It was pretty terrible wasn't it? Messias looked afraid to get involved and, as much as it sounds ridiculous and even retarded, Sabu was a much better opponent for Abyss to face off against.
Total lack of any psychology and suspence with an uninspired finish. Poor.
Vince Russo Booking Rule #1: All matches must have total lack of any psychology and suspense with an uninspired finish.

Vince Russo Booking Rule #0: SWERVE! There is no booking. (Also you thought Rule #1 was the first rule, but forgot rule #0...SWERVE!)

Honestly, the only Barb Wire match that I've ever actually enjoyed was Terry Funk v Sabu. As a general rule of thumb, I never expect anything great if the match has the words "barb wire", "exploding", or "bed of ____" in it.

I didn't expect anything either except for Abyss's arms to get cut as usual, and for Abyss to take a bump into barbed wire boards, again, as usual.
But this was just a poor match. I would go as far to say it had the timing and storytelling of a CZW match, but at least Nick Mondo or the other nameless dumb fuck would finish with some sort of insane spot.

Would 90's Mick Foley Vs. Abyss be a good hardcore match?

It was surprisingly not very bloody for a barbed wire match. Mesias had his Dean Malenko-esque trunks on, got driven into the barbed wire several times (both chest and back), and barely got cut at all.

Who would have actually paid for that crap?
