How many roids did Cena take on his roid...errr uhh road to recovery?

Looks like Jeff Hardy will never be main eventing again.

To be honest, I'd rather see them build something GOOD for the Intercontinental title for once. Jeff is ridiculously over, and he's competed with the world champion - use him to being someone else up and have a match at Mania. Kennedy? Carlito? Santino? There are so many mid-carders on RAW who could use a rub from Jeff that it's almost impossible for WWE to screw that up.

They should have had HHH win so a jealous Cena can turn...but nope, we'll get HHH turning and the same fucking feud we've already seen.

Fuck this shit, seriously. No way I'm ordering WM.

So anyway. Who were the last 4? No way in hell anybody is getting those points for tipsters.

Kane, Batista, Cena, Triple H

I will admit I marked for Cena at 30.

It was my first show in well over 3 months I think and I liked it. That said if Orton retained (havent watched it all yet) Cena winning was the wrong call.

Now if Hardy won I would have marked hard to see Cena heel vs. Hardy Face at Mania.

Also is this the first Rumble winner from 30?

How was the reaction for Cena

Huuuuuuuuuuuuge pop when he came out, then the crowd turned on him during the exchanges with Triple H, but warmed to him after he won.

I cannot fuckin believe it. Do you think they exaggerated Cena's injury from day one to swerve everyone?

Because just three months ago he was "out for up to a year".

Taker won from 30 last year.

Dude, if it is Hardy v. Cena at Mania, i think that the crowd reaction will be near Rock/Hogan via WM 18. That shit right there would be a fucking MAIN EVENT.

How was the reaction for Cena

Good. Until people realised they were supposed to boo him.

And to those saying 'Waste of money', 'worst Rumble ever' etc, get real. Also, if Cena had been announced, he'd have been one of the favourites to win and you'd still have watched the show and bitched, only difference is you feel this gives you a 'proper' reason to. Fact is, Cena = money more than anybody else WWE has. And your 'I H8 CENA' argument is a lot more stale than his act.

Ya I marked for Cena too.

I see a 3 way at Mania. Orton HHH Cena.

HBK vs Taker too.

Honestly, how did Cena get past HHH and the glass ceiling.

HBK v. Taker at Mania would be incentive for me to buy it. Even if it's gonna be something absurd like $70.

Awesome post!

But I'm surprised they went with Cena and not Trips or even Batista.

Cena must have gone through some mad ridiculous rehab to get back. I applaud his effort. I will go on record, saying that I like John Cena.

Yea, he must have pushed himself through rehab to get back and i think he deserves much respect.

So much for big show returning, cena returning nobody seen coming and im suprised they managed to keep it under wraps. Wouldn't be at all suprised i it was a last minute thing. And how the fuck did finlay get "dq'd" from the rumble for using the shilelagh? They showed in the build up kane nutting honky tonk man with the guitar, not the first time weapons have been used in the rumble, i recall steve blackman using weapons as well but now all of a sudden its a dq?

As usual the rules change on a yearly basis it seems..apparently hornswoggle got dq'd for being guilty by association. All the build up for him in the rumble and he was barely in the ring even.

I think Shelton's stint was the worst part of this Rumble. They were trying to build him as credible, and he just screwed it all up. Well, creative screwed it up.

Overall I enjoyed the show. Couple of surprises in Cena, Snuka and Piper. Couple of nice nods to history throughout the show. Two enjoyable title matches. A grudge match which, whilst not decisive, at least achieved an objective. The "Hardy for Champion" hyperbole should cool now. No sign of Big Show. Unpredictable outcome. Good stuff.

Didn't much like the treatment of Santino and Shelton, and Finlay being disqualified was a joke, but what's a few flaws in a WWE PPV? Coulda been much worse. The lack of consistency in entrant intervals was more noticable than it should have been (they always do it, but COME ON, sometimes it was around ten seconds after the last guy actually got into the ring!)

Yeah but him going in, nailing the 3 ECW guys will tide him over. It's won't hurt him.

