Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald reported the following today in an article about Lesnar leaving the WWE this Sunday.

"Ironically, speculation was Goldberg would wrestle his final WWE match at WrestleMania, but since becoming friends with Stone Cold Steve Austin and the apparent departure of Lesnar, look for Goldberg to remain with the company -- possibly joining the SmackDown roster."

I have not heard this anywhere else, but it would make sense for the WWE to possibly coax Goldberg back to the company with one of their major superstars leaving.

Holy shit.

Denial is such a sad thing.

Maybe it is a hoax, but probably not. Lesnar is said to have been upset and bored with the WWE for a couple of months now.

The only thing that makes me really wonder if this is a hoax or not is the fact that Lesnar JUST bought himself a ****ing airplane so that he can fly himself to WWE events instead of driving. Why would you do that and then quit the company?

Sorry, but just the fact that trhis article is contrary to what we've read in the past (about Goldberg) should tell us things aren't written in stone (except HHH's main even status).

On the Toronto maple Leafs message board there was a topic Off topic on lesner and the poster mentioned that he heard Lesner is going to join the NFL.

Man, this story just gets more and more twisted. Maybe Vince IS using the internet to play us all for fools, but if so, it'd actually be a pretty cool swerve.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't Brock have a quite a few years left on his contract? Vince won't let him quit and go do something else if it doesn't benefit him. Maybe i'm wrong but i smell a work.

Hmmmmmmm............

I wonder what the outcome of the Lesnar/Goldberg match will be.....since both men are slated to leave after Mania'. I'm thinking (fearing) that Austin might beat up both of them and proclaim himself as the winner............... :|

I wouldn't mind seeing this scenerio however:

-Lesnar defeats Goldberg fairly and squarely.

-After the match, Lesnar cuts a promo on how he has achieved everything in the WWE. Lesnar then talks about how he has a desire to become an NFL professional athlete. Lesnar then says "farewell.......and that he may return one day for 'something special' a la The Rock).

So basically - Lesnar kind of becomes like The Rock (i.e. a once in a blue moon type worker).

Just as The Rock being in Hollywood gives the WWE exposure, Lesnar in the NFL could perhaps give the WWE exposure as well.......... :?:

Just as The Rock is doing now, Lesnar could be used on occassion to put over up-coming superstars by doing a signficant JOB when needed.

I've said he should for years...

Could you imagine? Vince McMahon actually doing something an internet "smark" suggested? :D

yeah, pwtorch is reporting it also, and I find of the sites, there normally correct on these things.

That being said, can't blame him, he never enjoyed the travel and at least he did it right, gave notice and such. Not like (the big aussie) who just walked away.

I would think the WWE would push to re-sign Goldberg now and possible keep him on Smackdown.

As of last night, nothing has happened on the Goldberg front, and I wouldn't expect anything to happen until Sunday.

There is no deal in place, the WWE made Goldberg an offer a long time ago, but they knew he wouldn't accept. Whether this Lesnar deal pressures them to give Goldberg another sweetheart deal is still up in the air.

The main problem with Goldberg is that he's another babyface. The WWE have tons of babyfaces on Smackdown, what they actually need is a strong heel to replace Lesnar (Kane?). So, in theory Goldberg would address the problem of losing a star, but I dont think he would helpt because like I said, SD especially is strong on the bayface side.

I'd have Kane switch to SD and feud with the Undertaker every SD. This feud could (and will be) the hottest on TV right now.

I think the whole Taker deal will have a short lifespan, so I would agree they might as well play out this run with Kane as Taker's main rival. The only other guy I could see him working with is Show, but aside from that I dont think anyone should have to be fed to Taker with the Old School gimmick.

Move Goldberg to SD and have him turn Heel.

Feud w/ Taker, Eddie & Cena.
