Amy Jade Winehouse (14 September (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_14) 1983 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983)) is an English (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/England) singer-songwriter, primarily in the genres of jazz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazz_music) and soul (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_music).
Winehouse's debut album, Frank (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_%28Amy_Winehouse_album%29) (released in 2003) was nominated for the Mercury Prize (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_Prize). Her 2006 album Back to Black (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_to_Black) led to six Grammy Award (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Award) nominations including the "Big Four (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy#The_Big_Four_.28General_Field.29)": Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year. On 14 February (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/February_14) 2007 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007), she won a BRIT Award (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRIT_Awards) for Best British Female Artist; she had also been nominated for Best British Album. She has won the Ivor Novello Award (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivor_Novello_Awards) twice, among other prestigous distinctions.
Winehouse has created media buzz apart from her singing. Her unique style, most notably her signature beehive hairstyle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beehive_%28hairstyle%29), has spawned imitators and been the muse for fashion designers, most notably Karl Lagerfeld (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Lagerfeld). The singer's (and her husband's) struggles with self-harm, as well as drug and alcohol addictions became regular tabloid news in 2007. They have also been plagued by legal troubles that have led to the cancellation of several tour dates.

massively overrated crap.

I wish she'd just die so the papers wouldn't be full of her and her fucked up husband.

Like some of her shit, but I def agree on being overrated. Also, not a fan of her cracked out pro-ana Elvira make over. She used to be pretty good looking.

Amy Winehouse is complete and utter shit. I can't see why she sells, even from a production standpoint. Far as I can reckon, it has to be because her lackluster R&B is blatantly sexual or something. She's ass.