And Kane is 'comfortable'. He's always gonna be over to a certain degree, no matter what which is why he wasn't really out of place in the final 4.

Dude, if it is Hardy v. Cena at Mania, i think that the crowd reaction will be near Rock/Hogan via WM 18. That shit right there would be a fucking MAIN EVENT.

I might have to agree. However - If Hardy is going to main-event against Cena, he NEEDS to go cleanly over Orton (i.e. no bullshit roll-up victory like he did against HHH).

Having said that - If the Cena/Orton is the main-event at Wrestlemania, the fans will probably cheer Orton anyways. Perhaps the WWE could try and do a double turn here? (a la Austin/Bret).

Another gripe... it was Kennedy who put Cena on the shelf, yet when Cena hit the ring he made a beeline for everybody except Kennedy.

It is obvious we are going to see Triple H vs John Cena at WrestleMania 24 now, based on the story of the Rumble match (Triple H's disbelief that Cena would show up on "his" big night and steal his win) plus the carefully orchestrated nose-to-nose staredown between the two which just so happened to beautifully capture the WrestleMania 24 banner in a perfect "build-up video package" shot.

Man, the main even for WM needs to be Hardy v. Cena v. Orton. FFS, HHH & Steph, let the young guys run the fucking company. That match alone has BUYRATE written all over it. All of those dudes are over: Cena = came back strong, has national reaction, cheer or boo. He will bring heat to the match regardless. Hardy = been the best he's been, WAY over with the fans and has a solid fanbase. Orton = been good with the title, get him more of a personality and he'll be one of the best of the next generation.

There is no way they could go wrong with that main event. i just do NOT want to see HHH in the fucking main event AGAIN b/c he's had his time and even if he puts someone over, it won't mean anything. Have Hardy win the match though, making it more special and setting up a storyline for those 3 for the future months. Vince, i am giving you the fucking answers right here, just DO IT.

I just got back from the Rumble... while I thought the show was awesome (though I certainly didn't agree with the ending), I'm REALLY curious how it turned out on TV. The crowd was REALLY pro-Edge, and the Orton/Hardy match was evenly split. Also, when Cena's music hit, the place went nuts.... until his music died, then the overwhelming boos kicked in. I thought it was odd, the crowd was so confused how to react to Cena.

Santino got HUGE heat, the "Let's go Giants" chant was deafening, but no surprise there.

My section sucked (and the guy I was sitting next to smelt SO bad) but the energy overall in the place was amazing. Great PPV.

Just got back. Had a blast at the show.

Flair/MVP was a good opener, of course Flair was way over.

JBL/Jericho went on a bit too long, and should have gotten to the brawling a bit earlier. Did its job though.

Edge/Rey was an awesome match with a great finish. Edge was extremely over, and it was about 75/25 Edge.

Hardy/Orton had a big match feel to it, and I really enjoyed it. Crowd seemed to be into both Orton and Hardy, and some people had a tough time making up their minds. Good match though.

The Rumble match itself was an amazing match to watch live. It was just awesome. Taker/HBK being one and two got the crowd immediately into it of course. Cena coming out 30th was a huge shocker, and I was in disbelief just saying "Holy Shit." Great surprise though, shocking the hell out of MSG (in a bad way for most though).

4 of my friends went with me, so we each picked out 6 numbers out of a hat and drew between numbers 1-30. Of course, the winning number wins the money. Drawing Taker, I thought I won. Then I drew HHH, thought I won. Then #30 comes out for my friend Dave, and the money is history...aw well.

Overall, I just had a very very fun time :D :y:

VERY interesting observation.

Love him or hate him, the TRUTH of the matter is that Cena draws the MOST crowd reaction out of ALL the wrestlers right now (when facing top-tier opponents) Period.

