View Full Version : Japanese names...
Going through my Fire Pro renaming process, I noticed quite a few names with all capital letters (KENTA, etc). Is there some sort of significance here, or do the Japanese just like shouting?

It's usually to differenciate themselves from someone else. In KENTA's case he share the same name as other JPN star Kenta Kobayashi so he needs a way to stand out. I've heard other theories about them feeling the've been held down due to various reasons and this is a sign that says they ARE big.
But I dunno about all that.

Its because they have humorously small oriental penises.

Yeah, was thinking that, with a case like KENTA, it was to differentiate himself. Other thing would make sense.

Yeah I've heard it from several people about the being held down bit, but I dunno. Can't confirm or deny it.

Kenta Kobashi
KENTA is Kenta Kobayashi.
But yeah, they were both in "Burning" too, so it's easy to see why they changed Kenta Kobayashi to just KENTA.
Also, back in the day, I heard it was also used as a type of heelish/cocky move. That was back with TAKA and CIMA though. Although looking at KENTA, I wouldn't be surprised if they did it as an attitude type thing.

But... what's up with Magnum TOKYO? Why does TOKYO need to be all caps? WHY?!

Because he wants to be? Why is it the Hardy Boyz? Why is it spelled with a Z?
Another thing is that the names are usually written in Japanese characters, but names like KENTA and CIMA are written in romanji.

There's an easy answer there.
They're signifying their homosexuality.
To the second point, there is a large number of instances in which you will see Romanji written in CAPS. Seems there's an interesting cultutral standard going on there.

HBK, HHH, JBL, see, it's not just a japanese thing
No, that's just a grammatical thing.
When you see HBK come out as SHAWN Michaels then we'll talk.
And I don't think they've ever called Triple H "HHH"...

I was thinking of him too...Japanese people are really weird if they have to spell one or both of their names in caps...
