View Full Version : Idea for the ECW title match at Mania...
With the talk of Big Show returning, I was thinking. Have him come in and dominate the Rumble to the end, with his first elimination being John Morrison. It finally comes down to Show/Taker, it's pretty even until Show gets the upper hand and Chokeslams Taker. Out of no where, Morrison runs out, gets on the apron, distracting Show and allowing Taker to throw him out.
Show returns to ECW and is pissed at Morrison and gets a match with him at WrestleMania. However, Morrison is lined up for a title shot at Punk at No Way Out. Morrison beats Punk with interference from Show, assiting Morrison because he wants the title shot.
This opens Punk up for the MITB match.
At Mania, Show beats Morrison. Punk wins the MITB match.
Backlash sees a four way dance between Show, Morrison, Chavo and Punk (Punk does NOT use his MITB shot). Show wins.
This all leads to Punk moving to SmackDown! and using his MITB shot for the WHC at SummerSlam.
Chavo can go on to feud with Show.

I like the idea but A. i dont see them giving ecw so much spotlight at the rumble and B. I think they will probably put the big show on their A show in that of raw.
Also, a show vs. chavo fued would be terrible.
More like Big Show returns at the Royal Rumble and beats the shit out of CM Punk at the end of the ECW Title match, saying that he wants his title back. They have some tag team match or something at No Way Out where Big Show gets the pin, then its Punk vs. Big Show at WrestleMania for the title, which Punk wins.

Yeah Chavo vs. Big Show would be laughable at best.

I like the Big Show/CM Punk idea more than the Big Show/John Morrison idea. Just who is the face there?
What will likely happen: Mr. Kennedy lasts in the Rumble for a long time, and Big Show looks like a world beater, but then Bobby Lashley eliminates them both. Lashley is the man who beat Show for the ECW Title and Kennedy was the guy who kayfabe injured him. Three-Way feud. They go on to have a Triple Threat at WrestleMania, and they might throw the ECW Title in by moving Kennedy to ECW unexpectedly, or putting it on Big Show again at No Way Out, or something.
CM Punk makes it into Money in the Bank, Bobby Lashley wins his third ECW Title and the WWE tries to make it look like a World Title again, but no one else buys it.

I think WWE shot themselves in the foot with burying and firing all the ECW Originals. CM Punk needs a win over an ECW legend in an "Extreme Rules" match at WrestleMania for the ECW Championship. CM Punk vs Sabu would have been amazing. I personally would be interested in seeing Mick Foley try to go after the ECW Championship (and built it up like he might actually win the damn thing) at WrestleMania. I think a heel Mick Foley trying to cement his legacy after CM Punk says that Foley wasn't quite on the level of a Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, etc. Foley tells CM Punk that he will show Punk and the entire world why he is the "Hardcore Legend". CM Punk vs Mick Foley in an extreme rules match for the ECW title would be ratings if they let them go out there and try and put on a match worthy of the original ECW. I think they need to cement CM Punk as the new face of ECW and try and build the ECW brand on CM Punk.

Before Shelton Benjamin emerged as the likely challenger for the ECW Title at WrestleMania, this was my pick, too.
Personally, I'd probably go a little backwards with it, and have Punk play the heel, seeing as the fans do generally like Mick Foley. As a heel, even though he is surprisingly good in the role, he just doesn't seem right, to me. A smart-ass, "I'm better than the old ECW" Punk would be pretty fucking cool. He's been a face long enough to actually get away with the heel turn this time.
You just have Edge turn on Chavo Guerrero next week, and help Punk retain. CM Punk becomes a partner in Edge's alliance with Vickie Guerrero, and Punk and Edge help each other out, which leads to ECW Title matches against The Undertaker, Batista, Rey Mysterio and a face Chavo Guerrero for Punk. Throw in Tommy Dreamer, and then Mick Foley, and you've got a pretty decent reign for Punk. Eventually, you can have Foley and maybe even Dreamer pass the torch to Punk, and let him know that he is the guy at last, and it can kind of be a return back to his face ways, only this time with a little more tinge to his character.
