QUESTION - Should HBK and HHH form a heel (non-DXish) stable at some point?

So I was having a look at the HBK/Hogan feud from 2005........and wow! HBK is still a TREMENDOUS heel in my opinion. The fans really loved his character as well. The night after HBK lost to Hogan, he got a huge ovation from the crowd against Chris Masters.

Bottom line? Fans APPRECIATE true characters. With the exception of his comeback in 2002, HBK had NEVER been popped that loud before. In 2006 - Degeneration X united. Although we were all excited, it just seemed that HBK and HHH were "trying too hard" to make DX look cool.

Here are a couple of reasons why Degeneration X was a flop in 2006:

1) In 2006 - both men were trying to ACT like degenerates. In 1997 however, both men WERE DX. In 1997, the DX characters were simply a real life extension of what HHH and HBK really were. In 2007 however, they were trying to ACT.....and didn't do the greatest job.

2) Like most wrestlers, Shawn Michaels and Triple H are far better and more original as heels. When being forced to be faces, HBK and HHH's natural chemistry with one another is limited due to the fact that they have to be more scripted.

Possible Solution:

1) Have both Triple H and Shawn Michaels turn heel.

2) As we saw in 1997, let them portray characters that are much closer to their real life personna's. Triple H and HBK don't have to "ACT" ('act' being the key word here) like cocky goofballs as they did in 97', but they can still be extremely effective heels....if their heelish personalities are more similar to their real life personna's.

If it was up to me, I'd actually have
-Randy Orton
-Triple H
-Shawn Michaels

Form a heel stable. The three men form an association, that allows one of them to be the world champ on Smackdown, while another guy is world champ on RAW.

What y'all think?

With HBK and HHH as heels, this would also allow guys like Chris Jericho and Jeff Hardy (enjoying a HUGE popularity surge right now) to take the top face spots.

Personally, I think it is a good idea. I was calling for it when Chris Jericho was confirmed as returning. Triple H is so shitty as a face it is not funny. A heel turn would freshen him up, and Michaels as a heel is something relatively interesting, too.

The way I'd go about things, is to have this alliance between Triple H & Jeff Hardy become more and more tense, as Jeff Hardy says that his brother was teaming with a snake on SmackDown!, and now he's teaming with one on RAW. Jeff becomes certain Triple H is after his Intercontinental Championship. The two beat Umaga & Snitsky via disqualification, when the monsters ignore the referee, so a Tag Team Street Fight is signed for Armageddon. Shawn Michaels and Mr. Kennedy continue their rivalry, and Kennedy wants to end Michaels' career on RAW. HBK agrees to leave if he loses, but he wants Kennedy to do the same.

At Armageddon, Umaga & Snitsky defeat Triple H & Jeff Hardy in a Tag Team Street Fight, when Triple H walks out on Jeff, and just smiles as Umaga & Snitsky dismantle him. HBK defeats Mr. Kennedy, and Kennedy then goes to SmackDown!, where he belongs, in my opinion. The next night on RAW, Triple H is joking with HBK that he is too far above the Intercontinental Title to even think of going for it, and that by throwing his match last night, he proved he's too far above Jeff Hardy...period. HBK says that what Triple H did was a dickheadish move. HBK and Triple H just stare at each other, and then crack into laughter. Triple H then walks out of the room laughing, and Michaels then loses his smile when Triple H leaves, implying that HBK is not amused by the behaviour of Triple H.

Anyway, HBK runs out to save Jeff Hardy from a Triple H beat-down, but then gives Jeffrey some Sweet Chin Music. HBK and Triple H then crotch-chop, and beat-down Jeff some more. Triple H and Shawn Michaels form "The Kliq," and basically say that they run RAW, blah blah. Shawn Michaels then announces that with his victory over Mr. Kennedy at Armageddon, he is the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship, and he will challenge Ric Flair (yeah, it's weird, and I've never been big on Flair as WWE Champion again, but I say put the belt on him next week in Charlotte, with Chris Jericho assist). Triple H says he will win the Royal Rumble, and then go to SmackDown! and win the World Heavyweight Championship. HBK can then ask Triple H about the ECW Title, and Triple H can go "What title?"

At the Royal Rumble, Shawn Michaels beats Ric Flair to win his fourth WWE Championship, and fifth World Title, and he tells Triple H to join him as a two-time Rumble winner tonight. The Game says HBK has nothing to worry about. Triple H comes into the Rumble, and looks to be that damn good, but a few slots later, Jeff Hardy runs down, and goes right for Triple H, and unleashes move after move on The Game, and then dumps him out! Triple H is livid, and re-enters the match, gives Jeff Hardy a Pedigree, and then tosses him over. He doesn't beat-down Jeff Hardy any more, though, and just says he's not worth it.

Chris Jericho goes on to win the Royal Rumble, and Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho is locked for WrestleMania. Jeff Hardy continues to be a thorn in Triple H's side until the point where Triple H agrees to face Jeff Hardy, one-on-one, for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania. Triple H can say he wants to win Jeff Hardy's belt from him...then wipe his ass with it. Basically they can put it over as the first IC Title defence at WrestleMania in six years, and Jeff can defend the prestige of the IC Title, while Triple H says that the belt was a good stepping stone, but he is now the best in the business. Jeff Hardy manages to retain at WrestleMania, though, with Triple H putting over Jeff strong. Matt Hardy also manages to win the WWE United States Championship, and both Matt and Jeff celebrate together with their secondary championships.

In the main event, Chris Jericho defeats Shawn Michaels with an old-school Liontamer to win his second WWE Championship, and after that we get a rematch between Y2J and HBK at Backlash, maybe in some kind of Iron Man Match? 2/3 Falls? Anyway, Jericho again retains, and we get HBK and Triple H winning the World Tag Team Championship, and feuding with The Hardys, Matt on loan over from SmackDown!. Around this time, John Cena will probably be ready to return, and he comes back and says he forced Jericho out once, and he will do it again. All the smiles are gone, and John Cena is just bitter to the world. He manages to defeat Chris Jericho with help from Triple H & Shawn Michaels, and we get John Cena, Shawn Michaels & Triple H as WWE Champion and World Tag Team Champions, "The Kliq", running RAW.

People would make DX comparisons.

Also, talk of them stuffing the main event and holding down everyone else on the roster would go crazy.

And it'd probably be right.

Long story short, I can't see Jericho, Hardy, or really anyone else going over Shawn and Trips in one fell swoop in any capacity. Somebody's gotta job, and everyone's gonna bitch.
