It's actually a poem  C'mon, common knowledge here. Seriously though, it's a cool story.
But yeah, I think it looks badass but people I've talked to have no interest in it, sadly.

There is a film called Grendal/Grendle, I dunno, but think its based on the same poem/legend/myth. Has Ralph Feinnes in it. LOL the beast is the worst CGI, has anyone seen it?
Think this will be pretty good, I like Winstone, kept my eye on this for a while.

The story is phenominal - looks like they're taking a God of War approach with the movie too :y:

The amount of CGI makes me doubt this film's quality. I actually read the poem in high school, and aside from the archaic English, it was pretty good.

Grendel sucked ass.
Anyone see the version of Beowulf with Chris Lambert in it? I hear it's terrible.

Yeah. I did. It wasn't that great. It had Gotz Otto in it and the chick who played "She" was pretty hot.
Anyway, Sci-fi channel made like two or three of these movies. Just reading the book is awesome enough.
I'm gonna pass on this.

Yes. And I kind of liked it. Although I have a penchant for bad movies. The newer one on Sci-Fi I couldn't pay attention to and watched something else.

I wouldn't compare Sci Fi, maker of "Mosquito," and "Mammoth" to a real movie house. Sure, it probably won't live up to the epic, but Sci Fi's so bad it's almost self parody.

Put your cock up, RP..
This looks good, but with it all being computerised it also looks like the kinda thing that may look dated in a decade

It looks great but it seems like for the past 5 years a new movie based off Beowulf has come out.....
This one definently looks more epic than all of them...

I love it. Beowulf's been around about 1300 years, and nobody cares until they make it into a flashy CGI movie.

If they wrote it in 3-D then people would have cared about it.

Already looks dated, TBH. There's better, less dated CG out there.
I mean, I don't care, but I'm not a graphics whore.
I'm more concerned about trying to turn an epic into a blockbuster. They can't even do it with contemporary literature. :p

I hear Jolie appears nude in this... or at least a 3D mockup of her does.

I don't fancy the look of it. I'd never be able to get into it... to suspend belief if you wheeeeeel.
I'm just not entirely sure why this is all so CGI orientated, It has its uses but it seems like it takes away some of the realism if you go too far
Although having said that the great thing about mythology is that its not realistic

People love 300 for its effects, yet shake their heads at Beowulf for doing nearly the same thing.

Actually saw this yesterday in 3-D and thought it was alright. I really enjoyed the experience. My first 3-D movie since I was a young lad. The visuals and graphics (especially in 3-D) are great.
Few things:
- The CGI is incredible... but only on the men it seems. Like the males were all like... photo-realistic... liver spots... subtle eye movements and everything. While the females in the film seemed to be made out of plastic and rarely changed in expression.
- If you see it, see it in 3-D. I admit that I probably wouldn't have liked it as much if it was a 2D movie. Especially since occasionally it fell prey to throwing things in there for the sake of the 3-D, like slowly zooming out to reveal an object in the foreground that has no relevance at all (like branches or something).

saw it last week...Didnt want to see it and figured I would really dislike it...but by the time the movie was over, I really enjoyed watching it. I agree with the comment about the CGI being better on the guys...but an almost fully nude Jolie was pretty nice to look at as well

Was alright. The CG was really odd, in that sometimes it looks nearly photorealistic, and sometimes it looks just horribly fake. Before I saw this, I was kinda like wtf at casting Crispin Glover as Grendel, wondering why they'd need a name actor for a creature. But he was perfect, and Grendel was the best thing about the movie. I understand that it was meant as kinda campy, but even so the script seemed a bit over the top at times.
I dug it though.

I haven't seen Beowulf, but I did see 300. In 300 the actors were not CGI, there was actual people delivering the dialogue.
Also, never say anything remotely negative about 300 again. Even if you don't mean to. You'll be thrown down a well if you do.
