Starring the one and only.....

Casper Van Dien as the returning Johnny Rico

IMDB Plot Details: The war against the Bugs continues! A Federation starship crash-lands on the distant alien planet OM-1, stranding beloved leader Sky Marshal Anoke and several others, including comely but tough pilot Lola Beck. It's up to Colonel Johnny Rico, reluctant hero of the original Bug Invasion on Planet P, to lead a team of Troopers on a daring rescue mission.

Anyone but me expecting Rico to die in this one?

Wow that looks...pretty bad. But I'll check it out because the first one is badass. 2 sucked.

lol Casper looked gay when he said that last line. Too early to tell but the bugs look different. More CGI like compared to the first one or something.

Yeah I forgot until now. Only good part about 2 was maybe the main guy and Kelly Carlson from Nip Tuck who gets topless.

Holy crap, they made a no.2?

Looks pretty loyal to the original, but obvisouly will be nowhere near as good.

Casper Van Dien looked pretty gay in that trailer, not as badass as in the first.

The first bit in that corridor thing was quite scary if you imagine how cramped it woulda been in there with loadsa bugs...

Overall looks pretty good. Not expecting anything amazing, but I'll definitely get it, and most likely enjoy it (I'm very easily pleased when it comes to movies, and I'm a huge fan of the original Starship Troopers).

I was just reading the trivia on IMDB for the 2nd film....

-Made for 5% of the cost of Starship Troopers (1997).

Call me crazy, but I total enjoyed the 1st. It's campiness, it's violence.. whatever it was, it worked for me. I never seen the 2nd. I know I *once* looked for it and never found it and completely since forgot it was made. LOL.

I'm thurrr

The first was badass in a sense that you couldn't wait for a videogame to convey that sense of epic encounters (which nowadays they have). It was also pretty fun to watch all around. I thought the second one was a bootleg copy-cat or something. "They're so gonna get sued for this." Jokes on me; I couldn't believe a production like Starship Troopers (with visuals that still kick ass) could have a sequel... we could pony up to film.

The series' saving grace was the well done but short lived CGI series Roughneck Chronicles. But a bad time slot had it go the way of that Techno Man cartoon (I jest, I jest). Overall, I'd file this new debacle under that banner KK has in this forum.

Is Mr. Robocop directing this by any chance? His sense of social-political sattire could give the movie a point atleast.

One thing that bothers me is that this IS the 3rd movie, yet at the end of the first they had all the new weapons and stuff, and had studied the brain bug and "knew how to kill them" etc.

Any excuse I guess. Mind you, I'm not complaining, I'm looking forward to this film.

Released yesterday....went and rented it...

I have only watched the first half of the film but I like it. Its great to see Rico back.

The gore has been cut down quite a bit and any scene of gore that pops up is pure cheesy.

Is the Roughnecks, the Starship Troopers Chronicles series any good?

So hold on, this is a straight-to-DVD release? I hate when I get all excited about a film and then it doesn't even come to cinemas!

The first one ruled because of Denise Richards and Patrick Muldoon, who I was a fan of when watching Days of Our Lives.

When I was 17 she was hot.

Well yeah, but why would you watch this for her hotness over Wild Things.

I wouldnt. I'd watch Wild Things.

I wouldnt normally watch Starship Troopers type flicks had it not been out of curiosity and the little bit of a crush I had on her back in the day.
