View Full Version : Are we seriously on the verge of a Jeff Hardy title reign?

A few years back i woulda been like hell yah. Like when he was challenging Taker for the title. Now as it gets closer and closer to happening, i dont know what to think. I think its happening at Rumble. I really dont see any other reason to putt Hardy in this spot unless there giving him a short run. He doesnt need a rub from Orton, he's the most over person in wrestling. And for a guy of his caliber, they usually dont give shots like this at one of the big shows, only to lose. Wouldnt that be something more used for like Armageddon. I mean, HBK vs Orton or HHH vs Orton or Jericho vs Orton again would draw so much more unless....Jeff Hardy is being booked to win the title.

For some reason I can see HHH and Hardy continuing to team with one another leading up to the Royal Rumble. Hardy wins the WWE Championship from Orton and Triple H wins the Royal Rumble match and challenges Hardy for the belt at WrestleMania 24. Maybe have Triple H try to cost Hardy the title match at the Rumble by busting him open badly in his match with Orton (having HHH turn heel here) but still have Hardy come back for the BIG win.

I personally like it. If Hardy wins, keep it short. But it is a nice nod and show reminds people that if you stick it out long enough, any one could be a champion.

they always do these wierd Title matches at Rumble. Hardy is not taking home the belt

I respect Jeff's in ring abilities with some exceptions. I don't see him winning the wwe title and having glorious reigns as Austin, Dwayne Johnson, Cena or Edge.

I dunno. They've come this far already. Do your really think they'd ever get this far again with Hardy? I think its going to happen.

Yeah, I seriously doubt he will win. But it is a nice nod.

I think it makes sense. Pretty sure the company isn't going to build itself around Jeff Hardy going into Wrestlemania and that's not a knock against Jeff's ability or 'overness' but more his reliability. Rumble allows them to test the waters for a potential Hardy title reign, even though he probably won't win the match. Plus, they have about 5-6 weeks to build this title match, so (hopefully) they can make Hardy look like championship contender material by then.

Also, HHH in the Rumble adds probably the biggest name on Raw to that match, which is the big draw for that PPV.

I would care a lot more if wrestling didn't suck right now.

You could put the title on Webster, and it would have no effect.

Chavo/Eddie from a couple years back is prob one of my fav title matches ever

I can see Hardy as an underdog champ for six months.

They need to put HHH in the rumble match so he can win it, so who else is going to face orton? Hardy is a stop gap until WM

Loose Cannon

exactly. it sucks, but unfortunately, I see that happening. Or Batista has a shot. Possibly Taker.

You just used logic to predict WWE booking. Better luck next time, I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

But seriously, I hope Jeff is up for a short (or even a long) reign.

I'd be less pissed about Jeff with the belt than I am about Orton.

I'd quite like the belt on Jeff, and have him face HHH at Mania. It'd work with what they're doing now. It would end in HHH winning most likely, but would be a good match I think.

But sadly I dont see Jeff winning. When was the last time a big title changed at the Rumble anyway?

I would just like to point out Hardcore Holly has challenged for the WWE Title at Royal Rumble. Just because Hardy's getting the shot, doesn't mean he's going to win it...AND there's always the time in between the Rumble at Mania for him to drop it; it's happened to Mick/Rock as well as Angle/Rock.

I'd personally like to see a Jeff Hardy run, and truthfully I wouldn't mind seeing the WWE and World Champs leading into Mania be Jeff and Edge. It would be kind of a nice testament to the backbone of the Attitude Era finally earning their true spot on top. I mean this is 99% chance not going to happen, but it could and honestly it would be the way I would like to see it done.

HOLY SHIT! Kennedy v. Jeff for the title would be fucking crazy

but not untill next year. Kennedy should win then. But this year he should still face Triple H. Y2J should face .... Hardy! lol

Wouldn't it be ironic if they put the belt on Jeff Hardy, though?

they've spent all this time pushing against this image of drugs in wrestling, and they'd be putting their flagship show's title around the waist of one of the guys best known for his vices?

I mean, the only thing better that they could do is to actually put it around the waist of RVD, and that's because he was arrested for drugs as the fucking champ in the past.

If Jeff was champ, I would buy that PPV JUST for the chance he'd do that.

You could always play it off in the opposite direction... put a fat spin on it, and go on about how Jeff got over his vices, conquered drugs, got clean, etc., because he was so passionate about the industry and wanted the belt so bad. Emphasize how badly he wanted to "overcome his personal demons," since they wouldn't let him near the belt until he was sober.

Also, they've had the belt on Cena, Lashley, and Batista prior--all guys that look like the cover of Juice Head Monthly.

But they haven't been caught in the real world or under the wellness policy. Sure, it's obvious to anyone with a brain they're juiced, that's just common sense. But common sense and obviousness isn't tangible evidence. The most likely scenario is they're protected by WWE, or at best they look the other way.

True. Just saying, as far as the "...But we're on drug watch" factor goes, Jeff's not really any more humorous than what we've had.

That doesn't make it any less delicious, especially when you look at how they've crammed Punk everywhere they could to prove that not all their wrestlers were on drugs.

Besides, Jeff would not be received as such.

Also, they've had the belt on Cena, Lashley, and Batista prior--all guys that look like the cover of Juice Head Monthly.

What? What are you talking about? There's no evidence Cena has ever done steroids!

And while I'm at it...

Oh absolutely. I mean, people who don't read dirtsheets don't know he's been a druggy. Unless of course they can judge him by his hair and clothes, in which case they might figure it out.

they should do a shoot angle where they find drugs in his locker, but someone put them there he says. Start a feud with a heel then it's revealed he didn't put the drugs there the night after Jeff beats him, somewhat shadily for the title. And then double turn.

Jeff Kennedy for example

Jeritron

CM Punk really should put drugs in someones locker to get them suspended in kayfabe, and then when it's revealed to be him make it his heel turn.

Then him and Jeff Hardy can have a syringe on a pole match

Isn't that exactly the same thing you came up with for someone else a couple days ago?

In my dream world, I'd have Jeff win at the Rumble, HBK win the Rumble....HBK eventually turning heel and setting up a WM match. Have that all in my fantasy booking of the PPV.

And for AFTER Mania...lets say Raw's face side is still fairly overcrowded. I'd have Jeff defeat a heel to retain the belt after a hellacious match either on PPV or Raw...the crowd gives him a standing O. John Cena makes his surprise return and gets into the ring to applaud Cena, then BAM: F-U...and Cena turns.

Face Jeff vs. Heel Cena would be awesome. You can have Cena bitch about how Jeff stole the spotlight AND his demographic (ie: girls and little kids) while he was gone.
