What should it be? In fact, feel free to discuss the entire card.

Personally, I don't think anything other than Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho should be considered. At the moment, they are probably the two hottest acts on RAW, as well as two of the best wrestlers (if not the two very best). They had a classic at WrestleMania XIX, and now five years later they clash again for the WWE Championship? It just seems great to me.

As for the World Heavyweight Championship match, I personally don't like Edge vs. The Undertaker, which is heavily rumoured. It grows on me, and I'll probably get OK with it when it happens, but I really think Edge vs. Mr. Kennedy is the way to go. Have Kennedy win the 2008 Royal Rumble, after doing a Ric Flair, and just surviving like crazy. He rides the momentum of the win into a face turn, while still staying the same cockhead character, and he jumps to SmackDown!. He and Edge basically do a "I ended your undefeated streak...I stole your briefcase...I'm taking your belt" thing. Kennedy beating Edge for his first World Title at WrestleMania would be a great start for his career as a full-time main eventer (and it will happen, people).

As for the ECW Championship match, I was thinking CM Punk vs. Mick Foley up until today. Mick Foley is great at putting young guys over, and Foley challenging for the ECW Title at WrestleMania is a great way to establish it at the event. Have Foley tell Punk that he's impressed, but he doesn't think Punk is there, because the ECW Title is considered lesser to the other two belts. Punk says that he will give Foley a chance to help him raise the prestige, by defending it against him. Give them ECW Rules, and watch another of Mick Foley's classics. Punk retains, and looks like a million bucks in the process.

The other option is to build up some kind of athletic contest between CM Punk, John Morrison & Shelton Benjamin. Elijah Burke, Tommy Dreamer, The Miz or even Charlie Haas could be added to the match to make it a Fatal Fourway. It would be a lot of fun, and uses current wrestlers.

So yeah, my three title matches would be:

* Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho for the WWE Championship
* Edge vs. Mr. Kennedy for the World Heavyweight Championship
* CM Punk vs. Mick Foley in an Extreme Rules Match for the ECW Championship

Triple H vs Undertaker vs John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Title.

Chris Jericho vs Carlito

MVP vs Mr Kennedy

Snitsky vs Big Daddy V

CM Punk vs Shelton Benjamin vs Charlie Haas for the ECW title

Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy in a TLC match for the IC title

Edge vs Batista in a Vickie Guerrero on a pole match

Those Redneck Tag Champs vs The Highlanders

Paul London, Brian Kendrick & Val Venis vs The Great Khali & Hornswoggle

PS 'Noid, having Punk vs Foley is a terrible idea and will make the brand look ridiculous. Under no circumstances should Mick Foley be near a Mania title match ever again.

Jericho vs Michaels I agree with, as long as Michaels goes into the match with the WWE title. I'd rather see Edge win the fake WHC from the Undertaker and end the streak. Then I want to see Kane destroy someone to win the ECW title, just because I want to see Kane do something memorable, and I think they might actually go for that. Also I don't give a rat's ass about ECW or their title and never have.

Hopefully the Orton/Jericho and Edge/Taker fueds that have had the first seeds for planted this week are held off and built towards Mania

I can see Hardy/HHH becoming a hugely popular tag team/ face alliance until HHH pedigrees him out of nowhere and they fued. So maybe this is a mania possibility?

MVP/Matt Hardy has been such a well managed fued and has been executed thus far without a payoff match, and now with MVP taking him out of action for a couple months, it looks like the payoff could come at Mania.

Lets not forget about HBK, he'll have something to do. I probably would have put him and Kennedy against eachother in a fued, but it looks like they're doing that now. So who knows

Batista and Lashley will have to have their sorry asses on the card in some sort of a semi main event. Sucks, but it's true. So why not throw them together in a clash of the titans type deal.

