Great Tag team or over hyped hackes that were simply at the right place at the right time constantly?

By the time the Dudley were anything in ECW, ECW was already going into its boon period, and all they did was the most basic cussing out the audience. Something anyone could do, they were just the ones doing it. The didn't invent table matchs or even flaming table matches, they just got the credit. When they came to WWE, WWE was already massively over. And they just did a watered down version of what they did in ECW. Plus they worked with the Hardies and Edge and Christian, arguable 2 of the best tag teams to ever exist. So a lot of what they have was being at the right place at the right time. Also they managed not to stink up the ring.

I'm not saying they weren't entertaining to watch. I'm just wondering are they actaully great or did they happen to be working at the right time?

What other team has stayed together so long without getting 'that' stale?

The only reason they aren't 'that' stale is because they have worked 3 different promotions. And they are 'that' stale. And final, The Road Warriors.

You could make the 'right place, right time' with tons of people if you really wanted to. To tell the truth, the Dudleys have a very specific type of charisma and a very special chemistry with each other as a tag team. Not to mention, if you listen to almost any wrestler shoot interviews, they almost unanimously agree that Bubba Dudley has one of the most genius wrestling minds in the business. He is very quick at piecing things together, can whip up excellent ideas and spots to use in matches, and both of the Dudleys have wonderful storytelling abilities when they are in the ring. And that's saying something considering they've been involved in some fairly weird storylines over the years. They can make you love or hate them on a whim. Also, forme their characters are set up in a way that they can make almost anything make sense. Who else would powerbomb an 80 year old lady off of a soundstage other than a sadistic, 'not all there', fat guy hick that grew up in some town that nobody has ever heard of? They always played things off as either not knowing any better or just not caring for our normal social expectations. It was pretty perfect actually. So, they could have been in the right place at the right time but it reallys takes talent, charisma, and the chemistry they have to pull off some of the things they did.

All I have every heard about Bubba Dudley is that he is a selfish douche bag and only cares to get his spots in.

I saw the Rise And Fall of ECW documentary and he didnt seem that bad. Others described like the kind of responsibilities he took on to help financially wise.

I love them in TNA right now. I'd put them up there as one of the top heels in the the wrestling world at the moment. Above Randy Orton, above Edge.

Dudleys were always boring, and they're as bland as ever since TNA. E & C And The Hardyz always were better than them

I always kind of thought of the Dudleys as the "also-rans" in the TLC business.

I liked them in the WWF/E for a while (Only saw them in ECW for a couple of weeks before they left). They mainly worked with E & C and the Hardyz.. the two most over tag teams at that time, and ever. Once the tag division started to die down, they got boring... and really stale to me. Even with fresh new tag teams to work with, they blah'd it up.

I haven't enjoyed them once in TNA. All they do is bitch and complain about WWE, while still looking and doing the exact same things they did towards the end of their WWE days (even using a shittyrip off of their latest theme in WWE). When was the last time they actually had a good match? 2002?

It's mainly Bubba though. I don't really have a problem with Devon. He doesn't talk, and doesn't stink it up in the ring... He just follows Bubba's lead. I haven't heard any bad rumors about Devon. He could be a huge asshole like Bubba's been rumored to be, but I have no idea.

Lucky enough to be around when E&C, The Hardys and even Jericho & He-Who-Never Existed, could put on a memorable Ladder or TLC match.

IMO they were carried by these wrestlers moreso than being leaders or innovators.

So, right place, right time - but could easily be LC

^ Pretty good dudleys' trip video right there. Has the Mae/Trish/Terri table powerbombs and has the bubbabomb off the SD stage to Hardy.

Was always kind of indifferent to the Deadlys. Hate the Wassup Drop tho. They have too many moves that require the receiving guy to lay there like a complete choad, a `la The Worm.

LAME.

When they came to the WWF as the table smashing freaks, it was good. That gimmick wasn't around in the WWF at the time so it was fresh and new. The wassup headbutt to th crotch came around during a time when moves that like that were appreciated.

But they never changed anything. They changed their name because they had to. But they haven't changed their ring style, their move set, their promo style; nothing. They're the same damn Dudleys from 2000. And yes, they are boring as hell.

Dudleys have always been over glorified. They're two guys with decent skills who hit the right placed at the right time, and got over based on the pushed concept that they innovated tables in wrestling. Their legacy is that they've been promoted as having a legacy since before they did anything to warrent a legacy.

They arent a top teir tag team, but one of the better. They had nice runs at the top, good sticks, and have a killer finisher than can come out of nowhere (well in terms of tag finishers)

They are not on the level of th Harts/Bulldogs/Freebirds/roadwarrior types, but are on level with the Rockers, Demolition, Harlem Heat etc
