"Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" is happening, and the above pics isn't my fan-casting either: Kristin Kreuk (the unofficial Mrs. Kalyx) has signed on to portray the greatest female fighting game icon in history (sorry Sonya). Expect more news throughout the year as its expected to drop sometime 2008/2009. Van Damme is not involved in this. Somehow, that news is awesome and terrible at the same time.

Chun Li, along with Ryu, Ken and Guile, is a common focal point and protagonist in all things Street Fighter. I'd like to see a Guile-oriented deal myself, but whatever. I mean, I love Ryu and Ken, but they're been done and done and done.

The concept of a film focusing on the Chun-Li character as a protagonist is an idea I would rate as being pointless, lame and highly stupid. For one, Chun-Li is by far the least character I would consider being made into a legend.

If I were to pitch an idea straight away, it would be to bring one of the anime films to live action. Ken & Ryu & Akuma story, hell, even one about Blanka and Guile would be better.

This film is obviously going to try and compete with such spin-offs as Wolverine and Magneto - an attempt I cannot see even coming close to being competition. Apart from the points I have already made, Kristen Kruek is nowhere near any kind of status where she can carry a whole film as the lead role, let alone bring the film's attention to a new audience. Of course there will be the die-hard smallville fans, and the horny teenage boy TA, but come on, since when was that enough - Aeon Flux, DOA - it is futile.

Of course, like I said, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure, a few months after this film is released, you will see this topic bumped up with a post from me with the words 'I TOLD YOU SO' in the centre of the page.

I understand were not going to be getting a Citizen Kane here, and to think I would think that is very silly, but that doesn't excuse the asshole who gave the fucking green light on this piece of shit. Sorry I tried, we shall see.

We can't speak for his acting ability, but Taboo is a good fit for the part in many ways. Ain't no way a Street Fighter movie can be faithful to the game while being a great movie, we can only hope for good. I think people need to educate themselves on the whole adaption process because the ones who cry loudest, even though huge fans of the material, don't really know what they're asking for.

So we thought, we should do something that's just like the game, that would be hilarious. So what we actually did, and I don't know where this footage is. We bought gloves for Michael [Duncan, who plays Balrog], who is the loveliest man. We thought it would be really funny if Chun-Li and Balrog had a fight on the street in the style of Street Fighter, where you fight on a straight line. And we did it! We filmed the whole thing. I wore an Asian mandarin collar, I put my hair in the buns, we went out to the pool and we shot it with the temple in the backdrop by the hotel. And he's in short shorts and the whole kit and caboodle. I do the side kick and I say "spinning bird kick" and we did the whole thing. It's somewhere, I don't know where it is. What we wanted to do is put in all of the power bars and all of the video FX, it was all planned.

this movie looks terrible, and I usually give any movie a chance.

now if they made a Street Fighter movie with the Sin City/300/Watchmen kind of treatment, than that would be cool.

Honestly, they just need to make a new anime, with quality animators, and let UDON write it, cause the comic is fucking awesome. Although, since they couldn't even get decent animators for the SF IV, that might be wishful thinking.