Umaga should eat Hornswaggle

I get the feeling the WWE was going to do a Cena/Batista match. As well as a Kennedy/HHH title fued for the McMahon honor and a Edge/Taker streak and streak title match. And aside from the last one it all went to shit

Main Event: WWE Championship: Edge v. Taker to end the streak I'd love to see Edge v. Kennedy but there's always next year with those two. (I mean barring any death or TNA switch) My only question is who should be Champion? I think Taker Should take the belt from Batista and have one last good run maybe.. or maybe Edge should just hold it out and Thus have the last match Taker is gonna hold out and win it and go undefeated again and win the title! But comes up short thus retires, or maybe he wins retires and the belt goes vacant.

Or maybe Flair v. Taker would be cool... I dunno.... Both men's last match?

Mr. Kennedy v. Triple H World Heavyweight Title match (only if he gets revealed as the true son, once Hornswoggle is found out to be a fake.)

-otherwise-

Jericho v. Michaels sounds amazing

but I see Jericho v. Orton v. Triple H (or Flair) v. Michaels probably happening

Flair v. Kennedy is intriguing But it'd have to be for a higher title

but if flair replaces Triple H in the main event or if the main event is one on one

Triple H v. Kennedy no title

Foley v. Punk sounds good

Colt Cabana v. punk sounds better

Punk v. Funk would be nice

If Dreamer got way over that'd be cool

or Punk v. Funk v. Richards hardcore match would never happen but be cool

I'd like to see Spanky and Kenderick v. Taylor and Regal...

or Harry Smith and Teddy Hart v. Spanky and Kenderick... mmm

I"m not saying it's a good move from a business standpoint, or a creative standpoint. I'm saying I want to see the goddamn match, and thats the only way it would happen. I don't see where this years Wrestlemania is going, but aside from Jericho winning the title, or Edge snapping Takers streak I don't see where it's gonna do it for me. And those two things are possible, and would happen on my watch, but I wouldn't put money on them happening.

Mr. Nerfect
11-27-2007, 07:24 AM
Alright, here is my take on the entire card:

WWE Championship: Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho

This is just the best match possible. HBK and Y2J are just the best two wrestlers to stick out there, and neither guy is probably 'roided up, which helps on that front. This would be another WrestleMania classic, I think. Jericho winning the WWE Championship in the main event of WrestleMania would make a lot of people happy, and might restore some interest from older (smart) fans in the product.

World Heavyweight Championship: Edge vs. Mr. Kennedy

I can see the attraction in Edge vs. The Undertaker, I really can, but I just don't like the idea of them passing off Edge as undefeated when he lost last year. Mr. Kennedy just has a marathon run in the Royal Rumble, actually wins, jumps to SmackDown!, and lets Edge know its payback time for what he did to him. Kennedy could be a great anti-hero in the feud, rationalising that Edge might be slimey enough to beat the good guys, but Kennedy isn't a good guy, and is more of an asshole than even Edge.

ECW Championship: CM Punk vs. John Morrison vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Charlie Haas

Yes, I decided to go with this match. I like the Mick Foley idea, but it is mainly used in absence of anything better. With Shelton Benjamin moving to ECW, there might actually be a fresh match for ECW somewhere. This would be a match with four great athletes. Charlie Haas is not as high-flying as the others, but he is not bad, and could help ground the match, and definitely keep up pace. Haas chases Shelton over from RAW, and wants payback, but by this time, all any of these four men want is the ECW Championship.

The Undertaker vs. Bobby Lashley

This is one for the marks. This match has been tossed over in my head for a while, but this might be the first time I've ever mentioned it. When was the last time we saw a face battle The Undertaker at WrestleMania? Wouldn't it be somewhat interesting to see one of the WWE's Superman characters try and end The Undertaker's streak? Lashley has nothing more pressing at WrestleMania to do, and he's already lost at the event. The WWE could have The Undertaker go over here, with two Tombstones, make Lashley look like a major player, and put him over as Taker's "toughest challenge at WrestleMania yet." Face vs. face matches actually get fans excited, because they do pick sides, and they get quite territorial about it, and really get anxious about who wins.

