Video is no longer available. I was going to "acquire" the live action movie on dvd online last year but I keep forgetting. That reminds me....

BTW, never saw an episode of Death Note. I've kind of become jaded with anime because it tends to be hard to find a series I like and when I do, it's even hard to keep up with. Still, another friend of mine who's somewhat bored of anime too has told me he's like the show, so I might eventually watch it.

I'm not an anime fan by any means. With that said, I FUCKING LOVE Death Note. It is the shit.

I prefer Japanese Drama's better (Ikebukuro West Gate Park is the shit.)

I know the series gets far more epic as it goes on, but this scene (the scene with "L" on live television, and the creepy ass piano music that plays after) always gives me chills. Love this.

I'm surprised that the English dub is as good as it is. Usualy English versions of shows like these have such robotic voice actors.

Death Note is certainly a show to follow. There are so many twists and turns, it never gets boring, all the to grand finale.

Case in point: the new One Piece dub ;)

But yes, this show is awesome. If I had to choose a series to show a non-anime fan, this would be it.

I'm up to Volume 11 of the Manga and I'm loving every moment. Cannot wait to see how it ends. I've only seen the first episode of the series in Japanese and I'm waiting for the DVDs to come out before watching on. The voices sound good though, Light sounds like a complete twat just as I'd expect.

L is fucking awesome.

I dunno I don't think the voice actor they got for kira works very well. He usually plays more emotional characters, and despite the clip, kira is usually pretty cool and collected.

True, Light is aalways calm, but that is from the beginning, so yeah. Maybe the actor's got range, I dunno.

Because sometimes people post while you are typing your response and you look like an asshat replying to the wrong post.

Yeah, one time I called rhiannn retarded, and she responded with "Exactly", because she was replying to the post before me. Was quite humorous.

:(

The Death Note movies end better, and at this point, you can probably watch them without spoiling the rest of the anime.

The show is just one jaw dropping twist after another.

I'm so sad right now.

One of the best death sequences I've ever seen.

Too bad the final twist in the end isn't as good as this one.

Seriously.

The end didn't ruin the whole series for me or anything, but it was still a big dissapointment for me. Felt like a cop-out kinda.

I actually really like the ending.

This show was on like "24" level for me.

I really enjoyed this show. The ending was a bit of a let down but only because it was an ending. I actually wouldn't mind a second series in this to be honest, using the same premise but a new cast and scenario. Maybe with someone more darkly motivated as the lead. They could have a couple returning characters, mainly a certain kid I want to see get offed.

Fuken loved this anime when I first saw the sub last year, one of the best portrayals of a cat and mouse sort of situation of any form of visual entertainment (anime or live action). It's such an original concept thats impossible not to get into.

A while ago, Viz bought the rights to the Death Note movies and said that they were only dubbing the first one atm, which is weird seeing as how the movie is live action.

I have only read half of the manga and seen a couple episodes of the anime. Should I watch the live action movie yet or wait?

UmbrellaCorporation

That's hard to say, really.

I won't tell you the live action movies will SPOIL you, because they leave things out (certain important characters and plot points), and add things that were never in the anime.

It is Death Note, and it's awesome. But it's not exactly based on the anime/manga. You have the cat/mouse game with Light and L, but that's as far as it goes. Several of the main characters from the manga/anime are missing completely, taking several plot pieces with them.

Still very good though.
