Ace Steel's release was talked about for a while now as WWE officials never saw a lot of value in him. However, the deciding factor in his release was stemming from an altercation he had a few weeks back at an OVW show. According to eye witnesses, Tony Atlas was back at OVW talking with the talent. When he asked for everyone's names, Atlas informed Ace that the office doesn't look too highly on people with the name "Ace". Ace quipped back by asking, "What's it to you, Saba?" When the news of this got to WWE officials, they decided that it was time to let Ace go. Another factor in his release is that with him being friends with C.M. Punk, they decided to set an example to Punk by releasing his friend. As what appears to be a "warning" of sorts to let Punk know that the same fate could be in store for him if he doesn't straighten up and fly right.
The only reason why Colt Cabana still has a job is apparently they see him as a kid friendly, comedy character much like Eugene was.

I could believe it, but what I don't get are all these rumors about Punk.
If he were constantly in hot water, I'm sure he wouldn't be the most showcased talent on ECW. Also, he's been on every PPV since Judgment Day. With him getting all these indirect "warnings" one would think he would be getting treated a little more poorly.
Just a thought. :-\

Pretty dumb of "Ace" to mouth off to his superiors. Now he has no job.

I don't believe a word of this. Just because it's Ace Steel and CM Punk related, the internet goes into overdrive with the conspiracy theories.

I don't think that's it. I don't quite believe this either, as I believe the WWE just released Ace Steel because he's not a big guy, and he's a capable talent and they "didn't have anything for him."
WTF at Tony Atlas, though. Has the WWE ever had anyone named "Ace?" Why would they look down on the name? I think Atlas is entering Ultimate Warrior/Damien Demento territory. And yeah, he admitted to not watching wrestling, and when CM Punk didn't take any of his shit, it made him a hero in the OVW locker-room.
I doubt CM Punk is in hot water. I actually get the impression to the contrary. Vince McMahon has spoken highly of him in interviews, and JBL has defended him backstage (if you believe reports). However, if it did turn out he was in hot water, it might explain why he lost the ECW Championship to Chavo, and why their feud keeps spinning its wheels. Punk has been made to look fairly strong in the feud, though, so I doubt it would be that bad.
Another likely factor in Steel's release would probably be the scrapping of OVW. This is something the WWE would have thought about and planned, and they need to move a lot of developmental talent to FCW from OVW, and they probably decided that Ace Steel was one of the guys they didn't really feel the need to locate. If they had kept OVW, Steel probably would have been kept under developmental contract.
LOL at Ace Steel, though. "What's it to you, Saba?" A Second City Saints WWE reunion was never going to happen, but it would have been comedy gold.

Well, there was "Ace" Bob Orton... had a nice upper mid-card push back in the day, and was alround as recently as a couple years back.
Johnny Ace... he's senior management.
Ummm... anyone?

Devon Storm's old tag partner, Ace Darling. Yeah, WWE really shafted him.

The internet just has it out for Punk it seems with all these "hot water" rumors. As for ace being released, I was shocked when they signed him in the first place. Knowing the SCS would never happen, it doesn't bother me that much that he is gone, but as it was said in a previous post it would have been gold if it did happen.

Who the fuck does Tony Atlas think he is? He doesn't have his thumb on the pulse of the industry anymore.
I'm pretty sure no one in the WWE's upper managment has a clue what fans really want.

You shouldn't take a pulse with your thumb, as it has a pulse of its own and you won't be able to tell which is which. :shifty:
