I like pitchfork despite it's Indie leanings, not because it's cool, but because I just happen to agree with their taste a lot.

I really started paying attention after I downloaded their top 100 songs of the year and loved most of them, now I go every day and download anything they give a rating of 8 or above.

I know however I shouldn't just rely on one website, so can anyone else recommend a good Indie web site, maybe a folk website, good underground Hip hop site, and A good post rock site, maybe a metal site that isn't filled with bands that are simply metal with no brain.

Despite it's indy leanings? All you ever list off are indy bands.

I don't use anything but my own ratings. Don't really care how it's reviewed.

Yeah, not all Indy is bad though man, He has liked what he found so far.

Like I said above, if he is finding stuff that appeals to him, and enjoys it, why is it making him look like an idiot? why burn him for it? I have used sites like Pitchfork before, and it lead me on to discovering some of my favorite bands.

You don't have to tell me about indy, Iceberg.

And where did I "burn" him? I simply stated a fact.

I did not necessarily download all I saw that they suggested, some higher ranking stuff i disliked, but for the most part, It helped me alot in diving deeper into Metal.

I am looking for other review sites now, this is how I find good music, I mean where do you hear about bands?

Btw, Thanks FA.

I mean I lsten to over 30 new albums every day, honestly. I am constantly reviewing, and If I am gonna do this I want it all to be top quality. When I used to try to find it for myself it was hit or miss, when I use review sites (I also use questionable content) I usually am pleased with what I find moreso than just catching something a freind has. I don't know why I just tend to enjoy what Pitchfork has.

Also WEX I want to broaden my horizons.

I love RHCP, Bowie, Beatles, etc. But Indie just really is my style. I mean that's just how it is I guess.

So now that we've got the arguements out of the way can we try something unpresidented and actually respond to what the topic asks instead of critisizing it. I know this is novel but lets just try it and see if it works!

When I said despite their indie leanings I meant a lot of people say they give more favorable reviews towards Indie bands. I agree with this, and do not flaw them for it. I love indie so that is the reason of course.

I generally see what's new by receiving it in at work. I put out the new releases, so I know what's going on. Other than that, I'll check out what my friends listen to, what like minded posters here listen to, or shit that I just randomly check out because the cover caught my eye or the name of the band was cool.

I'd recommend some metal to you, but I'm mostly into black/death metal and I don't think it would be your style. I guess check out Death, though. Sounds of Perseverance.

Usually for me its fans of _____ may also like ______ tags on stuff, If there is a new band it helps me out alot.

My friends, specifically my buddy Peter, he got me into metal and rock in the first place, and has a wonderful taste in my type of music.

Charts and Top 100 mean nothing to me.

Like minded posters, also help, DieselMac, and such.

FakeRazor and Clox have helped, as have Blitz.

Mars Volta ftw!

Top 100 only means something to me if it's of the year, not according to sales. I mean I don't now I usually think they are generally accurate as far as my tastes are concerened. Although I may not agree with some placement, I usually like just about everything.

Anyway what are some other reviews sites besides pitchfork?

PM me any bands you think are good. I'll listen to anything.

I think Silent Civillian is a very talented band, but like most metal, I have a hard time differentiating them unless they stand out like High On Fire, System of A Down, Dragon Force, Arch Enemy, Opeth, etch

which opeth dragonforce and Arch Enemy albums should I get by the way?
