It would bring a freshness to the wwe. In turn Batista could go heel which by all rights he should be.

thoughts and comments more than welcome

He was but it wasn't anything memorable or even good. His promos work as a cocky heell, but he doesn't have that "it" factor like Rock and Austin do for cutting a promo as a face.

As a face he kind of comes off as a douche bag, like Cena.

He been Face a couple of times.

His best period of being a face was during the Invasion-2002 Era

His 2004 Face Run was laughable.

I only enjoy Edge as a heel.

They should've done the Cena/Edge double turn early last year.

Edge's "Rated R Superstar" gimmick could work as a face if they didn't make him all goody-goody like they did with Cena and Orton.

Edge as a tweener then? Im telling you it will work amazingly well

But they would make him a goody-goody. If you turn face, you have to be.

Isn't that Wrestling Law #302? I believe it is right next to "All wrestlers must be in your wrestling gear at all times, regardless if you actually have a match."

:y: In fact, it was so laughable, and the crowds were responsible for this, that they had to turn him heel. The crowds HATED Edge as a face and would openly boo him (even worse than Cena - at least the crowd is basically 50/50 for him). So they introduced the stroryline how Edge was getting pissed off because he wasn't getting any title shots etc and over a couple of weeks they turned him heel.

Face-Edge just doesn't work. But you get that with some wrestlers. They just cannot naturally play a face character. Most wrestlers will admit that given the choice they would rather play a heel character because it's easier and it's the best way to get the crowd involved and generate heat.

Orton is another one who I don't think should EVER be a face. Could be wrong, but I just think the heel character (for what it is) works better for him.

Austin was not a goody-goody nor was the Rock

Edge is not Austin or Rock.

Of course, there's that whole...What was it? Context thing. Edge's face character was boring, so it was kind of a moot point. Turned heel, he got lukewarm responses up until the whole Edge/Lita thing came out. Even after that, he often struggled for responses. People play him up as a masterful heel, which is nice and all, but it's nothing more than fantasy. His biggest responses came from beating Cena and fucking Lita.

He did, however, have some decent time both as a face and a heel prior when people were partnered with him and the like. It's like watching Charlie Haas pushed to the main event. He's not unworkable, but people have hyped him beyond the reality of the actual receptions he got.

The only difference between the Edge bit and the usual BS that Alienoid spouts is the number of people doing it. And you know what they say:

"When the legend becomes fact, print the legend."

Yeah that's the ironic thing.

As you correctly point out, Edge's heel character was only generating a lukewarm response (but better than the chill he got as a face) until the whole Lita thing was introduced.

That really pushed Edge up to the next level and at what cost? Where's Lita now? The sacrificial lamb to the slaughter.

It didn't really take him anywhere. His responses started to die once it was no longer rubbed in our faces, and it was clear before even his heel turn that Edge was going to be a main eventer, even if we didn't want it. He was being pushed while we were booing his face persona.

So...What changed?

Though it's given me a great idea for a movie. Adam Coepland in: The man who Speared Liberty Vallance.

Whoa, whoa, whoa...where did all this talk of Edge being a shitty face come from? 2002 was a great face year for Edge. His feud with Kurt Angle was pretty fucking great. I loved the segment where he was "looking over some old photos," and acted like he wanted to go back to being friends with Kurt. He showed Angle the photos, and as Kurt held them up, things like "I suck!" were written on the back.

He's also the man who started the "You suck!" chants during Angle's entrance. He also had some great matches as a face portion of the SmackDown! Six. The guy's contributions to the WWE as a face are vastly underrated, in my opinion.

Yeah, when he returned as "Rarr! I'm angry!" Edge, it was not as good. The guy has not been a face for some time, though. The WWE probably has plans for him through to WrestleMania, but after that, I would not be opposed to seeing Edge change brands, and maybe start helping out Jeff Hardy, who could be in a feud with Triple H, and choosing to help Jeff because he feels like he owes the Hardys something.

Or they could just have Edge call bullshit on SmackDown!'s biggest heel's claims that he's the bee's knees, and bam! You have yourself a face turn. The guy is getting pretty standard as a heel, in my opinion. He's a lot better than KK gives him credit for, but people act like he's top heel status. He's a notch below that.

Yeah, I get that. I worded myself wrong. I meant that people act like he is one of the greatest heels of all-time. He's good, but not that great.

Edge is indeed awesome, though.

On Smackdown recently (yeah I know, I actually watched one episode, im odd like that), Edge actually got some pretty decent heel heat. But is it him? Or is it the fact that he's making out with someone that a lot of people feel is in bad taste?

I dunno, Regal as GM seems to strike the perfect balance between babyface and heel as a tweener character. Haven’t seen many others pull it off as well as him, though...

I don't think Edge would make a very good face.

The ONLY way I could see Edge getting over as a face at this point, is if he did what Bret did in 97' (i.e. be anti-USA, pro-Canada). Edge could then be a huge face in Canada and a huge heel in the States.

I just don't see it happening though....nor should it. Edge is an excellent heel.

Kane Knight

Edge could have been a big face simply by beating Cena. Of course, that would require them to recognise that fans loved the fact that "Not Cena" was champion.

02/03 face Edge was great. I think he tagged with Mysterio for a while.

I'm not sure if he was ever face when he was with Christian like when they did all their goofy shit but either way he was great then.

But overall yeah he's a way better heel.

Edge was best with Christian. He really hasn't been nearly as good since. Meh, you know, I guess his time with Randy in Rated RKO wasn't bad, but I was mainly digging Randy and Edge was just kind of there.

Yeah, I'm the same. Randy Orton felt so...back seat to it all. Edge was the star of that angle, in my opinion. Since he's started kicking people in the head, Randy Orton is a lot more menacing, but still pretty bland, to me.

Oh, and when Christian's TNA contract expires, I want the WWE to throw a zillion dollars Christian's way, to get him to come back and re-unite with Edge as top heels on one of the brands. Fuck, bring over Tomko as their hired hitman, as he'd make a great straight man for them.

With The Hardys on the rise these days, I'm just trying to imagine a main event scene with Edge, Christian, Mattitude and Jeff Hardy.

Every time they bring someoone in from TNA, they never use them and let them go.

Besides, they don't want Christian back. They probably offer him a crappier deal than what he had and job him out before dumping him.
