From that list, MVP or Punk. They can both use the win. I figure Punk will be going after Chavo, so MVP.

I voted for Loose Cannon
...but failing that, Val Venis and/or Steve Blackman.

Triple H actually. I'd love to see that match again and it seems the perfect outcome. But alas...

I'm really not convinced that Flair will actually be doing the honours as soon as Mania.

I would love to see Edge, thats why I picked other, as I dont want any of the above superstars to take away Flairs career. None of them seem deserving...

Not knocking it, just wondering why exactly you see Edge in that role?

Out of those on the list, CM Punk. I would have said Mr. Kennedy, stemming from an angle they could have run at No Way Out, but that's out of the question now.
If they decide to do Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels, I don't think they should put HBK over, but rather give Flair the clean win (well, a Ric Flair clean win), and add some credibility to this angle, as the Hall of Famer keeps going, with a win over one of the best.
CM Punk ending the career of Ric Flair would be a great way to say "this guy has arrived." Losing clean to Chavo Guerrero does not bode well for him, though.
Carlito. He needs to get over the nature boy. Punk from the options.

And why is Edge "deserving"?
I didn't say he was deserving, I said the others weren't, and that I would like to see Edge do Flair in, Edge is dirty player, and it would solidify his heel legend to outdo Flair, and perhaps become the new Flair in terms of heelish action, and charisma (Not even close to Flair though)
The others, for some reason, I just dont see doing it.

I chose MVP....I think he could use the rub.
I think MVP would get the best out of this. He's right around the point where he's not quite ready for the next step but a win like this will prepare him for that next step.
You could even book it so Matt Hardy is in Flair's corner, continuing their feud.

Fallen Angel kind of has a point. Edge doesn't really need to step up to stand out, he just needs to be less mediocre than the rest of the crowd.
Anyway, I think Jawwwwwn Seeeena should do it. You see, first he overcomes the odds by being the seventh entrant into the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, then he lays out Ric Flair, then he goes on to win the WWE Championship, and finally, he ends 'Taker's streak.

That would be even more immense than Hulk Hogan winning the WWF Title at WrestleMania IX :wavesad:

I voted HBK - only because I'm a big sentimentalist.
Otherwise, I probably would have voted for a young gun like Punk.

MVP would be a good choice, the win would make his career and completely put him over as a heel (assuming naitch actually stays retired). However I doubt the WWE would do this simply becasue MVP isnt a name yet.

If Flair doesn't go out on the grandest stage of them all, when would he go out? Flair needs to job at Mania.

It'd be cool to see someone from his past make an appearance. Someone like Dean Malenko or Arn Anderson. I'd mark the fuck out if it was one of those two.

Malenko or Anderson would be absolutely useless. I'm not saying they couldn't churn out a good match (but maybe I am kind of saying that too), but they would have absolutely nothing to gain from that win. That's the same reason I don't want HBK to do it. Michaels doesn't need any more accolades than those that he already has, and he's to the point now where losses won't damage him at all.
If they are going to go with Michaels/Flair at Wrestlemania, as weird as it feels for me to say, I think I'd want Flair to go over there. Whoever picks up the final win against Flair will be forever solidified as the man who ended Ric Flair's career.
I really, REALLY wish it would be Mr. Kennedy, but it's becoming more than painfully apparent that this will not be the case. MVP would be great too, but again, it's just not looking that way from a guy who has been jobbing to Batista just for fun as of late.
Who should it be? I can't say for sure. But I do know that it shouldn't be Michaels, or Triple H for that matter.

My thoughts exactly mirror this. Putting Ric Flair over at WrestleMania accomplishes many things:
1. Ric Flair defeats Shawn Michaels, and looks more credible in the process. Whoever then goes on to retire Ric Flair doesn't look like they're just beating an old man.
2. It's unexpected. Surprises come along very rare these days, so Ric Flair winning when everyone expects him to lose would be a very sentimental "Holy shit, it's not over for him!" moment.
3. There is still money in the story. The WWE has not mined it nearly as effectively as they should have. Flair is getting inducted into the Hall of Fame the night before. He will become the first active wrestler to get that honour. So you retire him the next night? Flair going over would keep the "Active Hall of Famer" thing going, and might allow the angle to make some money.
4. Shawn Michaels does not need to be ending the career of Ric Flair. I get that Flair wants someone he likes to do it, but come on now. Beating Ric Flair with his career on the line is the perfect rub to give someone. For people who say "Who cares? Not everything needs to be about giving someone the rub," I plainly say that something like this can make money, and it should be allowed to make as much money as possible.
Ric Flair should be happy to wrestle Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania, and go over.
5. I do not want to see Ric Flair win another World Title, but that 17th reign has not even been mentioned yet. When Stone Cold Steve Austin had the idea in his head, I'm sure a run towards a 17th title was in it.
6. We still have not seen Ric Flair vs. Vince McMahon. I'm not a big fan of Vince wrestling, or Flair wrestling these days, but the seeds for this were laid down when Vince threw the stipulation at Ric. Flair vs. McMahon is a logical extension of this.

Why has this got to be about the guy who beats him stepping up? This isn’t about the other guy, this is about Flair, is it a great opportunity to get a young up and comer over? Sure, is that a fitting send off? No.
Out of that list (even though I voted LC) the only guy to do it should be HBK. Because he’s already up at that level, so the focus should be on flair retiring and getting a fitting send off, if a heel beats him, it’s probably going to be cheap, and thus destroy the whole angle.
I love the idea of swerving everyone and have him win
The one thing I’m still thinking could happen is Sting coming out, I heard he signed a new contract, but he hasn’t been on TNA in ages now, no one seems to know what’s going on with him. Sting coming out would be huge and Flair has stated that’s how he would like to go out, that would be a fitting send off IMO

Granted, but this is Ric Fucking Flair
He should go out on his terms how he wants against whoever he wants IMO, he’s earned it!

I get that he's Ric Flair, but in a floundering business, an opportunity to give an up and comer the rub of a Flair retirement is one of a few things that might actually mean anything in this era. Titles don't seem to matter as much anymore. Whoever beats Flair can use that for YEARS down the road.
I think a heel should do it, but he should do it cleanly. Remember when MVP beat Chris Benoit two out of three falls back to back? Sort of something like that. Heels don't HAVE to always cheat.

The best situation for his retirement match and final moment in terms of appropriateness, match quality, epic stature and probably his own liking is a match with HBK.
Of course, this doesn't do much for the future.
So the question is, what's more important? Someone getting he rub, or Ric Flair going out on an amazing note? How big of a rub would it really give at this stage of the game?
To be honest, I don't know who would really be deserving of the rub, or could benefit from it at this point in time.
Obvious choices are MVP CM Punk and a few others.
There's always the possibility that Ric Flair faces HBK in what everyone will think for sure is his last match, and pulls off the upset victory in an amazing match. This can be his big Wrestlemania retirement moment.
Then after that he can work a program with an up and comer who is sick and tired of seeing him squeak by and finally ends his career at one of the summer PPVs.

From a character perspective, Orton would be the logical choice to end Flair's career.
Also, it would be a great way to finally turn Cena heel for real if he were to turn on and then beat Flair.

Good way to turn Cena heel.
On Wrestlemania night he,
1) Wins both titles
2) Ends Taker's streak
3) Retires Flair.
DA CHAIN GANGGG would be proud!
