Yes. I sent mine back because the actual 360 bit the dust. I had it back for an hour and the power supply bit the dust.

Yea your gonna have to send it in...
Mine did the same thing...It gave me the ring..I turned it off...turned back on fine for a little while and then it froze and gave me the ring again. Eventually it will just stay off and not work anymore. Best bet is to call now and send it in.
Only good thing is you atleast get a free game from them out of it.
If you want a temporary fix use the towel trick. Take off everything besides the power cord (that's including hard drive) and wrap your 360 in a towel. Turn it on and leave it for about 10 minutes and then turn it off. Take the towel off and let it cool and then that should fix it for a little bit.
I just got the red ring the other day and if I get it back and it does it again within a month I'm going to try and get them to give me a new one. I believe the new ones have 65nm processors which run cooler, and because the red ring is caused by heat, it should help reduce the occurance of it happening.

The Towel trick is likely to do more harm than good and if they suspect you've done it, there's a decent chance that they won't repair/replace your system.
You're not going to get a falcon, BTW.

So is this red ring thing mainly a problem with the 1st gen models?
Thinking about getting one, but everyone's seem to be breaking all the time

My friend got a 360 almost as soon as they came out, and his still works like a charm.