Ric Flair vs. Randy Orton

I'm not a big fan of either guy wrestling at this point, but I think this match would make sense for WrestleMania. Flair isn't allowed to lose, and Orton is just a cock who wants to end Flair's career for the sake of it. Orton lost to Flair on RAW, but they can actually use that to build the match. Orton was the start of this arc of Flair's career, and the end of it. I'd love to see someone like Kenny Dykstra or Elijah Burke get t

Batista vs. JBL

This match actually seems right for WrestleMania. Batista goes over, and continues his impressive WrestleMania record with another win. Should be a shitty match, but from a storyline perspective, and with JBL talking a lot, it could be passable.

WWE Intercontinental Championship: Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy

These two are facing off at Armageddon, without the IC Title on the line. Perfect. Have Jeff Hardy request the belt be on the line, but have Triple H decline the title match. Hardy asks why, and Triple H says that he thinks he is above the IC Title. Jeff Hardy gets pissed off, and the two have a match, and Hardy pushes The Game to the limit, but gets knocked off with the Pedigree. Triple H is impressed, and actually walks out with the IC belt, but then the referee reminds him it wasn't for the title, and he tosses the belt back at Jeff, and then looks to climb back into the ring, as Jeff is recovering, and says "I might just change my mind."

Jeff and Triple H continue their tension in the weeks that follow, with Jeff telling Triple H he plans to throw him out of the Royal Rumble Match. Hardy achieves that, and Triple H does not take too kindly, and re-enters, tossing Jeff out in response. Hardy then requests another match with Triple H, this time with the IC Title on the line. Triple H wins, and is obviously happy to have the title, but cuts a series of promos talking about how he is above it, and he was just saving the belt that once meant so much from Jeff Hardy.

Anyway, the two have the first IC Title match at WrestleMania in six years, and Jeff Hardy manages to get the victory ("third time's the charm"), and wins his fifth Intercontinental Championship by ending Triple H's sixth reign with the belt. After the match, Triple H gets the belt, and looks to hand it to Jeff Hardy out of respect, but then cheap shots him, and puts him in position for the Pedigree, only for Matt Hardy to run out for the save. Matt and Jeff clear the ring of Triple H, and then celebrate with their gold. Matt of course ends up with gold after...

WWE United States Championship: MVP vs. Matt Hardy

Matt Hardy's injury is a blessing in disguise for this feud. Just have MVP hang onto the US Title, claim he's better than everyone else, and generally just do what he's doing. Matt Hardy returns, maybe with a little more cockiness to him, just so he's more colourful than what he currently is, personality wise, and maybe have a few Matt Facts like "Matt Hardy is going to win the US Title at WrestleMania." The two have a great match at Mania, where Matt Hardy wins his first United States Championship.

Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Elijah Burke vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Finlay vs. Umaga vs. Kane vs. Paul London vs. Brian Kendrick vs. Chavo Guerrero

Kane, Finlay and Rey Mysterio would be the top faces in this match. Rey Mysterio qualifies, and he sees this as his biggest chance in a while to become a World Champion, again. Kane says he's hungry to be the top guy, and this match will let him hurt people. Finlay would hopefully be a badass babyface at this point, and he's put over as the best wrestler to never be a World Champion (whether it's accurate or not), and he says he gets to take his fate into his hands, and make sure it happens with the MITB title shot. Umaga is put into the match by Vince McMahon, to make sure Finlay doesn't win, and as a reward for his hard work and loyalty to the McMahon family. Chavo Guerrero qualifies, and his feud with Rey is played up. Paul London & Brian Kendrick win a tag team qualifying match to get them in, because the tag team dynamic in a match like this is put over as interesting by William Regal. He wants to see whether or not the two underdogs can overcome the singles guys. If the WWE really wants to get smart, they can have Regal put over their performance in their only Ladder Match to date, against him. They basically bump around. Elijah Burke is the only guy from ECW to get in, and he claims that it will be the rise of the Black Pope, and that he will reveal the true limitless nature of his greatness at WrestleMania.

As far as the match goes, London & Kendrick bump around like crazy, and actually get quite a bit of offence in as a tandem, and they even work a spot where they have everyone down, but they then implode and go at it, as JBL laughs on commentary, and Ashley runs down and yells at them to get their shit together at ringside. Umaga takes a massive spill, as he'd be up for it. I could see Finlay being responsible, although I could see Umaga just throwing everything he has at Finlay, but Finlay evading and Umaga taking himself out. Finlay could climb for the briefcase, but have it risen by Vince, who stands on the stage laughing as Finlay can't win. Finlay then gives chase and starts beating the crap out of Vince McMahon, which I'm sure the fans would love.