This is a LOT different than the dreaded "X-Pac heat" (which many posters on here accuse Cena of garnering). YES - "boring" chants were evident when Cena faced guys like Umaga and Khali....but guess what? Even The Rock would get 'boring' chants against opponents like that!

p.s. As far as Jeff Hardy goes, I actually back the WWE's decision here. As hot as Jeff is right now, I think it would serve him better if he defeated a few more top-tier opponents (which would then further establish him as a main-event guy). There is a danger in pushing a guy too fast (i.e. Rey Mysterio).

Let Jeff feud with the likes of Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, etc. Have Hardy go OVER those guys. In the Summer, THEN you can have Hardy win the title.

Just my opinion.

Agreed, it was a major swerve, it’s moments like that, which make me love wrestling.

I thought the show was alright, I don’t feel ripped off. Hardy really stepped up to the plate and has now elevated himself to the next level, have him win the MITB and got for a title again in the summer (I’m thinking Smackdown as Cena/Orton will probably take up most of this year)

It makes sense for Cena to take the win, he has unfinished business with Orton, as that feud never ended

This also means we might not see HHH in a title match at mania!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!

I’m sensing a tease for HBK/Taker at mania, which would be too ridiculous for words, that could quite easily be match of the decade

Overall, solid show, Rey dropped the ball, but the rest of it was quite entertaining

Well, now that I've had time to sleep and get over the initial shock of Cena winning...here's my analysis:

Well, obviously, Cena winning makes a LOT of sense. Like it or not, he does draw, I guess my anger just comes from his constant overcoming of the odds no matter what. There's really only so far they can go with that schtick...I mean once he wins the title at WM, what else is left? Him turning heel after winning the belt would be the clear best way to freshen everything up and lead to all new feuds, particularly one against Jeff Hardy (who would replace Cena as the little kids/girls' favorite). Cena can trash the fans and say he never needed them, he can even point out that most of the crowd boos him anyway so they can fuck off, classic heel shit. It'll never happen, because I really think they want Cena to get to Hogan invincible status...but I can dream.

Speaking of Hardy...I dunno, unless they have a MITB win at WM in store, I see him being stuck out of the main event loop unless he were to go to Smackdown or ECW. They did a good job of making him look legit, but I think the match ending was great symbolism...worked his ass off only to get put to a dead halt by a move out of nowhere. It puts Orton over though, so kudos.

Overall, I give WWE credit. I said I wanted a surprise winner, and I certainly got it...the Rumble match itself just felt too thrown together as I've said, but still a good job of shocking everyone. I honestly wouldn't be shocked if Cena wasn't injured at ALL. I bet he just took the time off to film his latest film, and he just wore a sling when out in public...awesome swerve there, though it dashes my dreams of Cena not headlining WM.

Well. After a night of sleeping and blowing off steam, here's what I think of last night match by match.

Flair vs. MVP was a alright opener. Had a feeling the show would have some bumps along the line when Robinson fucked up that three count. Unless that was scripted. Flair lives another day. End of story.

JBL vs. Jericho. This could have gone either way cause it kinda was a bad mismatch between the two. Kinda interested to see where both men go from here. Really wasn't a big fan of this feud.

Edge vs. Rey. Rey gotta stop with the character crap at PPVs and hit the gym. Wasn't really that great out there this time around. Really stupid having edge fall into like three 619s in the match. Not a bad ending. Put Rey in another fued now!

Orton vs. Jeff Hardy. Crowd was hot for this. Honestly with all these high flying moves Jeff was bringing out (most of them missed their mark), I had him pegged walking out with this. But I think Jeff losing was good for him. Getting over HHH may get you there, but I don't see him "there" yet. Maybe throw him in one or two more big fueds, I can see a nasty Hardy Bros. fued down the road, and something with an upper card name, then hand him over the belt around mid-year. Not a bad out of nowhere RKO for the win.

The Royal Rumble. We went into this match knowing 24 names and 6 unknowns. Undertaker and Michaels starting it out took us all by surprise (one of many). However, everyone was getting thrown out way to fast. Let them hang around, chew up some clock time, then make your exit. I could care less about the structual integrity of the ring. Hornswaggle was chilling under the ring, I could see it falling on him.

