Queens of the Stone Age (QotSA or simply Queens) are a rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_music) band from Palm Desert (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palm_Desert%2C_California), California (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California), United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States), formed in 1997.
Originally formed under the name Gamma Ray by guitarist Josh Homme (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Homme), Queens of the Stone Age developed a style of riff (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riff)-oriented, heavy music which Homme described as 'robot rock', saying that he "wanted to create a heavy sound based on a solid jam, and just pound it into your head". The band is frequently described as stoner rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoner_rock), although they reject the term.

I echo Petey Frampton's sentiments.

Kyuss were horrible.

8 though. Songs for the Deaf is easily the best album.

I like a few songs but have trouble getting into them, and his voice does nothing for me.
