Alien.
I think they need to make another alien movie thats more like the first one. The sequel is great as far as action/horror movies go, but as a straight up horror movie goes, it's not even in the same league as the first.
My fav horror movie of all time.

I gotta say, I liked Alien a lot better than Aliens. For one, the dialogue was a lot more naturalistic and less action-movie-quotey. Second, the Alien itself was a hell of a lot scarier because you didn't know anything about it or what it could do. The ones in the sequel were just over-sized bugs.
Anyway, apart from Alien (which is my favorite), Spielberg made two unbelievably good extra-terrestrial movies (Close Encounters and E.T.). The build-up in Signs is amazing, but the ending is stupid. And the different remakes of War of the Worlds (the Spielberg one and Independence Day) are pretty fun, depending on what mood you're in.

Yeah, they completely lost the atmosphere the first one had in the follow ups.
I have never been more tense watching a movie, than when ripleys running through the ship during the final countdown.

Oh Yeah cocoon.
That was when big Brian D had his alien buddies in cocoons in the old folks swimming pool. The old bastards started swimming in the pool and stealing the life force of the aliens and making themselves feel young again.
It had steve guttenberg in it.....result.

The Last Starfighter is a fun one. I mean, the CG animation is dated, but it's got some pretty great lines in it. And Robert Preston's definitely an alien.

Totally agree with Fignuts as far as the Alien sequels go, totally lost the atmosphere, especially in Aliens where there were so many of them, in the original you barely saw the thing until right at the end and that was what made it so suspensful, the unknown etc.

I love that film :) , been so long since I've seen it
I really liked Signs (regardless of the daft ending) as it gave a much smaller perspective to 'alien invasion' films compared to films such as Independence Day, War Of The Worlds, etc.
