Okay, so here's the thing. I'm trying to record vocals and guitar in two separated channels, but my acoustic keeps getting picked up on my microphone. I could reduce the levels on the mic, but I risk parts of my vocals not being picked up.

Is there any quick and/or easy way to isolate the two instruments? I've tried fucking around with padding, but nothing's really worked so far.

Can you not record them seperately and mix them together??

I was about to suggest the same. Like lay down the acoustic first, then run it through some headphones when it's time to do the vocals.

I can, but I'd rather not.

Especially since it's a track with no percussion and a decent share of tempo changes.

There is no way you will get isolation using mikes.

But anyways, if your mikes have a figure of 8 polar patten, switch them to that. They will then pick up from the front and back, but not the sides. Make sure that the sides of the mikes are facing one another.

vox 0|0

minimal pick-up.

guitar 0|0

Though, this all depends if you are close miking your guitar.

Close micing? No clue what that means.

I'm using an acoustic-electric and jacking it in that way.
