Well, I'm bored as fuck and I just got an idea posting in another thread so I figured I'd share with you my fantasy booking for the road to Mania

All these story lines have a continuity, and many affect eachother and have cause effects. Pretty realistic booking if I may say so myself.
Some storylines and cool crossover parts are missing, I'll revisit this thread with more additions later.

WWE title
HHH lost his #1 contender match, and thanks to Regal failed to qualify for the Royal Rumble. This leaves him shit out of luck for his title hopes. He is absolutely irate that he has failed to reach either the rumble match, or the title main event due to two bad losses. Vince and Regal offer him an ultimatum. At Royal Rumble, he faces William Regal in a no DQ match. If he wins, he gets a title shot on Raw. If he loses, he is fired from Raw. (Teddy Long even approaches him during the Rumble ppv in a segment offering him a contract).
HHH has obstacles thrown at him at the hands of McMahon and Regal, but the goodguy HHH prevails and wins the match.

Later that night, Orton and Hardy square off for the title. Hardy fights his heart out despite the sneaky champions attempts to escape. He reverses the RKO to a twist of fate and the crowd goes wild as he climbs the turnbuckle. He hits the swanton bomb and rises to his feet then BOOM. Out of nowhere (from the crowd) HHH levels Hardy with a spinebuster. The referee calls for the bell and Hardy is screwed.
But it doesn't end there. The exhausted Hardy is beaten and torn apart by an irate HHH. He tells him this is what happens when you challenge his throne (what he doesn't tell you, but is a motivation is that he didn't want to face Hardy again. He knows he can beat Orton, but has never beaten Hardy), and has Hardy taken out on a stretcher.

The next night on Raw, HHH defeats Orton for the WWE title. Jeff is nowhere to be seen as he has been hospitalized.
Hardy returns the next week in a major way and attacks HHH as the show goes off the air.
At No Way Out, Hardy wins the elimination chamber and to no suprise announces that he will be using his challenge to face none other than HHH at Wrestlemania 24 for the WWE title.
He goes over.

Side effect
On the other side of the coin, Orton has dropped the title. He is disgruntled that his era was cut short, and that he has been denied his time to shine on the cusp of Wrestlemania. He feels this was his year, and he was screwed by having to defend the title twice in 24 hours thanks to McMahon failing to get the job done with HHH. McMahon says he lost the title to HHH once before and he helped him out, and sees no reason why he should have to do it again. Orton needs to prove to him that he is a champion before he will ever again be near it.

Orton goes on a streak of mayhem and is out of control. But it doesn't stop on Raw. He brings his headkicking ways to ECW and Smackdown and eventually he rubs someone the wrong way. He costs former Evolution teamate Batista his 1001st shot at the World Title and Bats isn't gonna stand for it. Orton doesn't understand why Batista gets all these rematches, and he needs to prove his. Orton wants to prove hes the superior of the two, and Bats want to squash this punk. Orton is banned from Smackdown but he targets him in public. Batista finally shows up to Raw despite Teddy Long's wishes and issues his challenge for Wrestlemania. Orton vs Batista in an interpromotional grudge match.

World Title

If you're wondering why Batista was getting another shot at Edges gold, it's because he was eliminated controversially in the rumble by MVP(who had already been eliminated unbenownst to referees). He was also assaulted by the Edgeheads during the match.

Taker goes on to win the rumble again, sharing the final four with MVP, Jericho and HBK. He challenges Edge, streak vs streak, mindgames, Edge runs his mouth...won't waste anymore time.

Edge goes over Taker. Obviously not cleanly, but he goes over nonetheless. Something really clever and sneaky, something that'd make Eddie Guerrero proud. Really awesome. I'll come up with an idea.

So there you have it...
Hardy goes over HHH for the WWE title
Edge goes over Taker for the World title
a title changes/a title is retained
a heel wins/a face wins
2 young guys from the same background (no mercy 99) are put over veterans huge

Theres your overall story there. in addition to the individual fueds and stories.

Randy Orton and Batista finally have a match in a well built fued.

I'll work on part 2 (including MVP-Matt Hardy build..and plans for Jericho, HBK, Kennedy, Flair and others) later on.

That's some pretty good stuff, nothing ground breaking but pretty solid.

However I regret to inform you that the real Wrestlemania main event will probably be something more like Batista vs Big Daddy V and HHH vs Lashley, with Orton wrestling against a pack of wild Kangaroos with Vince McMahon's left ear on the line.

Meanwhile the Cruiserweight title match will be .......nah, no chance of me keeping a straight face while I say that.

Wait, is the Cruiserweight title back?

Or is that part of the joke?

That's good stuff, and I wouldn't mind seeing it.

I really don't get this Taker vs. Edge WM Streak shit though...when Edge clearly lost last year in the MITB match :(

MVP - Matt Hardy

After coming off a big Royal Rumble (in the final 4 and eliminating Batista) MVP is on top of the world as US champion.
For fueding purposes, he and Edge team to face former tag champs reunited Batista and Mysterio on the post-rumble smackdown.
Thanks to their ways, they win.

The next week or the week after that (depending on when the dates fall) MVP has an official scheduled celebration/crowning ceremony on Smackdown that is done appropriately during superbowl week.
At this ceremony, MVP speaks of his greatness over the past year, and how he is the greatest US champion ever. He speaks of how he is a one man dynasty, and much like the Patriots knows what it is to be an undefeated champion. But much like/or unlike Tom Brady, he is a true MVP and a real undefeated champ.
So, to commemorate his dynasty as US champion, he deserves a ring. At this time, he opens a case and shows off a WWE US champion superbowl style ring. (This will all be more appropo if the Pats win, but either way it works since it fits MVP and we know WWE likes to make their programming play to current events)

As MVP is acting really cocky kissing the ring about to put it on. OHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHH.

Matt Hardy comes out to a huge ovation and interrupts MVPs ceremony. Rains on his parade. Beats the hell out of him.

The next week the upset MVP costs Matt Hardy his return matchup, and Matt Hardy decides this is enough. It's time that what should have happened a long time ago happens. He wants a match, he wants MVP and he wants his US title. And he wants all of it at Wrestlemania. MVP starts running his mouth an accepts.

Over the next few weeks, they return to their usual fueding with a little more intensity
They even have the pre-Wrestlemania SvR08 simulation game on night on Smackdown, that turns into a brawl when MVP unplugs Matt's controller right when hes about to lose.
On the Smackdown entrance stage, they have an official mock press conference and weigh in, complete with smack talking and a big scuffle, perhaps even right off the stage.

At Wrestlemania, after an awesome promotional package, these 2 finally get it on in a great match and Hardy walks out US champion.

Up next...Ric Flair's last Mania match