The winner? Elijah Burke seems like more of the MITB type, but it might be too early. He isn't really established as a main event player, and the shot would get him places on RAW and SmackDown! without anything else on his resume. It just feels weird. Paul London & Brian Kendrick would just be in the match to fly around. I think the best choice for winner would come down to Kane, Rey Mysterio or Chavo Guerrero. Chavo winning would be fucking greatness, and it might actually get "The Last Warrior" over as something. The face victory for Rey Mysterio or Kane might make the fans happy. Kane pulling down the briefcase would be a great moment, and Kane showing up and Chokeslamming the Champions on each brand whilst taunting them with the briefcase would be a great way to take his character. I'd personally go with the Kane win, as he Chokeslams Chavo off the ladder. Umaga is out of the equation, after taking a massive bump, as are Paul London & Brian Kendrick, respectively. Elijah Burke runs to Vince McMahon's aid against Finlay, and he and Finlay brawl, keeping them out of the decision. It comes down to Kane climbing the ladder, Chavo trying to snatch it out from under him, getting Chokeslammed off, as Rey Mysterio is at the foot of the ladder, about to knock Kane off, but being just a bit slow to the punch.

A little note: I'd love to see Jamie Noble run out during this match, claiming it is a travesty he is not in the match. Have him lose to Rey Mysterio, Finlay or Kane in a qualifying match, after he actually does well against them. He petitions not being included, and tries to snatch the briefcase during this, but takes a massive bump.

World Tag Team Championship: Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch vs. Cody Rhodes & DH Smith vs. Hardcore Holly & Val Venis

I know, Noid, get off the crack. Val Venis will probably next make another WrestleMania card...ever, but I think this match would be a nice one for the World Tag Team Titles, if not the most epic. The story here is simple: Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch are the World Tag Team Champions (they deserve the belts right now, and deserve a place at WrestleMania), and Holly & Rhodes have a little split, with Rhodes saying that Holly was a hack. Holly begins re-teaming with Venis, as a team of disgruntled veterans, while Rhodes & Smith join forces as a second and third generation Superstar, respectively, looking to step out of the shadows of the past, and instead make names for themselves. Rhodes & Smith winning here would make the most sense.

Tournament Finals for the vacant WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Jamie Noble vs. Matt Sydal

The definition of a cool-down match. Just place this between two big matches earlier in the night (Jamie Noble should take his big bump after it, so it has to go on before the MITB Ladder Match). Matt Sydal hasn't been in OVW for long, but I don't think it would do too much harm calling him up. If not, you can replace Matt Sydal's name with Johnny Jeter's name. Fuck, even TJ Wilson or Jimmy Wang Yang would do. The Cruiserweight Title being decided at WrestleMania for a third time would be a great way to bring it back, assuming the WWE does have plans to eventually restore the division. The babyface goes over here, with a roll-up, starting phase one of Jamie Noble's bad night.

WWE Women's Championship: Beth Phoenix vs. Mickie James

This is just the best match the ladies can put forward right now. It is happening at Armageddon, but fuck that. Just have Phoenix cheat her ass off to retain the title, and have Mickie continue to chase. Use their past to add heat to it, and have Mickie win her fourth Women's Title here.

Without putting in any unification matches or anything, I would like the card to look something like:

WWE Championship
Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho

WHC Championship
The Undertaker vs. Edge

Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels

Then mix up Jeff Hardy, Umaga, Kane, and Matt Hardy in random matches and get Drowning Pool to perform the Star Spangled Banner or whatever. I really think they should go for those three matches though.

Its strange, but the card for Armageddon contains a few matches I think would be better suited for Wrestlemania.

Like Orton/Jericho, HHH/Jeff Hardy and even HBK/Kennedy. Even putting Edge and Taker in the ring together for the title already seems premature if they want to make that the WHC main event.

