What the fuck is it with the new SNL cast and never being able to keep a straight face when doing scenes? It's like in the past 5 or so years, there's always a scene where a few of the players just can't keep a straight face. Yeah, it's funny, but it kinda breaks the 4th wall for me. And it's usually Horatio Sanz, and those other guys whose names I can't be bothered to remember.

...New? God, I haven't watched the show in like 7 years, and what you describe is not particularly different from then....

And of all the shows to complain about "breaking the fourth wall" on, why SNL?

The current cast is fucking great.. SNL had fallen off hardcore after people like Will Farrell etc left, but now with people like Kennan and Andy Sandberg, it's funnier than ever..

SNL usually sucks except for the Digital Shorts. IMO the not keeping a straight face thing is funny.

Also, it was Jimmy Fallon that started looking and the camera and giggling like a 5 year old girl in every scene. BTW, I haven't watched but one new episode of SNL years. And it wasn't funny at all. Then again, it stopped being funny when the best they could do was Will Ferrel. I've never really liked him, he is funny sometimes.

Horatio Sanz has been gone for like 2 years first of all. And the current cast of SNL is tremendous.

If anything, the only thing I don't like about the new cast is the News segment, Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon were just so much better.

I could do without Seth Meyers. His brother was on MadTV then on That 70's Show and he was horribly un-funny on that.

What does his brother's career have to do with his preformance on SNL??

Nothing. I just added that in there.

This always bothered me, too. You're professional comedians on a national television show. Keep it together, already!

Show hasn't been great since Farley, Spade, Sandler, and the rest of that team were on.

When I watch Keenan Thompson I feel like I'm watching All That. And that show wasn't funny either.

Yeah, I noticed Darrell Hammond is still there after like 8 years. Not even lying, he'll never leave. He's gone from playing Clinton to Cheney. I mean come on, that's a huge time span.

Bill Hader is hilarious.

The cast is finally good after being iffy. The digital shorts aren't the only thing that are funny. But they are hilarious.

Damn straight, and for a guy who's training to go into that exact field, I can't tell you how frustrating it is to see these guys make a gag out of failing to do their job. Half the time, it feels more like I'm watching a bunch of people make inside-jokes that I'm not in on (somewhere, Del Close is spinning in his grave).

That's why I always liked guys like Chris Parnell and Phil Hartman. Sure, they never really had many break-out skits or catchphrases, but they never broke character.

Except for when Phil Hartman got the giggles during the one Frankenstein/Tonto/Tarzan sketch (FIRE BAAAAAAAAAAAD!!!). But I totally agree with you. Hartman and Parnell were consummate professionals.
