Wu-Tang Clan is a New York (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City)-based rap group, consisting of nine American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) rappers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapping). Among its members are multi-platinum selling solo artists, multi-platinum record producers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hip_hop_production), Grammy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy) winners, TV and film stars, screenwriters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screenwriter), product spokespersons, business (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business) owners and, most recently, major motion picture composers. The Clan featured nine MCs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapping) until the death of Ol' Dirty Bastard in 2004. One of the most critically and commercially successful hip hop groups of all time, Wu-Tang Clan shot to fame through their uncompromising brand of hardcore rap (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardcore_rap) music. Since their debut, they have introduced or launched the careers of numerous other artists and groups, and already in 1994 there were credited to be over 300 Wu-Tang Clan affiliates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wu-Tang_Clan_affiliates), known as the Wu-Tang Killa Bees, consisting of rappers, producers, and record label (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Record_label) CEOs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CEO).

Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) is easily one of my favorite rap albums of all time. Outside of the group's work as a whole, their solo efforts are hit or miss with quite a few solid discs (namely Liquid Swords and Tical). As it seems to be with most artists, though, they've seemed to drop off a bit recently. I'm hoping that the new record doesn't suck.
2/10
Never got the whole Wu-Tang thing at all.
9/10
I love that shit, simple as. Also I love the solo stuff I've heard by all of them, especially Ghostface, Inspectah Deck and the GZA. Oh and Afro Samurai ftw.

this, coupled with the fact that I'm annoyed with Fallen Angel "despising rap" is why I'm saying 10/10

I do not understand any of you. And FA, if you don't even like the genre why would you vote on this? Not that this really matters, but its just blatant bias.
To me, Wu Tang really is forever. They embody rap music, good rap music. I think their efforts both as a group and solo span across to appeal to all tastes and styles, and their work is ahead of their time. The garbage that is the "rap genre" today can't hold a candle to Wu. In a business sense they have an immense enterprise, with the Wu Tang, and the whole Wu Fam. They've spawned so many other careers besides those of the original nine and while they all might not be on the level of the Wu Tang Clan, there are quite a few that are just as good. RZA is a hell of a business man, no matter what you want to say of their music. When he led the charge when they broke onto the scene, he took them in the direction they needed to be.

Ok Going to clear a few things up, Im going 3 of each genre as I previously stated, last time it was rap, and I asked Kripsy to suggest one, which was rap, so blame Krispy.
Frazor - Its on number seven which have been 3 rock, and 4 rap so far, Im never going to please everyone with who I choose, and not going to try.
Inadequacy - You know I despise rap, because of how rap became popular it created Wiggers, I fucking Hate wiggers.
Gonzo - I rate everyone, even If I despise the genre, the reason I despise is because it all sounds the same to me, about bitches, Ho's, Nines, AK's, Ice, Pimps. I like older rap (Tupac who wasn't sooo much into that, Eminem because neither is he)
It chokes the airwaves, I never turn on the radio because its what every radio station seems to be playing
And also read Inad's reply for why I despise rap.
There are some good artists out there who do rap, and I like them, but besides those, IMO Rap has brought a gangsta culture to the world. and all I can say about that is fucking thanks.

lol C'mon man. Wu Tang broke out with 36 Chambers in 1991. Its a 16 year old record, and came out right around the time Tupac debuted. Maybe you just don't have an ear for it, some people don't. My brother listens to Ska or whatever its called and I can't listen to it because I admittedly don't have an ear for it. But Wu Tang, although they are still making music today, are older music. And Wu Tang is not all about those things you mentioned. Sure some of its incorporated, but its incorporated into 99% of rap songs ever.
It chokes the airwaves, I never turn on the radio because its what every radio station seems to be playing.
I 100% agree. The "rap" that is on the radio today, is absolutely terrible. This is why I don't listen to the radio. Most of the "rap" today, I would actually classify as hip-hoppy pop bullshit.

Wu-Tang raps about very little of what you're describing the rap genre embodies. Yes, some of it is involved but that's part of the lifestyle. That's like saying every metal band sings about Satan and killing virgins and drinking blood. Obviously, not all do. It's rather unfair to paint a group with that brush if you haven't actually listened to what they have to offer.
Also, good call on throwing NOFX out there. Amazing.

Good example, with NOFX. I can't listen to them but anyone I've ever talked to about them say they're good. I'm not going to sit here and rate them shitty or whatever, its stupid.
I don't happen to like country music at all, but I'm not going to come out and say Garth Brooks sucks either. He's arguably one of the most successful musicians ever.

I don't know what you guys are bitching about. I'd kill to not have a radio choked with country like 90% of America. Given the choice between the shit that passes for country these days and the shit that passes for Rap these days, I'd take rap. At least shitty "beats" will be less boring than shitty nasally vocals with sacharine lyrics.
And yeah, every genre has a fucking stereotype, and you can probably find a ton of bands to back up every last one of them. Not to mention, it doesn't matter if Death Metal is 1% of the scene, unless 1% is fewer than 5 bands (And since it's much more than five bands), it doesn't really matter.
Finally, Wu Tang still sucks ass. I don't care if they're not new rap, they're not sterotypical rap, or whatever, they're annoying as fuck.

Man seriously Wu-Tang are known for their stream-of-consciousness, Five Percenter lyrics, not the generic shit you might associate with the fictional 'rap' genre Evangelical-conservatives want to ban. They practically ushered in a new era of hardcore rap which was specifically against the 'gangsta' grain of the time.

Im actually considering doing this a new way, hopefully to please everyone, Im thinking of doing 4 people a day, 1 from metal/rock 1 from Country, 1 from rap/hiphop/r&b/ and another from Punk.
what you think?

I'd settle for having a little more variety, TBH. Doesn't need to be all big names, but Jesus Christ, "rock" is a catch-all, and you picked from just about the most narrow userbase you possibly could by going for GNR/Met/Staind.