Pretty shocked when Superfly hit the ring. Must be hurtin' for cash. Piper I thought I would not ever see again. I thought that cancer scare would be the end of him, but somehow, he made his way back and had his shtick with Snuka. Better start ordering some Nutrisystem.

And so we count down to #30. The IWC had either The Big Show, Ron Killings, Chris Harris, or the other guy whose name I can't think of at this time coming down. Would have marked out to see him come down and throw people in the audience, and maybe go toe to toe with Khali. But he got tossed early. But low and behold John Cena, gathering the strength of children and women screaming inside the Garden, makes his shocking return.

Was it the work of god? Or could it have been his body? Is it a new form of rehab the medical community does not even know about? How could a man with an injury that could keep a man out 6 months to a year make a grand return in only 3? OR, was it even an injury to begin with? Anyway, we're back to the original script yet again. Cena throws HHH over to win the Rumble. I'm only left with this question still buzzing in my mind ever since Cena beat Trips at 'Mania.

Honestly, how did Cena get past HHH and the glass ceiling.

It wasn't a bad show. Just got killed at the end when "he" came back. Would have paid $20 instead of $40 just for that instead.

I don't think the injury was a hoax, but they MUST have exaggerated the severity from day one.

If it WAS a hoax, as well as being a stroke of genius in a day and age of lacklustre by-the-numbers booking, WWE also owes a refund to everyone who purchased No Mercy on the promise of a Cena-Orton Last Man Standing match prior to the "injury".

And in a lot of ways, that is the PERFECT reaction for John Cena right now. Whether it's via cheers or boos, Cena gets a HUGE response.

If ANYONE from the WWE is reading this right now, my suggestion is to keep Cena EXACTLY the way he is! (even if it means 95%+ people hating Cena).

With Cena technically being a face (but being booed like a heel), Cena also has a wider variety of opponents to feud against.

The KEY however, is to have Cena constantly feuding with top-tier opponents (i.e. Orton, Triple H, Undertaker, Batista, etc.). Hopefully one of these days, we see Cena/Rock.

If Cena feuds against crap like Khali (or fights non-main-event guys...like Umaga.....or guys that he's feuded with 1,000,000,000 times....like Edge), then the 'desired heat' will turn into 'boring' chants.

talk about slapping the excitement out of everyone on here

Hardy gets jobbed clean and Cena comes back early to win the rumble.

Kinda funny actually. They completely blew a good thing, again.

Jeff Hardy's title push is the biggest missed oppurtunity since Jericho returning, which was the biggest missed oppurtunity since Kennedy being the bastard child, which was the biggest missed oppurtunity since something that probably came up a month or two before and so on.

Why do you people keep ordering the ppvs I will never understand

Jeritron
01-28-2008, 08:12 PM
So Hardy beats HHH clean and then Orton beats Hardy clean

Where's the logic in that? HHH jobbed himself out to Hardy for no reason. He was better off just losing to Orton and saving all this for a later time.

I am watching it again right now. Looks like Holly broke HBK's nose when he entered the ring and stomped on his head/face. That guy needs to retire.

Yeah, just downloaded the show and I'm glad I did not pay for this pay per view.

-I loved the Flair versus M.V.P. match.
-Thought it was silly to continue the Y2J-JBL feud and think Jericho should have won the match to end the feud.
-Not a big fan of the Edge-Mysterio match.
-I never really allowed myself to get into the Orton-Hardy match because if I hyped myself all up for a Hardy win and then he just goes on to lose, I would be thoroughly disappointed. I'm still disappointed and I think the Orton win left a damper on watching the rest of the show.

-Most interesting part of the Rumble was the HBK-Undertaker potential WrestleMania match, which would be sick! Cena returns... I was surprized for a second and then I stopped caring. And I got 2/4 on tipsters for my Final Four choices in Kane & Triple H which was cool.
