View Full Version : Who deserves the title the most?
Jeritron

Out of everyone in professional wrestling, what wrestler WHO HASN'T YET HELD A WORLD TITLE most deserves to become the next world wrestling champion in their, or another, promotion?
For instance, I'd love to see Edge Jericho Christian HBK or HHH as world champions again sometime soon....but they've been champions before
So...who is the most deserving to be the next first time world champion in wrestling and why?
And along with that, who do you think will be and why?
discuss.

Right now, no one. The closest are both Hardies and MVP. None of them are quiet there yet. After Jeff wins against HHH, he should be in the mainevent and in a title hunt. Matt and MVP are really close to the edge as well. As for everyone else, no one else is even close.
Also, in TNA, Roode needs to be built up a litte more then he would be a great pick for a home grown TNA champion.

Yeah, there aren't many top names who haven't been World Champion before. As far as "deserving" I'd have to say Finlay. Even though the only World Title he'd ever win would be the ECW Title, since I don't see him headlining SD! or RAW as World Champion.
But who do I think will become the next first time champion? I'd have to say Jeff Hardy or MVP.

Anwyays, Hardcore Holly and Mark Henry, though far from deserving, are always on my mind as potential first-time champions. MVP might well be the next first-timer, and assuming he doesn't slip up, he'd deserve it.

Since 96, since I don't feel like going back any further even though I do know the title histories from memory
96: Michaels, Sid
97: none
98: Austin, Kane, Rock, Foley
99: HHH, ...Vince
00: Angle
01: Jericho
02: Brock
03: none
04: Eddie, JBL, Orton
05: Cena, Batista

That means 2008 will probably have a few, maybe not, but that seems to be a trend.
I can see Jeff Hardy picking up a short run, and either MVP or Kennedy getting a push to the World Heavyweight or WWE title as heels
TNA will probably never make another champion who hasn't been champion somewhere else (besides Christian)

You know, Jeff Hardy has been wrestling with the WWE since 97
That means that if he wins a world title, he'll have been around in his company longer before getting the belt than anyone who ever won a world title. I think.
It took Shawn and Bret a while, since they were there since the 80s, but still not 10 years

You know, I"m not going to lie, when Umaga first came I hated him. And since a few of his fueds and some of his work with guys like Vince, HHH, Hardy and Lashley I've gotten to like him a bit. To me, he's over and a good bigman that they should roll with and not bury.
BUT, then and now I still maintain that if he wins the title the WWE title will no longer be the same. Even with mediocre champs there has still been a standard and I feel giving him the belt would be a slap in face to those standards, which I feel was done once before when it was given to Sid.

I'm not really sure whythey do that though. I'd assume its from some kind of merchandising standpoint. It's just odd to me that when Cena's not holding the belt the spinner sticks around. They just put a new spinner in it or stop the spinner to try and "personalize" it, but they should just revert back to the regular belt when he doesn't hold it.
Just like the Smoking Skull belt.
But of course they probably figure the spinner belt sells more toys and replicas than the plain one, so it stays on tv.

Yeah it looks a bit retarded tbh. They should make a new rainbow one when Jeff wins it next year. Or maybe one with steroids inside if Kennedy wins it. :o
OK. ** cue FourFifty mark out here **
But I honestly believe that Kane deserves a decent title run.
Is it fair to discount him by including his one-day *sigh* reign back in '98?
This guy consistently puts out for the company. Shows up every week. Jobs when asked. Gives 100% in just about every match.
The guy deserves to be rewarded with a world title. I love his matches - how many big men can fly off the tope rope?
I'm not saying Jeff, Matt or MVP don't deserve a run, I just think Kane needs some recognition. :y:
Little kids buy that stupid fucking belt, because little kids like stupid fucking John Cena. It's not fair for anyone OVER the age of 13, but you get the idea.
I think CM Punk deserves to win the World Heavyweight Title. He's proven that he's got potential to be a huge star; they've just locked him down to the C-brand since he got to the WWE (and I'm SO surprised...) and haven't really given him anything dynamic to do with the ECW Title.
If not Punk, Jeff Hardy should get a WWE Title run, if only as an "award" sort of deal like Mick Foley's wins. Matt I just don't think is there yet.
Only other guy I can think of that should be there soon would be Kennedy. I know he's not the most popular guy on these forums right now, but the guy has that it-factor, if WWE would just capitalize on it and give him some good shit to say instead the crap they've been feeding him since he got to RAW.

