If you listen to his theme song, it’s obvious the take away is “ok here’s a guy that really likes butts.” But rarely, if ever does his character reference other people’s asses on screen. He’s usually only referencing his own ass. So you look at that and think “well here’s a guy who really likes to show off his butt.” But then why is his theme song so aggressively promoting his infatuation with other people’s asses?

I think this lack of clarity is probably the main reason why Billy Gunn was never able to establish himself as a singles competitor.

As a kid, I always thought it was about his own ass, or just the thematic concept of asses. It was a long time before I realized that it was probably a shortened version of "Badd Ass." Like, "That's MR. Badd Ass to you." So it's Mr. Ass.
