Random TV Thoughts
WWE: RAW March 03, 2008
- I enjoyed the majority of this show but I think from a stand point of selling Mania it failed.
- The Big Show segment was horrible. I was originally interested in this angle, but after this segment I have no interest in seeing the Mania match at all. The mixed match was horrible and illistrated the difficulties of doing a match with a 150 lbs boxer and The Big Show. The promos were also bad (partly due to the sattalite feed) so this was a total failure IMO.
- The Finlay Hornswaggle stuff makes no sense to me. JBL beating up an infant like little person in the hospital is distrubing in a changing channel kind of way. What possible explanation can be given for a baby face Finlay to lie to his son (who he loves) and conspire with the McMahon family to make Vince (and Hornswaggle) believe Hornswaggle was Vince's Bastard Son? In doing so he subjected his son Hornswaggle to a ton of physical and mental anguish, with no apparent up side to ANYONE. On top of this we have the yet unexplained secret Deal between Vince and Finlay.
- My idea to salvage this angle is to book Finlay and JBL in an "Explanations on a POLE match" at Mania. We could have 4 poles with an different explanation for this angle hanging from each pole and who ever retrieves the first explanation from a pole wins and we will read that explanation and go with that.
- My proposed explinations are as follows:
1. We were kind of hoping you'd have forgot about all that other stuff by now.
2. I'm Vince McMahon, I don't have to explain myself to you!
3. We've hired Vince Russo back, where do you think we got the idea for this Pole Match?
4. We are sorry but our Wellness Policy does not apply to the Creative Team.

Lance, and ever company he worked for, should have let him showcase this side of him. I love reading his tv thoughts and commentaries. Most of the time I agree with him (I disagree with some of his views).

I love Lance Storm. His comments on current-day wrestling goings-on are simply hilarious and thoughtful and intelligent.

Hahaha, Lance is the man. #3 and #4 are classic.

I never got the Lance being boring shit. I always thought he was playing boring.

He's said just basically everything we've been saying, which is good. one thingi disagree with was that this weeks raw was enjoyable, fuck know it wasn't. Maybe he was on drugs while watching it or something. Gotta love the cheap shots to Mcmahon/russo& the writing team. :D

He's very funny.

Considering the tendency to throw "No Charisma" around as a catch-all for why people don't like someone, as is "boring," is there really any surprise here?

Meh, it's no funnier than half the posts on here.

He does have a point however

It's also pretty nice to see someone in the business say these things. I mean, our opinions are dismissed because we're, you know, fans. But when a wrestler speaks candidly and in some way agrees with those sentiments, it serves to validate us in some way.

I can't pretend I always agree with him, but he brings a level of candor to the wrestling world that should be appreciative, and unlike most other former active wrestlers, doesn't come off as batshit crazy.

I would doubt very much that part of the angle will ever be explained. Was mentioned one week and not again, was like finaly was hinting it was a bargaining chip he had against mcmahon, if so why didn't he threaten to use it to stop hornswoggle geting a kicking?

He is funny but written and live are often completely different.

I'm a big Lance Storm fan though.

Finlay and Vinvce only mentioned it one. King and JR brought it up a couple times in reference to the storyline.

You know what this reminds me of? Matt Hardy? You're fired! ...B/c Edge fucked your gf and you didn't like it, so Edge got a divorce and then went away and now Kane is going to marry Lita and some guy named Gene is going to give her an abortion and then, I guess, we'll hire you back, it makes sense, I promise, here's your check.

Only this time, it's Irish.

Actually, the best scenario is that the explain as little of this as possible. I agree.

Exactly - it's imagining him sitting at his desk coming up with this stuff with that Lance Storm face that makes it true comedy.

When you put it like that, it does seem funny. But still, Lance Storm is the man. I mean, he has always asked permission to be serious for a moment...That can only mean that during that brief moment he is being serious, sure. But what about after said moment? My guess is he is the complete opposite and is infact a very funny guy when he is not being serious.
