Ok, what i wanna know here is which people you think would make up the ultimate band. You can have 1 singer, 3 guitar players, 1 bass player, 1 drummer, and 1 keyboard player.

just curious to see what diversity TPWW has on a topic such as this

Ideally I would have 2 Bassists

Singer - David Draiman - Disturbed
Guitar - Zack Wylde - Ozzy
Guitar -James Hetfield - Metallica
Bass - Jason Newsted - Ex-Metallica
Bass - Tony Campos - Static-X
Drummer - Dave Lombardo - Slayer
Keyboard - Jordan Rudess - Dream Theatre

This is gonna take a while, because I'm gonna have to do it in like several different styles, because some would clash but that doesn't make them any worse than someone else, they just aren't people who should play together...

I'lll write something up tommorrow when I sober up and come up with a few good mega bands.

I dont think he was including styles and/or clashings, what you think the best possible line-up would be, problem free, and able to play the obvious style of music, mine would be Industrial/Thrash Metal :)

See that's the thing, writing style and not actual playing of said instrument is what makes a lot of my favorite bands amazing.

I guess John Frusciante (red hot chilli peppers) would be on guitar
Keyboards would be Fiery Furnace's Friedbergers
Second guitar Johnny Greenwood from radiohead
Singer would be Britt Daniels and Steve Malkmus (spoon)
and the arrangement would be the dude from The books.
bass would be Primus's bassist.

no wait better

it'd be like the bens and travelling wildburys

it'd be
Steve Malkmus
James Mangum
Britt Daniel
Beck
and Conor Oberst

Just writing all of it and playing all the various instruments.

Or members of Mogwai, lightning Bolt, explosions in the sky, Slint, and Sigur ros.

Oh and someone from the microphones.

Ok but as far as all times go

Guitar- Eric Clapton
Guitar 2- Jimi Hendrix
Singer- David Bowie, Freddy Mercury, Frank Black, and John Lennon
Bass- Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth

With Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, and Conor Oberst writing the songs

and all the member of radiohead arranging them

also I think the singers from arcade fire would fit nicely anywhere in here.

There are other instrument than just guitar, bass, drums (hah) and keyboards.

Maybe I would want a cello, or a recorder. Hell, I might want a hurdy gurdy.

As such, I will answer the question later without the limitation.

Anyway, here's mine:

Vocals - James Labrie (Mullmuzzler)
Guitars - John Petrucci (Liquid Tension Experiment)
Bass - John Myung (The Jelly Jam)
Drums - Mike Portnoy (O.S.I.)
Keyboards - Jordan Rudess (Solo)

If this band ever got together, they would call themselves Dream Theater. :shifty:

Ok, for real... This thread has been done hundreds of times, and I always find it difficult to come up with one band, coz there's so many combinations that would totally rule. But I'll try for real: (Using one member from any band)

Vocals: Roy Khan (Kamelot)
Guitars: Michael Romeo (Symphony X)
Keyboards: Kevin Moore (Chroma Key)
Bass: Joey Vera (Fates Warning)
Drums: Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater)

I wouldn't call that my "Ultimate Dream Band" but I suppose it'll rule none-the-less.

Kapoutman

Vocals: Noel Gallagher
Guitars: John Frusciante

Slap together Queen and the Who, and it'd look pretty much like my dream band. Maybe throw in a little Tony Iommi for sheer fat CRUNCH.
