears, but i dont remember the Halo 2 community being so fucking Dependant on melee. But here we are, Halo 3...where everyone now has a 360 and bought it, even if they didnt LIKE Halo 2 or FPS.
And because you lunge in halo 3 when you melee, it almost makes it a tad worse.

Maybe im ranting. Or maybe im on to something.

Halo faithful (thats anyone who played Halo/Halo 2 like it was their life), whatchathink?

I've played with boxer control scheme since Halo 1, so it's nothing new. Any good Halo player knows the right time to punch. The lunge in Halo 3 is pretty shitty now, though it is still there. It's not nearly as ridiculous as it was in Halo 2. I wish they had taken the lunge away for good. As a friend of mine said - Master Chief doesn't have fucking jet packs. He shouldn't be able to lunge like he does, especially not in mid air.

But oh well, I've always punched in Halo, and the people I play with use it so I guess I don't notice an increase in its usage at all.

I dont think it is any worse that Halo 2. Melee was bigger in Halo 2 than Gears IMHO. So blaming it on gears is off. Melee is the primary close combat attack unless you have a shotgun or sword, which is less likely than just melee-ing. if someone can run up into melee range and you cant kill them, then thats on you.

did you even play gears? People would just run up to you, shotgun in hand, press b when they approach you on the run, then a trigger pull and thats it. I played Halo 2 religiously, and i never ran into as much melee as i do in 3.

Did You Know:

In Halo 3 if two people whack each other at the same time the one with more health wins?

I have noticed a larger use of melee, but that's nothing a little use of radar can't solve. Then there's staying away from in-closed areas with long range weapons, being ready... there's alot of factors. Anyway I'm getting on now so feel free to drop a line.

I have always been more of a close combat type in Halo anyways, so maybe I just dont notice. I never have played Gears online, after I beat it I traded it in. Anywho, Shotgun/Sword/Melee as always been my M.O., so I fit right in.
