What does everybody think of Charlie Haas' new masked gimmick? Personally, I like it. It's not going to make him credible, exactly, but it's at least something entertaining.

It'll get him on tv, and give him a chance to show he has personality. Hopefully he makes the best of it, and becomes a regular mid carder down the road.
I have no idea why but when he put on the mask he reminded me of The Patriot.
But the crowd reaction was completely dead, mainly because they were confused as fuck. They probably won't do it again because it fell flat on it's face.

To be fair to the gimmick, though, it was a shitty time to introduce it. The match's focus was on Shawn Michaels and Mr. Kennedy being partners. For all intents and purposes, it was a "serious match."
It didn't exactly set the crowd on fire during Heat, but the spot where Haas jumps off the top rope, lands on his feet, and then hits a standing splash got a good laugh.
It's just stupid enough that Vince will love it, and I think the writing team knows that it's confusing enough that it will take a few weeks before people catch on.
Come on, Haas' mannerisms as a luchadore are great. I didn't see RAW, but did Haas do the slingshot back into the ring with the roll after it? That is great.
WTF, how can you say you didn't see RAW but say that he got a 'good laugh' from that spot? (He didn't.)

I'm assuming he's seen it on "Heat"... Which I was unaware was even on.
Oh.
It's international still...

I meant Heat, where Haas actually got time to play into the character.

So what is the character, I just didnt get it.
It might have gotten over had they, you know, explained it. It just came out of nowhere and everyone was like, WTF.
The Top Rope Elbow drop was fucking hilarious though.

Yeah, I was a bit confused at first. Then happy. Then bored when the posing went on too long.

Well it got zero reaction from the crowd, but hopefully they can try it for a couple of months. Make him normal, boring, Haas without the mask on, but once he gets it on he do all these sweet moves that will get no reaction.

i think it got ignored because they had no idea what was going on.
This gimmick is the type of thing WWE fans eat up.

That's exactly it, I think. On Heat, the fans weren't exactly in the palm of Charlie Haas' hand, but they reacted a little better, because the promo before the match foreshadowed it a bit. Haas talked about how he's not entertainment, he's All-American, and then he pops out with a luchadore mask obviously trying to be entertaining. Greatness.
The fans will eat it up, the WWE just need to explain it a bit better, and cut the shackles off Haas a bit, and let him wrestle as Haas, and "fly" as his luchadore counterpart.
I think the WWE is proud of the gimmick, too, because it went from Heat to being in a match with Shawn Michaels in one week.
