I say he'll win at Backlash. He'll have the huge home field advantage. And I think it would mean more if he won in Edmonton.

Benoit's one of my all-time favorites, but I'm gonna have to vote #3. Not because I agree with him not being World Title material, but because I don't think he's going to win it.

Wrestlemania= there's no way in hell HHH or Michaels will allow themselves to look bad during the biggest wrestling event ever. Benoit's only there to be fodder.

Backlash= Vince loves f</>ucking over the hometown hero, so I highly doubt this will be any exception, especially since H will be the defending champ.

I can't say I don't want Benoit to win at Wrestlemanis, but I think its unlikely. Just because the only rumors about that match that I've heard is that Triple H is going to retain, only to lose it to Benoit at Backlash.

So pray that Benoit gets his big break at Wrestlemania.

If he does win the title I think it'll probably be in Edmonton, but then again McMahon does love to screw people over in their hometown. I voted 2, but now Im thinking I should have voted 3.

The plan right now is for him to win at Mania, of course last year the plan was to have BT win the belt in Seattle, so a lot can happen in a week.

I think its important for Benoit to win at Mania, because that will be a lasting memory and will happen in front of the biggest PPV audience of the year.

Yeah he'll get a bigger pop in Edmonton, but you can still have Benoit come in to Edmonton, defend the title, and you'll still get that same pop.

I picked Backlash, even though I want to see him win it at WMXX

It would be a mistake for HHH to win at Wrestlemania, I think the biggest show almost always needs a new champ to walk out because after mania, is kind of the "downtime" of the wrestling year, if HHH wins, people won't care enough for the title and probably won't even bother getting Backlash. Every year after mania a new direction is taken, if HHH is still champ, no new direction is taken and we get another boring year in wrestling.

I agree.

Also, hometown or not, giving Benoit the title at Backlash would be a stupid idea, and would kill off any hope of Benoit being anywhere near as over as a win at Mania would be. The aura of having a win in your hometown only really applies to the hometown crowd. For the rest of us, it's just another PPV. Wrestlemania 20, on the other hand, is going to be the most important match of his career.

Example: Hogan/Andre. Everyone remembers the match at Mania 3, but very very few remember the rematch where Andre won the title. Sure, it garnered huge ratings at the time, but in the long run it was long forgotten. Wrestlemania is the one with history to it. The rematch didn't mean shit.

The same applies here. Wrestlemania is the biggest show in the industry, and pretty much the entire wrestling world will be watching Benoit get f</>ucked over. Backlash is a piddling little secondary PPV that will only matter to the folks who were actually there, and will mean even less since it's coming off the heels of the biggest show of them all. Plus, since tons of people will probably be turned off from watching HHH win again, even less people will give a damn.

They're not doing this because a hometown win will mean more. They're doing this to make Benoit's title win meaningless, so they can claim that he's not over enough and use that as an excuse to keep Michaels and HHH on top. Mania's the important match. Backlash doesn't mean shit.

I think I will have to go with Mania. It all leads up to this and he is basically everyones pick to win it. Vince could screw our picks up though by making him lose and then Backlash he gets it. To many things can happen.

I said WMXX just because it would almost be a shock to everyone if he DID end up the winner in a clean match. Not that I really think HHH or HBK would job at such a big time event, but the reaction of everyone in the crowd and watching on tv would be unbelievable if Beniot actually managed to win a clean pin-fall at WM.
