The following is from WWE.com:
WWE has come to terms on the release of SmackDown Superstar Chris Masters. We wish Chris the best in all his future endeavors.
This should come as no surprise.

Sadly, yes. All he had going for him was his physique, and you can probably find a hundred guys better for THAT.

I'm more suprised Harry Smith still has a job. I would have fired him straight away for being caught after only 2 weeks on the road.

Basically, yeah.
And especially when your whole gimmick is your physique, and the company institutes a Wellness Policy, you're up shit creek.

Can't say I'm gonna miss him. WWE has a habit of releasing talented guys who've done nothing wrong. This time, they got it right though.

EXTREME stupidity by the wwe! :n:
Chris Masters was bright, that guy had serious potential. WWE is relying too much on older talents these days and its too bad a good young talent has to be cut because of that. Hopefully we will see Masters back again and with a great new gimmick! :y:

That's a very loose definition of "talent", chief. There was nothing "bright" about the guy at all; damn near every match he was in ended with someone getting hurt -- maybe not injured, but usually hurt.

Gods I hope you're a sock. I really do.
Kid, I'm a mark for Jeff Hardy. Imagine how upset I was 2-4 years ago when he got fired. Now he's back and doing better then ever. Wanna know why? Because Jeff's not roiding up every other night to maintain his image like that useless peice of shit that was Masters.
I hope the boy learns his lesson though and whereever he goes, he doens't roid up like he did. Otherwise, get his ass off my tv and I hope to never see him again.

So if you like a guy and he has been punished for drugs 3 or 4 times but he has a modicum of talent it's okay?
I think Shadow said it best. I hope you're a sock.

He always manages to screw up his big push, and he'll probably find himself demoted/suspended/fired in a couple of weeks.

I think in some ways, Masters was caught between a cock and a hard place.
As many people have alluded to, the main thing Masters had going for himself was his physique. Take away the physique, and you were left with nothing.
Unfortunately, the WWE sends mixed messages to its hoss wrestlers with limited talent. Take roids - and you get suspended. DON"T take roids (and lose your impressive physique in the process), and you get pushed down the card.
In a sense, I feel a bit sorry for Masters. Best of luck to him.
What Would Kevin Do?

I can't say I'll miss him, but come on. Remember when he came back, and was obviously off the juice? He was mocked on tv for looking smaller, and then he pretty much vanished of the card.
Lo and behold, he gets big again, and he gets a push.
And come on, look at Vince and HHH, like HHH hasn't grown since he came back...
Mixed messages. Blah

I totally agree. The de facto understanding is that if you don't have an awesome build, you won't get anywhere. But especially in the current environment, they'll throw you in front of the bus faster than they did Benoit if you're taking steroids.
I don't feel bad for Masters in anything more than a general sense (Especially since it was being reported that he was late for a meeting with Vince regarding all this, which is totally his doing), but it's really stupid that they're in this situation.
They need to shit or get off the pot. Promote awesome physiques and accept steroids, or don't and don't. With Benoit's death still causing ripples, WWE can't afford to be fucking around with potential investor fraud. That could kill wrestling faster than a creative team where Russo handles the booking, Heyman handles the checkbook, and Bob Holly handles talent relations.

I think the real question here is what are TNA going to rename him to?
The BDC Approved answer is Bruce, and his gimmick would be that of a gay sailor. I personally think this would work. And this way, The One could mark out for him ;)

Fairly certain he would have to rename it.

So would he join the VKM if he's going to be a gay sailor?
Russo, with the filter of Vince McMahon, can work very well. Some shit did slip by, but for the most part it worked well.
Without the filter, he can easily book a promotion into the ground, as with both WCW and TNA. Sure, he hasn't booked TNA into the ground (yet), but a lot of shit that is obviously his gets through.

Yeah, it's not sspecifically that he's incapable of doing good, but that he's capable of doing so much bad that he can destroy a promotion. Especially if you let Paul E. at the Checkbook.

Me and the Optimist thought from the beginning that Chris Masters should be the Sexecutioner. It would make more sense, with those weird bicep tights and the ass shake thing he does at the top of the entry ramp. Obviously, he'd be the Excellence of Sexecution, and would go around Sexecuting people.

Also, I'd bet money that if he goes to TNA, he'll still do a full nelson for a finisher.

I hope Chris Masters doesnt go to TNA that company is worthless and full of crappy old guys. TNA=RETIREMENT HOME wrestling.
I wish there was a real alternative to WWE like in the days of WCW so that Chris Masters couldve gone to a real alternative and showed the WWE what they missed by releasing him. All the man needed is some extra time to improve because he was already DAMN GOOD.

Here's an idea: how about "The Full Nelson"?
Or, gay sailor gimmick allowing, "The Full-Blown-Gay Nelson".

I was thinking that too, that his new name would be some derivation of "Nelson."

Yes. Then they can have an nWo-like stable of gay sailors, and have their summer PPVs and Impact tapings at the beach and sail to the ring. And make Eric Young walk the plank. :'(

THE MASTERPIECE JOINS VPW!!!
VPW have out done themselves once more with the huge signing this morning with FORMER WWE SUPERSTAR Formerly known as CHRIS MASTERS now wrestling under his birth name of Chris Mordesky set to wrestle for the minimum of 4 VPW dates on the 19th 21st 22nd and 23rd of February 2008!
The former MASTERPIECE
will defiantly shake the foundations of VPW and possibly the foundations of
UK wrestling in altogether
unlike other UK promotion who have vowed to shake the foundations of this
countries wrestling scene a signing of former WWE star within his 1st week
of release is sure to be one to make the headlines.
within the 5 hour gap from receiving news of the record signing this morn to now the news has already caused some controversy among the VPW roster.
VPW/TNA star Kip James also known as BILLY GUNN was less then impressed on hearing the news and he had this to say:
"of course Chris Masters is coming to VPW, hell he knows its where us real wrestlers hang our boots, but damn if that kid thinks he's gonna come in thinking he's hot stuff because he's just this second stepped out of a contract then he'll have another thing coming damn I've wrestled more matches for New York then he's had hot dinners!"
of course we did get a reply from the former masterpiece right away but when we did we Chris had this to say:
"it hasn't surprised me the Billy Gunn would try and run his mouth, he has an ego and he worries because he knows stood next to me he would be nothing but in my shadow! I'm bigger stronger and I have a million dollar body! he's used to being the big man around, now ones bigger then me!"
STRONG words from both FORMER WWE STARS!
February is set to be the most explosive VPW tour to date once again raising the bar for professional wrestling in the UK!