The following men are really deserving, in my opinion:
William Regal
Val Venis
Finlay
Matt Hardy
Kane
Kane has technically been a World Champion before, but his reign lasted about a day. The guy has been one of the more solid big man performers the WWE has ever had. If Big Daddy V or Mark Henry win the ECW Championship before Kane, I'm going to be very disappointed. He should have been the WWE's choice for World Heavyweight Champion when Edge got injured.
William Regal is probably one of the best performers the WWE has. In the ring he is gold, he's a legitimate tough guy, and he's amazing on the mic. He can play face or heel roles well, and he is truly someone who deserves a courtesy run.
Val Venis is the best bumper the WWE has. Not in terms of falling off ladders, or anything, but as far as taking a move like a suplex goes, he's just the best. He's fallen into his role as "enhancement talent" well, and I expect him to be one of those lifers who ends up as a road agent/commentator. Him winning a World Title would be the ultimate thank you. Someone like Hardcore Holly is eligible for this, but Venis is just better in the ring than Holly, and better on the mic, and quite frankly better. If Venis wins the World Title, then we can talk about Holly.
Matt Hardy is the better Hardy, in my opinion. He's got a much greater understanding of how to structure a match, he's better on the mic, and he's just always been my favourite. So yeah, this is a little biased. When he returns, Matt Hardy should beat MVP for the US Title at WrestleMania, and then start building towards a massive feud with Edge. The WWE really dropped the ball with him fresh off his return in 2005. He could have been massive. Jeff is improving, but like Venis/Holly, we can talk about Jeff once Matt gets there.

Sorry. I know it was 24 hours but it happened. I agree he deserves another reign if they can push him back to his former glory, but for the purposes of this thread he's no longer a title virgin.
Mr. Nerfect
12-06-2007, 06:41 AM
I completely left out an explanation for Finlay, my mistake. The guy is not as talented on the mic as William Regal, but he has a similar wrestling style. Since getting back in the ring, Finlay has dragged some great matches out of guys like Batista, and has a great badass charisma around him. I would be all for the WWE turning him face and pushing him towards the World Heavyweight Championship, provided he retains the same character.

You know, people will say what they want about both the Hardys and that's fine. I can see where they're coming from.
But Jeff Hardy is the star. He deserves that WWE title before Matt even deserves to touch the US belt.
With that being said, my vote is for Jeff Hardy. It's time to give him the strap. He's proven them wrong, he's over enough and ready to hold the belt. He doesn't need the mic skills, he's over as fuck and should go over someone to win that belt. Even if it's only or a month.

Jeff Hardy for sure, like BDC said, after he beats HHH (and not if...). As for Matt, I think he still needs to focus on winning and having a run with his first individual title (i.e., the United States championship), and having a solid run with it to cement his status as a legit Main Eventer, before going on and winning the World or WWE championship. Yes, he is a very hard worker who leaves everything in the ring, but he needs to prove he can carry the US title and still be motivated, a hard worker with great charisma and mic skills, and have at least a 5-6 month reign with the US belt, before I'd consider him Main Event champion material.
Matt and Jeff should be the new Bret and Owen in 2008.

Can you imagine the eruption that Jeff Hardy would get if he won it from Orton on RAW? Like, if they announced the match at the VERY beginning of RAW, then all this anticipation came. Matt would show up on TV and wish him the best of luck. The match goes on and just when Jeff is about to win, the ref is knocked out.
Then someone comes and does their finisher to Jeff. Jeff kicks out of the count and whoever did w/e to him tries to come back in, but Matt comes out and stops him. Randy tries the RKO and Jeff reverses and does the Twist of Fate. Randy kicks out and then does the RKO and Jeff kicks out (THAT would make the fans erupt). Both men get up (sort of WM 23 with Cena/HBK) and Jeff gets a roll up for the win.
The place would go fucking nuts. Yea, i wouldn't exactly give him a loooong run, just one of those Mick Foley-type of wins. One of those "if you missed it...you MISSED it".

A little off topic, but I fully expect them to go with Jeff Hardy hitting a Swanton Bomb at Armageddon, only to get a very close two count, to tease the fans. Then Triple H hits a Pedigree...and Jeff kicks out! Then a second one puts Hardy down.
