There was a topic about this a few months ago. WrestleFanFest.

http://www.tpww.net/forums/showthread.php?t=65721&highlight=wrestle+fan+fest

Now, over the months, I went from being pumped to go to this when I saw the original card for Saturday night, to a little less excited when I realized how horrible it was being promoted in that I couldn't even find out what was going on when. Over the past few days, I've found out that about half of the hundred or so wrestlers who were scheduled to be there had backed out. Mainly due to money issues. Kurt Angle because of a stomach virus and Lex Luger for obvious reasons.

So it started yesterday at 7:30. I had to work til about 6 and decided it wasn't worth rushing to go especially since it looked like it was going to be a huge clusterfuck with every member of the tag team main event (Hall & Nash vs. Sid & a mystery partner) had backed out. Turns out the show was abysmal.

On top of that, the highlight for me for today was to be Roddy Piper doing a one man show... Piper showed up yesterday, expecting to be paid in cash. When he was handed a check by the promoter, he made the promoter drive him to the bank to cash it... the check bounced, and Piper left.

However Saturday was to be headlined by an MMA show and while many of them had backed out, the show was still scheduled to go on with who was left... the show was canceled today because they were missing two beams needed to build the cage.

Tomorrow, there is SCHEDULED to be a Q&A with Vince Russo, an AWA show and a rare west coast ROH show. I usually hang out with the guys at a sports bar and watch football on Sundays so it's not like I have nothing better to do. It's about a 45 minute - hour long drive. Tickets are $25, that gets you in for everything the whole day.

This is one of the biggest clusterfucks in the history of pro wrestling. That being said... I want some opinions. Should I or shouldn't I?

I'll go ahead and give the "no"s a 1 vote handi-cap to counter Alienoid's inevitable "Only $25 for a rare chance to see ROH on the west coast! Are you fucking insane!?!?!?" reply.:y:

I suggest you take that $25 and use 15 of it on buying a DVD and 10 of it on buying a pizza. Promise you you're like my option more.

yea, read about all these backouts the other day. ridiculous. I would be so pissed if I paid for this. I wouldn't spend the 25 on that.

I mean, the ROH show sounds good. And I would love to see Bryan Danielson wrestle. He's a local guy. Haven't seen him wrestle in about 12 years though.

Something tells me with every terrible, incredibly unprofessional incident I have ready about (I mean, how do you promote an MMA show months ahead of time and then when the time comes, forget parts of the cage and have to cancel!?!?) It just sounds like a sign that anything tied in with this event is doomed to fail.

lol. Not really "pissed" I guess. In a way, it would have been great to witness this trainwreck live and in person. I'd tell the story for the rest of my life.

Plus, a ton of the wrestlers staged a sit-in in the hotel lobby waiting to get paid and talking with fans. Would have been a crazy experience.

Also, one of the sites I read told a story of how some of the wrestlers didn't get tickets to fly out of San Francisco but out of Sacramento instead (A couple hours away with a little traffic.). The promoter actually went out and started asking fans if they could give Jimmy Snuka, JD Michaels, April Hunter, and The Sandman a ride to the airport. Imagine the stories that could come out of a late night ride to the airport with Jimmy Snuka and Sandman.

yea, heard that. Yea, would of been cool to just chill with the wrestlers. But If I paid anything for this, especially likw VIP pricing, I would of flipped
