According to both PWInsider and Wrestling Observer, The Big Show has agreed to a new deal. He is said to be down to around 440lbs due to the training he did in his failed boxing attempt.

Thoughts?

lol down to 440. Meh. I think he sucks, but whatever.

KingofOldSchool

Actually that's pretty good for him, if he loses a little bit more he can get to his early WCW weight and that would be bad ass.

I noticed that they mentioned something earlier about hiring a former World Champion, and now there is something up on Ron Killings. I remember Ron Killings was an NWA Champion...maybe they're just refering to him.

Mr. Nerfect
01-11-2008, 06:01 PM
When I heard the WWE had signed a former multi-time World Champion to a contract, and then saw the report that Ron Killings had been signed, I thought it was him. My second guess was Sid Vicious. Rob Van Dam and Big Show (probably in that order) would have been my next guesses.

Big Show's offer would have been for a lot of money, so good for him. He's also quite entertaining, and he's actually a proven draw (not a massive one, but to a degree). A good deal for both the WWE and Big Show, I'd say.

And yes, he will be on RAW. Hopefully as a babyface. I prefer babyface badass Big Show. Fuck, with WrestleMania not taking shape yet, I'd actually rather see him win the Royal Rumble than either The Underaker or Triple H, and then kill Randy Orton to become WWE Champion. But of course, that's just because the scenarios of The Undertaker and Triple H winning are horrible.

If he's coming back he should go to Smackdown. Since they have garbage like Khali and Mark Henry there, they might as well have Big Show take their role. They should feed Big Show Mark Henry just like that, and then release him. Then they should push Big Show as a heel, since Edge and MVP are the only heels they have.

I'm not a big fan of the Big Show, but if he's gotta be used he'd be better off on Smackdown which has like 4 main eventers to its name, rather than on Raw which has like 10.

Big show isn't just another khali or mark henry. The guy really knows how to tell a story in the ring. I used to think it was other guys carrying him, but great match after great match after great match convinced me that the guy really knows how to use his size and offense in a way that really makes sense and helps the match.

His ECW title run was one of my favorite title reigns of the last 5 years.

He was really great in ECW. He picked up his game fantastically. And I think Big Show would be better fitted to a show like SmackDown! than RAW, but seeing as he would be new back, I would place a bet on RAW.

Meh.

Big Show for the most part is just a big jobber barring his early days and ECW run. For the most part, he's been used as a jobber and has rarely been a real threat for the world title, other than ECW. I like the guy, but I don't really see him making any difference in the WWE whatsoever. A few weeks after he returns, it will all be the same and no one will care for Show...if he's on Raw/Smackdown, he'll be stuck in a boring feud probably playing his cliche "big monster that jobs on the PPV" role that guys like Kane and Mark Henry have been filling in...

Meh I says, unless WWE turns around and use him like they did in ECW or do something radically interesting with him...which I doubt.

I don't blame you for believing that. Because the first thing they would do is have him feud with something huge. Which is unfortunate, because Show can put on a decent match, but he's not good enough to milk a good one out of the Border Collie.

Mr. Nerfect
01-12-2008, 09:59 PM
I'm serious, I would mark out for Big Show giving a Chokeslam to Hornswoggle in the Royal Rumble, and then tossing him as far out of the ring as he can, even if it kills the little guy. Jeff Hardy or Rey Mysterio vs. Big Show at WrestleMania for either the WWE or World Heavyweight Championship would entertain me a lot more than any of the rumoured matches I have heard about.

Big Show should set his sights for the World Heavyweight Championship, though. If he wins that belt, then he'd not only be the only man to ever be WWE, WCW and ECW Champion, but he'd complete the run with the World Heavyweight Championship.

In a completely kayfabe sense, the WWE could make the case for Big Show being the greatest World Champion of all-time. Not only is he the only guy to be WWE Champion, WCW Champion and ECW Champion (and maybe one day World Heavyweight Champion), but he is the only guy (to my knowledge) to ever win a World Championship in his in-ring debut, and the only man to defeat Hulk Hogan in his in-ring debut. They could really hammer these points home and make Big Show into a (relative) draw for the company.

Funnily enough I was thinking it would be quite cool if big show had come out to help Horny this week when Mick Foley came down instead. Whilst he could never do the things he did before, Mick Foley will forever be greatess, and like Ric Flair may never retire.

Funnily enough I just read a news tidbit that this will probably be Mick Foley's last year before full retirement. Quite a shame, although he probably needs to do it for his health. I at least hope for some kind of General Manager role.

Why Mick Foley is not the General Manager of ECW baffles me.

My bet is they do something to keep him busy until after Mania, and then fued him with one of the champions.

I also don't think it'd be a bad idea to put him right back in ECW

Because that'd require him to travel with Smackdown/ECW on a full schedule, or at the very very least a semi-full schedule. His contract calls for 4 matches a year and a flexible number of live appearances on tv to promote said dates.

But mainly, his contract translates to: you're in our family for life and we'll promote your legacy and pay you for it, just as long as you don't go anywhere else.

I think he might even have a life contract. I recall reading that Austin, Taker and Foley are signed to what are basically life contracts. Probably Michaels too, (and we all know HHH's is his marriage certificate) I think Hogan was offered one too but never signed. Anyone know more about that?

Jeritron
01-13-2008, 04:03 AM
That was such a fuck up when they got Big Show from WCW in 99 and debuted him so awesomely...then fed him to Austin on free TV.

Granted, it all happened fast and Mania was on the horizon so they couldn't do a real program at the time. But still.

By all means I think they should have had him job to Austin, but after such a grand entrance they should have built him up for a few months until after Austin went over The Rock and then fueded Giant/Austin.

I don't know who they should fued Big Show against now, but Edge comes to mind.

Have you seen how much time Armando Estrada gets as General Manager? Foley would be able to play the part and not appear on TV for weeks.

As for Edge vs. Big Show? I like it. Edge vs. Big Show > Edge vs. Undertaker.

With hogan on good terms with wwe now and big show apparently returning i wouldn't be suprised to see the match that was meant to happen at mania 23, hogan vs big show. Was gona say hogan vs khali but seeing as khali managed to fuck up taking a punch....i think show would be the obvious choice.

I kinda agree. Not for Wrestlemania though. Edge vs Taker for Mania with a solid build and the obligatory rematch at Backlash (preferably hell in a cell) would be a much better bet than Edge vs Big Show. That's just for Mania time though, after that Edge vs Big Show would be a much better choice for a summer title fued rather than dragging Edge/Taker out.

I'd like to see Edge hang onto the title for a while against Big Show. After Big Show finally wins it, he goes heel and has a run similar to his ECW run until a good face compettitor takes the title from him, who would be a perfect candidate to eventually put heel MVP over. Not Batista again though, I'd rather see him on Raw to freshen things up. Maybe Jericho or if at all possible Michaels.

I am expecting big things from the big show when he returns since he will be in much better shape than when he left (a repotedly 90lbs. lighter). I am not sure where he will return to though. I can see him returning to the "A" show in RAW or possibly ECW where he left off.
