Silversun Pickups
These guys are really good. If you like rock music you will like them, I think they have pretty broad appeal. They're indie/alternative I guess. A lot of people draw comparisons between them and Smashing Pumpkins. I hear some Sunny Day Real Estate in there too, but more accessible.

LCD Soundsystem
Most people probably know about them but their new album is really good. This is how dance-rock should be done. The song "All My Friends" hasn't left my head.

Moros Eros
Been talking about them for a while. Math rock/emo band signed to Victory, which is a classically shitty label, but they are incredible. "I Will Come Back Again" is probably the most catchy song ever. "Madness Feels Normal" jesus. Great fucking song. They sound like Maps and Atlases, if you've ever heard them. If you haven't, check them out too.

Damiera
In the same vein as Moros Eros. Pretty similar bands. If you like one you'll like the other. Check out "Broken Hands."

Xiu Xiu
You guys know the story with Xiu Xiu but they have a new album out so check it out.

Rivers Cuomo
If you haven't checked out the home recordings yet, get on it. Pure sex. Especially "The World We Love So Much." One of the most beautifully raw songs I've ever heard.

The Mars Volta
Once again, obviously. New album though so get it.

Anti-pop Consortium
For all you underground rap fans, check these guys out. They have a bunch of good albums including one with jazz pianist Matthew Shipp that should satisfy all.

Liars
Seen a bunch of you talk about them before, just thought I'd throw them a Rza endorsement as well. They're hard to classify as they cover a wide array of styles but they're kind of unlike anything else out there.

Karate
A personal favorite of mitchanthropic and yours truly. Indie "post rock" with jazz guitar leanings.

The Sound
The forgotten post-punk band of the 1980s.

I just put Xiu Xiu and Karate on my "list" because you talk so much about them. I trust your judgement.

The thing with Xiu Xiu is you recommend them, but at the same time almost apologize for it.

Yo, I wonder if there is a way you could some how supply me with a copy of this album... while some how keeping it for yourself. I'm no expert, but I think digitial technology might make this possible.

Wait, I don't have that. I thought you were talking about Fag Patrol because it has covers on it.

i don't like mars volta as much as some. I wouldn't put them in my top 100 of all time even. But I think they are pretty amazing. They'd be in my top 50 of the 00's though.

Some of their songs are fantastic, some of their songs I considered un-downloading. I don't think they have any songs I'm "meh" on, it's either one way or the other.

Such excellent recommendations, Rza. You are a man of fine, fine taste.

May I suggest, for those amongst us who are acquainted with and enjoy Karate, that you also may like Sharks Keep Moving? It is Jake from Minus the Bear's former band, and is sort of a Minus the Bear/Karate amalgamation in terms of soundscape.

I have been plugging +/- for a while now, too. They are like an indie/math rock/electronica hybrid. Some really catchy songs, with a tendency for odd time signatures (7/8 ftw).

One half of Pinback, Rob Crow has put out some pretty solid solo stuff too, which you can find on the CD "Living Well". The way my friend T describes it is "Pinback without the other guy", which is as apt a description as any. It's all fairly subdued sample-fused indie goodness.

Ireland's The Redneck Manifesto also provide a nice, unique take on the instrumental rock genre, with songs raging from the infectiously catchy (We Still Got It) to the dreamily atmospheric (Soundscapes over Landscapes). They are a lot of fun.

Finally, for some lovely, angular, and loud indie rock, you can't go past Les Savy Fav. Fair bit of post-hardcore influence in there as far as I can tell, so it's a little rougher than some, but daaaaaamn is it a dirty jive.

I know Sharks Keep Moving, I believe we have discussed them before.

Never heard +/- Will check it out

I already know about Crow, Manifesto and Les Savy Fav. Good stuff
