View Full Version : Rename a finishing move

NeanderCarl

What it says on the tin! Either rename a finishing move that has an uninspired or nonsensical name, or give a finishing move a name for the first time if it has only ever had a generic name (eg. Roddy Piper's "sleeperhold")

Be serious or comical, up to you. Bad puns, wordplay and in-jokes are welcomed!

I'll start by renaming C.M. Punk's Go To Sleep as "The Crimson Mouthrinse"

NeanderCarl

What about the Hollywood bad boy himself, John Morrison... does his finish even have a name? I'm calling it the "Mulholland Driver".

Not a finished but I liked calling SCSA Thesz Press into a furry of punches ''RattleSnake Bites''

Worst STeFer. Fuckin' Cena and his poorly named moves.

Mr. Nerfect

The FU should be called the fireman's carry slam.

John Morrison's flipping neckbreaker move should be called something like the "Camera Roll." It seems he's more rock star than movie star these days, though.

Mr. Kennedy's finisher is apparently called the "Mic Check," which isn't particularly good. I'd prefer it to be named either "All is Not Wellness" as an inside joke at himself, or "The Kennedy Curse."

Snitsky needs to call his Pump Handle Slam "Snit Happens."

Shawn Michaels seems to be using the Inverted Figure Four or something now, so that needs a name. Just to be a bastard, he might as well call it "RTB," which can stand for "Ring the Bell."

I've always liked "The Double Tribute" as a nickname for Chavo Guerrero's Frog Splash, seeing as Chavo started using it as a tribute to Eddie Guerrero, and Eddie started using it as a tribute to Art Barr.

NeanderCarl
01-14-2008, 11:42 PM
The Kennedy Curse isn't a bad name for his move. Pretty good!

If Santino even HAS a finisher, it ought to be called "The Italian Job".

NeanderCarl
01-15-2008, 02:18 AM
(As opposed to "The Italian Jobber". That would be his nickname.)

Mr. Nerfect
01-15-2008, 04:24 AM
If Santino even HAS a finisher, it ought to be called "The Italian Job".

That seems fitting. Another move deserves the title of "Can of Ass Whip." On a serious note, he should also have a "Tribute to Maria" move, just to remind us he gets to open a can of ass whip with her every night.

Yeah I'd definitely rename the Pedigree, as it was named back when he was that blue blood character in 1995/96. I'd name it "Endgame" or something similar.

Hows abouts Hogan's legdrop? I've heard it referred to as the Legdrop Of Doom, but I assume sarcastically as I've never heard it called that on-screen.

Any bright ideas?

TerranRich

Alternately, you could call the Pedigree The Finisher Of Finishers.

I've always thought that Lita's moonsault should have been called the Standing Twirl Drop.

Maybe some kind of "real American" themed pun would suffice? But I am unable to conjure one up at the mo... but if I Ameri-can't, I'm sure one of you guys Ameri-will.

I've always liked "The Double Tribute" as a nickname for Chavo Guerrero's Frog Splash, seeing as Chavo started using it as a tribute to Eddie Guerrero, and Eddie started using it as a tribute to Art Barr.

I thought a while back they referred to the Triple Vertical Suplex/Frog Splash combo as the TTE, or Tribute To Eddie, which, really wasn’t, and still isn’t, such a bad name for those particular moves when done by Chavo one after the other.

With how stupid fans in the arena are, they should rename HBK's "Sweet Chin Music" the "1-2-3-4-5 Kick"

Walls of Jericho should be called the Liontamer...you know, just because it sounds cool. :shifty:

On a personal note though, I think some moves retain their name on tradition and changing it doesn't always stick. Like Big Show renaming his Choke Slam a few years back "The Showstopper".

I was going to touch on this, but decided not to, as a lot of people usually get pretty territorial about the move for whatever reason. I'd call it "Game Over."

JBL's Clothesline from Hell

Market Crasher

It does need a change now that JBL isn't an Acolyte anymore. I've seen it referred to as the Clothesline from New York elsewhere, and that gives me a chuckle. I had a really good name for it once, but it's escaped me.

The WWE would probably just call it the "Clothesline from JBL," knowing them. See, it rhymes with the old name.

JBL's Clothesline from Hell

Michael Wallstreet's finisher in WCW was known as "the Stock Market Crash". They don't wanna be making it TOO obvious that JBL is a blatant, brought-up-to-date ripoff of "The Computerized Man" or whatever the fuck he was known as.

It's not. That's why some people are renaming it.

And, actually, The Pedigree at least reminds you of Triple H's training and internship under William Regal, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Killer Kowalski and the like. All "Mic Check" makes me think of, is Kennedy repeating his last name.