Personally for me - I would have DEFINITELY had John Cena in the main-event had he not been injured.

Either John Cena vs. Dave Batista, or even John Cena vs. The Rock (maybe not the "main-event" match of the evening....or even the final match on the card, but just a match between the two men). This would somewhat similar to Rock/Hogan from 6 years ago.

As of right now? I don't know who I'd go with. Jeff Hardy vs Triple H is something that comes to mind (but they're doing that very soon from what I hear...so). I dunno - Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton makes sense.

Assuming Jeff Hardy can continue his tremenous momentum as a face while Orton develops even more as a heel, perhaps this match can hold some interest (although I'm not sure if the fans will ever TRULY see Jeff Hardy as a main-eventer). It's always great to cheer for the underdog but after awhile, things can go south pretty quick (i.e. Rey Mysterio, X-Pac, etc.).

Right now - the lack of depth in the WWE might make Wrestlemania's main-event very week. You'll either have guys that are too green, not over enough, too stale, or people that have been main-eventing forever.

Very true. Your options include guys who are either overdone in the Mania main event (HHH, Taker, Batista, Shawn) or guys who aren't ready as options for the big winter push (Jeff Hardy, Kennedy, MVP).

Orton will probably remain heel champion until Mania, I would assume. Who knows what they'll do with Edge and Jericho.

There's ust not one match that jumps off the page as being very fresh or a natural go to. In many ways, they're doing fued right now that would be better suited for Mania if built right from the get go until then.

After thinking about it a little, I'd consider going with Randy Orton vs. Dave Batista as the main-event for Wrestlemania. The match won't be the greatest (or even good?), but here's my rationale behind this:

1) The interpromotional match (champ vs. champ perhaps?) would generate interest.

2) If Orton and Batista can look unbeatable from now until Wrestlemania, it can add to the hype.

3) Randy Orton and Dave Batista are one of the few guys at current that haven't been around forever (i.e. like Jericho, Triple H, Edge, Undertaker, HBK, etc.), or are too green (i.e. Ken Kennedy, MVP), or simply aren't looked at as legit main-eventers (i.e. Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Rey Mysterio).

If the WWE wants to move forward, then they need to stop living in the past (so perhaps this is why Jericho, Triple H, Edge, Undertaker, and HBK shouldn't be the main-event......although if Jericho becomes huge again, then I'd change my mind). On the other hand, the WWE can't be having guys who are too green, or guys that the fans' simply don't perceive as main-eventers.

For me? Orton vs. Batista.

If Cena was still around? Cena vs. Batista.

Jeritron

I'd def have gone with Cena vs Batista title for title this year if he were around.

Just from a business standpoint and the fact they're the faces of their respective show, and got pushed around the same time and never faced off.

At this point I'd like to see Edge vs Taker and I wish Jericho/Orton was being built for Mania instead of fuckin Armageddon

who knows, maybe Jericho will win the title at Armageddon or Rumble and someone will face him. I doubt it at this point, but it seems like everyone including myself is just assuming Orton's in the Wrestlemania main event when he very well could be slated to drop the belt before the event.

I agree with Heyman

Hindu World Order has it right

If Cena wasn't injured, a Cena vs. Batista babyface vs. babyface classic would've been fresh for WM.

Thing is, Orton has to really gain some serious momentum going into WM as Champ

He just looks like some heel with the title. Then again, he won it, due to circumstance. If this was summer 2004, it would've been different, but from then he was jobbing to Taker daily, jumping back to RAW, being his dad's sidekick so he lost that aura about him

And it doesn't look like he's getting anything back. Transitional champ, or 'keep Cena's belt warm until he returns' Champ

Assuming Orton retains until WM and doesn't face Jericho, Hardy, HHH or HBK....I'd put him against Batista in a unification match. Their fued is basically written, from the days of Evolution and their little run in at WM22

A Jericho vs HBK rematch featuring a different outcome sounds about right.
And a 3 stages of Hell match between HHH and Hardy sounds good to me too

Jericho vs. HBK isn't a big enough draw for this years' WM main event. It's only a smarks dream. A strong '2nd Main Event' but not THE main event
