Hold on, poll coming

Also, tell me why.

BTW, I'm strongly leaning towards X-Box. I've played the Wii, and it is ok.

360 is superior at this point.

360 all the way

PS3, better in the long run. 360 if you are in it for medium term.

LOL PS3 shouldn't even be a consideration.

No just smart buyers.

What part of RROD = smart buy?

360 has more games. That's it. For now anyways.

Xero
12-13-2007, 02:32 PM
360 gets the superior multi-platform games as well.

Really, at this point it almost doesn't matter which you get since there's only going to be two or three series/games worth playing which are console exclusive. Everything else is going to be multi-platform.

But again, at this point the 360 is getting the superior ports. So unless you REALLY need Final Fantasy or Metal Gear (both of which have a fair probability of being ported ANYWAY), or you REALLY need a Blu-Ray player, 360 is the way to go.

Yeah cause 100% of 360 owners have gotten the RROD.

And 360 has more games and better games.

After all, isn't that what gaming consoles are about? You know, good games?

No, just not retarded.

360: Better games, they've basically won this generation in terms of software already. The PS3 will get a few exclusives, but they've lost a lot of their staples and are losing more. Unless you have a hardon for expensive units, BDC, or really need a Blu Ray Player, you're probably better off with an XBox, RROD or not.

Kane Knight
12-13-2007, 02:57 PM
Yeah cause 100% of 360 owners have gotten the RROD.

To be fair, the RROD is a real problem.

But so was the PS2's DRE issue, and that didn't make it any less the best system of last generation. In short, Seph is a moron.

RROD?

12-13-2007, 04:05 PM
red rings of death. I know 3 people who own Xbox 360a and all have had the problem and have had to ship it to microsoft for 4 weeks to get it fixed. When my friend steve got his back it was still a lil screwey in that it wont read all 360 discs and sometimes you have have to eject/replace the disc over a dozen times to get it to work.

RROD?

Red Ring of Death. It is just like but Blue Screen of Death on computers. Something to do with over heating.

Newer units feature cooler chips, better heat sinks, and thermal paste that doesn't melt or fry or whatever with time. Some will probably still RROD, but for the most part, they shouldn't.

Get the 360, just make sure you try to find a new one with the 65nm Core processor, it runs cooler at load than the old one ran at idle, and thanks to that and slightly upgraded cooling, the RROD will be a thing of the past. Still, it's likely to happen to everyones older console eventually.

Also, I've owed all 3 consoles, and it's 360 all the way.

360 is your best bet. They have a lot of PS3's former exclusives, and of all their shared titles, the 360 version is usually better anyway. People keep saying PS3 will come up eventually, but developers really seem to fucking hate it, and (as evidenced by the aforementioned crappier versions of shared titles) it seems to be a bitch to develop for. Wii has some great first and 2nd party ish and some ok 3rd party ish. They also have the Virtual Console, but if your old systems are still in working order you might not need it so much. Of course, I suspect that in 3 or 4 years time, they'll have a ridiculous number of classic games available up from the just ok amount they have now.

Yeah, the PS3 is harder to develop for AND Sony's pissed off a lot of developers. The hardware and software sales for the 360 will be hard to touch, and most developers seem to be dragging their feet on the Wii (They're going to push the 360 in hopes that they don't have to change the way they develop for the next gen). Not to mention, Nitnendo fans tend not to buy a lot of software, and not a lot of third party software, making it less attractive to third parties anyway (Bad idea, but whatever).

For the count, new 360's dont get the red ring of death. well hardly ever anyway,
If I were you I'd buy an xbox purely because it has the best games and the best online community and onlien in general. The only problem with the 360 is that you can only have 4 controllers, so when I'm playing smackdown vs raw only 4 of us can play, unlike 6 of us like we used to do on the ps2.
I've got a wii for crimbo, can't wait to start playing it.
But xbox is the better of the 3, not by far though.

Ive seen the same games played on both systems in HD and the PS3 has the better graffics by far. This time next year the PS3 will be the better system. Its just like when the Xbox first came out the PS2 was way better, but as xbox came out with more games it was the dominant system.

You're joking. You honestly think the original X Box was better than the PS2? :wtf:

It had better graphics and online. That's where the superiority ended.

Well say what you want, I feel that if ps2 and xbox had come out at the same time, the ps2 would not have been able to compete. Between the online, graffix and the lack of a need for memory cards.

Yeah graphics are better, does graphics make a great game? look at final fantasy 7... you played as a block.
Also IMO the tv you play on makes the betetr graphics. My friend has a non HD PS3 and I have a HD 360, my graphics slay his, he still goes on about how his are better though...

PS3 has the greater potential. But all the power in the world doesn't mean shit if it's a bitch to make games for it. It all boils down to the bottom line for developers, and they're not going to support what isn't cost effective.

It's not like I don't want the PS3 to succeed. Sony's just done all they can to shoot themselves in the foot.

Sony has made it easier for developers to make games by cutting the kit price in half.

And if that were the only factor in ease of use or dev cost, that would probably make all the difference in the world.

lol not what I meant. I mean the actual programming of the games is much harder on the PS3 than it is on the 360. That is why the same game on both systems usually comes out better on the 360.

Including quite often graphically. That's not to say that the PS3 can't do better graphics. They just made it harder and less worth the while.

Having a Crippled last gen PC GPU isn't exactly helping the PS3's Cause. We know the Cell is Grunty, but Processor isn't everything.

Kane Knight
12-13-2007, 11:28 PM
In terms of what sells systems, a year later, the PS2 is still outselling the PS3. So the system that was the inferior technologically last gen, is still outselling the most advanced of this generation.

The FFVII remake was debunked rather thoroughly, though. What's this about two FF games? Same deal, or a spinoff, or?

Still, most work fine, but their hardware failure is still too high for me to even consider getting one. It's sad that I'm actually kind of considering going for a PS3........ If it can ever get some games. Does any game uses the six axis?

360.

The Wii is more fun for multiplayer party games, but on the whole, 360 is the best of this generation. I was all set to buy a PS3, but I was looking over the racks of games at Best Buy and saw that 360 had about double the number of games I wanted to play, plus it was about $200 cheaper.

A couple of games do. Anyway, Hardware failure's no longer as high, and if you get a Falcon model, odds are you'll never RROD.

I didn't bother talking about Wii because BDC's pretty much made it clear that Wii ain't for him in that other thread. I mean, I'm not saying "BDC sucks; he doesn't like what I like," But it seems pointless to try and sell him on something that he won't like.

Wii's fun, and Galaxy alone is almost worth admission, but he's gonna enjoy standard console gaming more. And TBH, failure and all, 360's still where it's at. I don't really have an agenda; I go where the games are. And Microsoft has the games. Which is good for gaming, I think, because the PS3 is a bad model for gaming, like other high end systems before it, but I would have bought a PS3 had they made it worth my 600 bucks. I've got almost as many 360 games as I had PS2 games, and that's within a year of launch.

Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy vs. XIII or something, and then like Final Fantasy Agito XIII which is only for cell phones. I don't even know the difference or if they are all "mainstream" games or what.
