View Full Version : Guys with great chemistry

This is just something that popped into my head in the Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga thread. Some guys just work well together, and the results are much better than you'd expect them to be.
Paul London and Jimmy Wang Yang, for example. Back when Yang was Akio, he and London had one of the best series of matches I can remember in recent history. This isn't me intending to blow London & Yang, because as a fan of both guys, I have to admit that I don't think their matches should logically have been as good as they were.
Anyway, what examples of great chemistry can you think of?

HBK and Kurt Angle
They could have a 5 star arm wrestling match.

To be fair, HBK can do great with anyone.
But back on track E&C and the Hardys have great chemistry together in almost any combo.
Funk and Foley is another great choice
Dreamer and Raven
Melina and Mickie James are always fun to watch
And lastly CM Punk and Nitro's abs, great chemistry.
While I never saw it, Lance Storm and Chris Candito had too good of chemistry the way Storm tells it.
Matt Striker was also good at chemsistry.

I agree with you about HBK. I kind of expected his matches with Angle to be classic. I've been really surprised by how well he's clicked with Orton, though. I mean, Orton is usually boring in the ring, but he seems more...alive while he's in there with HBK.
Also worth mentioning is HBK and Shelton Benjamin. They've only had one match, but I want to see a second one. HBK and Shelton are both great, but the match was greater than I'd have expected. Part of that may have been because it was a surprise.
Melina and Mickie James mesh really well together. If you believe reports, they don't like each other, but it either helps or doesn't get in the way of their matches. Split wars = me caring about the division.
I'm a little disappointed that the WWE have stopped putting Punk and Morrison at each other's throats constantly. Their matches have been great. Especially the won where Punk won the ECW Title.

No, it is good they got broken up. It gets old. But in a year or so CM Punk should be at the US or IC title level and out comes Nitro.

Eddie and Rey, GOOD CALL
Benoit and Booker T comes to mind.
Flair/Steamboat was a good call Innvator. They tore the house down every night.
Angle clicked with just about everyone he ever faced.
Here is one I forgot....RVD and Jerry Lynn
Justin Credible and Lance Storm had some of the best chemistry as a tag team I've ever seen, and haven't really seen since.
DDP and Macho Man Randy Savage in late 90's WCW had incredible chemistry together. All of their matches were top notch.
Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit had great chemistry as a tag team as well.
Jericho and Benoit had great chemistry against each other.

There's been many for me
Rock / Austin
E&C / Hardy's / Dudley;s (when they were involved)
Steiner / Steroids
... the list could go on I think too
But I think some people can just give good chemistry to almost anyone.
Flair
HHH
Undertaker
Jericho
Benoit
They all had fueds that invloved damn good matches as far as I remember probably 80%+ of the time.
A lot of the cruiserweights can do well too. For matches alone they can carry off pretty sound matches many times over.
Also, what little I've seen of McGuiness... I like a lot!

I'm actually fairly certain the two had some good showings in ROH, too, when both guys found themselves out of the WWE for that period. I was going to mention them myself. Good call. :y:
Honestly, while I'd hate to break up Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore, I'd love to see Yang team with Jamie Noble against Paul London & Brian Kendrick. The match just sounds like smark darling cruiserweight spunk on paper, but I honestly think they'd produce some classic tag team matches. Jimmy Wang Yang & Jamie Noble would hopefully have chemistry as a team from their WCW days as two-thirds of the Yung Dragons. They are both quite entertaining at the moment gimmick-wise, too. Paul London & Brian Kendrick have arguably the best team chemistry of anyone in the WWE now. Then there is the individual chemistry Paul London has with Jimmy Yang, and the chemistry Brian Kendrick has with Jamie Noble.
The only problem is you'd need to do something with Shannon Moore, and Jamie Noble has a fair bit of singles momentum at the moment. In theory, though, Yang & Noble vs. London & Kendrick in a tag team series would be hot shit. Maybe throw in the occasional appearance by John Morrison & The Miz, and a pissed off Shannon Moore & Gregory Helms. Maybe add The Edge Heads and a future team I see coming in Rey Mysterio & Chavo Guerrero. Then you have a division, sar.

I'd like to add Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio to the list. The same goes for Kurt Angle and Edge. I'm not going to say Kurt Angle and anyone, because while he could carry a bottle of milk to a good match (tag team split of the century...the psychology with Angle not being able to apply the Ankle Lock effectively would be brilliant), there are some guys that he worked with that he just got better results out of them than he should have. Edge and Rey Mysterio are two examples.
Edge was seriously entertaining when he was feuding with Kurt Angle. Not only in the promo department, but they were some of Edge's best matches ever. Edge has always been able to be carried to a good match, but with Angle he seemed a little more productive than he ever has.
Rey Mysterio and Angle just had some fast-paced matches that got the adrenaline pumping. I remember a lot of people were a bit apprehensive about the idea of Angle/Mysterio at first, because of the clash of styles, but they just meshed brilliantly. Mysterio would springboard off with something, and Angle would roll through and get the Ankle Lock, and then Mysterio would do a wacky roll through counter. Fun stuff. I don't really like Mysterio too much, but I'd get excited whenever he was facing Angle.
